San Sebastian Playa Hotel reviews

Dec 2010, petje

We just booked this hotel to get away for the weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located right on the board walk. We checked-in Thu afternoon, the staff was very friendly and helpful with tips on where we could get the best tapas. We will be going back to... more

lovely position
We have just returned from 4 days in this hotel. The position we felt was the best in Sitges...it was right on the sandy beach but away from the main promenade. The rooms are a good size and very clean. We overlooked the pool, whilst our friends overlooked the side street. We thought we had the best room, until the Easter break was over then we got the noise at 8a.m. onwards from the builders working on the property next door. This was annoying, and will probably go on for quite a while. We realise that the hotel has no control over that and... more
Fabulous location
Agree with previous reviewer. We had a double room overlooking the pool & it was fabulous. Position of hotel (in old town, right on beach) was great. Would definitely go back to this hotel. The staff were superbly helpful & friendly. Sitges is a lovely, small, upmarket, resort. If I had one criticism, it would be the the pool area. Although beautiful to look at, & relaxing, it lost the sun at around 3pm - meaning you relly had to do any 'serious' sunbathing on the beach. The hotel had no sunbed allocation on the beach, so we had to pay... more
Good hotel, but do not book with travelocity!
A group of 8 of us stayed at this hotel for a weekend last week. We had some issues concerning the reservation before we arrived and had a feeling upon check in we would have some problems. Upon arrival we found out that Traveloicy had booked two rooms the night before and one extra room for the following two nights. We got on the phone with travelocity and sorted out the extra room, but the two rooms for the prvious nights we are still fighting. The hotel was somewhat helpful after a heated exchange of trying to figure out what had... more
What a gem!
We visited Sitges the end of May and stayed at the Hotel San Sebastian. There were 3 adults traveling together, so we opted for the King suite....what a room! There was a full living/sitting area, huge closets that divided the sitting area from the bedroom, and a large king bed with a great balcony and incredible views of the sea and the city. Yes, you will pay more for a suite with a sea view (we paid about $220€ per night), but for us it was well worth it. You can leave the balcony doors open in the evening and fall asleep to the... more
I was very impressed!
I stayed at this hotel for 5 days starting in early June, 2005. I was a little apprehensive about my stay especilally after reading some of the other reviews on this site. However, I managed to secure an excellent rate of 63 Euro per night, including breakfast, for single use of a twin room through Utell. I found the reception staff to be very professional - they managed to sort out a balcony door that would not close, a safe that would not work and a bulb that had fused within 1 hour of me checking in. The room was very spacious as was... more
Great Choice
While the service was not stellar, the San Sebastion Playa was an excellent hotel. We had a suite with three small balconies with fabulous ocean views. The hotel was clean and attractive, and the staff helpful. Location was great.
San Sebastion Playa Hotel
A year ago, my family stayed in Sitges at the San Sebastion Playa hotel for my daughter's Spanish wedding. It is about an hour south of Barcelona and across the street from the Med. It was PERFECT; beautiful rooms, great service, an excellent retaurant. It was my third time in the Barcelona area and encourage those of you who want a wonderful experience to stay in Sitges and relax in style.
Terrible
Yeah, we've stayed at this one in the end of june. The attitude at the reception was strikingly not nice. U feel like u owe them something. No service at all. The room indeed had problems with air-conditioning. And if u stay there in sommer, u know the meaning of it. The hotel was empty, which was then no surprise. We had no sea-view, but the back yard view. But that implies that u will have the view on the other people's balconies, with the laundry hanging, and the sound of washing machine running. And it's really close. And... more
Poor Sebastian
Disappointingly poor. In general the room and facilities were clean and comfortable, though the service could at best be described as grudgingly polite. Don't be fooled by the Johansens badge or the 4 stars which are only reflected in the price. The hotel has no sound proofing at all; you can hear every last word (and worse every sound) from the rooms above, below and around you. In particular avoid rooms 115, 215 and 315 as these rooms are adjacent to the 2 lifts which shudder through the night at the foot of your bed. The much... more
Luxury, at a price and with some problems
Stayed in suite, room 217. Beautiful, three balconies, (two with very good views) sitting room, dressing room, large bedroom, two large TVs, Bathroom with very efficient shower and two basins. Left to your own devices to find out how to operate blinds, tv, contact reception etc. Not anywhere near enough coat hangers for more than a one night stay. Not enough pillows through they did provide some more on request. One day came back to no towels!! Problem quickly sorted after a visit to reception. Interesting concept dining on... more
