Lovely Hotel Shame about the 'all inclusive'
from A TripAdvisor Member
I had read the reviews before travelling to this hotel and did think they were maybe slightly exagerated. Having returned I think they were spot on. We travelled as a family and our idea of "All inclusive" was sadly not the same as understood by this hotel. When arriving we read the hotel supplied literature and were amazed by the ammount of exclusions. Ice-cream only between 4 til 5, try explaining that to the children, A family of four could only order 2 drinks at a time unless of course both adults abandoned the children to both queue up at a bar with only one bartender and 15 min waiting time. The sandwiches and cakes were put under a plastic dome at opening time in the morning and remained there all day, as all the sandwiches contained ham I am amazed anyone one ate them as they were seriously "high" by afternoon. The Pizzerier , lounge bar, toasted sandwiches and bottled water in the dining room were all non inclusive . The hotel and rooms were of good standard and the maid service exceptional as was the pool in the new building .It is such a pity the "all inclusive" guests were felt to feel less welcome.
Secon Time Around

This was the second trip to this hotel in four months. The first in May was excellent. We stayed in the new part of the hotel, lovely rooms and surroundings, staff were great couldn't have been more helpful. This time I went back with just my 19 year old daughter for a week starting the 22nd August. Initially I was disappointed to be in the old part of the hotel but soon changed my mind. The atmosphere was far better with all the day and night-time entertainment going on there. The reanimation team were excellent and even if you weren,t taking part in activities they were very friendly and informative. I,ve read quite a few reviews from other guests about the service being slow and that the (sorry ) German paying guests were treated better than us Brits. I definately disagree. There were a few incidences when a particularly rude German guest came up to the pool bar when I was waiting to be served along with a few others and demanded a drink, only to be told very politely, by Sotiris our very friendly barman that others were waiting before him. So no I don't think we were penalised for being British AI guests. During busy times the pool bar had a second helper one of the very likeable Polish staff, Kamil, Gabriel or Paulina. All of whom were very helpful. My hat goes off to the staff for keeping their cool when the inevitable Brit and German guest is so rude. This year was the first time I'd ever done AI and thought it was as I expected. Spiros the restaurant manager kept the staff on their toes, clearing tables and serving drinks. We never had a problem getting a clean table. The food was lovely with a wide variety and replenished constantly throughout the sittings. It would probably be too repetative for two weeks but you could always break it up by going into the village of Moraitika ten minutes walk away. Plenty going on there for all ages. On the last day I wanted a late check out but was not able to keep the same room. No problem we were already packed anyway and were quite pleased to be given one of the bungalows. It was lovely and I would not have minded staying there the whole week. So now I can say I've sampled most aspects of the hotel. OH fantasic gym and beauty therapy at the new part of the hotel, don't miss it. Well I hope I can do a return visit next year my daughter is already talking about it she didn,t want to come home! Overall good, some bad points

Just returned from this hotel yesterday. It is right on the "beach", but dont expect sand and or even a beach so to speak. I got used to it and started to really like not having sand all over me and my room! The hotel reception, lounge area is lovely. We were in the old part of the hotel and were AI. I couldn't make up my mind if I would prefer the new part or not as you had to make your way down to the old building several times a day for your meals etc, and it was a big hill to go back up! Also all the daytime activites were at the small pool/beach area in the old building. We still had a very nice view of the sea and lovely gardens surrounded us. Air con is good, you can go out and leave it on all day in the old part but not in the new rooms. The worst part about this hotel is the repetitiveness of the food. The food was 'ok', although it was more or less the same thing all day everyday, apart from the Greek Nite BBQ, which we really enjoyed. Go into town though, there is some really nice restaurants and they are fairly cheap. The food was excellent in the restaurants. The location of the hotel is great, the views, and the maid service was good. It is clean and everyone was very nice. If you have kids it is ideal, loads for them to do day and night. The animation team are great with them. Some if the AI rules are a bit annoying, you cant use the Taverna or Pizzeria (whch was never open anyway), kids can only get ice cream at certain times. You can only get two drinks at a time on AI and you are served half pints of lager not full pints. No diet coke at the pool bar for 5 days out of 7!! Shocking! Overall, had a great holiday.

Nice Family Hotel

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. Firstly we were not disappointed although after many years of travelling I have to say the All Inclusive deal really needs to be looked at. To be fair to the hotel they are fairly new to this and to be honest I dont think they like it at all preference was definately given to paying customers. The down points were the bar service its so slow and I think they meant it to be that way as there was never any effort made to speed things up. If I was to break it down the location of this hotel is fantastic we were surprised to be in one of the rooms over looking the pool in the old hotel but not disappointed with the room at all the only thing to remember if you are in one these rooms is the cats (theres alot of them) sleep here at night so if you decide to leave your swimwear etc out the cats have been sleeping on them (yuk). We have been on many AI and the snacks are readily available all day(not at this hotel) there are sandwiches and cake which are on the bar and to be honest you just help yourself slicing the cake ect which I felt was not hygenic at all. The childrens ice cream is only available from 4pm until 5pm which I had never experienced in any other AI hotel. The beer is served in what can only be described as egg cups and straight from the dishwasher which makes the beer warm not good!!! On the subject of alcohol I was amazed to see that the children did not have different colour bands as a mum of teenagers I was not comfortable with that also surely this would help in the local pubs when trying to work out what age they are. Just a suggestion for the hotel. All in all I would go back but not as an AI guest. It is a very clean and well furnished hotel in a lovely location. Depite the problems with the AI package we enjoyed our stay here.
Couldnt have asked for a better 21st birthday!
from Dannygirl
I arrived early hours of my 21st birthday. Went with my mum and 2 other friends and stayed in the new bit across the road from the bungalows. Very clean room, gorgeous pool area which lit up in the nights and outstanding club reps which topped the holiday off for us. The night of my 21st was brilliant-got very drunk and the reps were extremely friendly. Limited drinks availability which is the only thing really that i didnt like-and the hill up to the new hotel apartments-which isnt good when you are really drunk! Lots of shops and bars in the area including karaoke bars and a couple of night clubs. Pool in the hotel was cold but was nice to cool yourself off when the sun got a bit too hot. Got a nice tan even at the end of september when we went. Went to the area when i was younger and didnt really enjoy it but found it really good this time around and would definately go again. Lovely hotel which was clean and tidy. : )

I have just returned from a week at the Miramare Beach Hotel and I can honestly state that I had a good time. The hotel is divided into two parts, with a road between two complexes. The complexes seemed to divided for 'all inclusive' guests and 'self-catering' guests. As an 'all inclusive' guest the complex was great, it was clean, well maintained and had 3 great swimming pools. The rooms were spacious, modern and cleaner than I could have possibly imagined with maid service everyday inc. clean bedding and clean towels DAILY! The views from the balcony were amazing and I have no doubt that 'all inclusive' guests are treated to the better complex within the hotel grounds. The food was simple, and to be honest was very repetitive. Although there was sald dishes a plenty there tended to be the same menu every lunch time with pasta and tomoto sauce/bolognaise on offer with a few select fish/meat dishes/chips. This was also the same scenario at tea time again there was a vast salad selection BUT with identical pasta dishes and chips OR potatoes and meat/fish dishes were rather limited. I ate the same meal nearly every lunch and tea time! I can't really complain as the holiday was ONLY £250.00p/p as a last min. deal but I found that by the 7th day of the holiday I was looking forward to returning home just to have a decent meal! Another problem encountered was in relation to bar service, it is very slow so be warned. Also make sure you aren't allergic to wasp stings! The island is covered in wasps and I regluarly had to move seats during the evening while enjoying a drink because wasps were everywhere! Although it appears to be ending on a negetive note, it wasn't like that! You'll be impressed with the hotel and the views and the rooms were of a very high standard. Enjoy - I did!
Best le[t secret!!!

What a fabulous Hotel. We arrived the last week of June and were allocated 2 lovely rooms in the new part of the Hotel. The rooms were not only clean and spacious but well decorated and with air conditioning that was so efficient you had to turn it off from time to time! The bathrooms were beautiful and again so clean. The restaurant at the Hotel is in the old part of the Hotel which is across a busy road but we certainly wouldn`t let that put us off. The choice at mealtimes was fabulous with a full range at breakfast and eggs cooked how you like them whilst you wait! Drinks were served to your table at lunch and dinner and nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pools at the newer part of the Hotel were spotless with ample sunbeds and space and with a pool bar serving drinks and coffee. The older part of the Hotel which looked fine is on the beachfront and has its own pool and another bar serving drinks. The beach itself is quite narrow and shingly and take suitable shoes to enter the water in as it is a bit rocky but safe and very shallow. The best kept secret is the Spa facilities for adults only.... a small extra cost of 25 euros per week will give you entry to the indoor pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. What a bargain and great escape from the midday sun. A single session was around 5 euros. If you booked a treatment (the guy who does the massage is gorgeous!) then you could use the spa for free! Although we consider ourselves easy to please generally this hotel really did exceed our expectations. Do yourself a favour and try it out!! It`s a bargain.

arrived at the miramare at 4.00 am so really didn't know what to expect, when i woke i was so surprized, the view was amazing, the grounds and flowers were lovely and our room was basic but spotless. the restaurant was well presented with so much choice from the buffet to suite everyone. the staff are so nice and friendly. if you are going to stay at this hotel you have nothing to worry about, the place.food, staff,is all great and the town is only 5 minutes walk, i will definately return to this hotel, hope you feel the same!!!!!!!!

Like others, we were concerned about the hotel after reading some poor reviews. We had a 10 day AI break from 20 to 30th May 2005 for less than £400 each which turned out to be amazing value for money. Even the first impressions of the hotel are good, we arrived at midnight but we were very quickly allocated a great room complete with sea view in the new block, probably the best view we've ever enjoyed in many years of travelling. Also kept spotlessly clean, which is always our No 1 criteria. There's a fridge for use in the room which was very convenient for drinks on the roomy balcony. The food is fine, typical mass catering buffet style but when there's plenty of fresh salads, feta cheese, pasta dishes etc to choose from you can hardly complain. The staff are laid back and friendly. You can also afford to treat yourself to the occasional meal out when you want a la carte waiter service. Go to the old village (just a short walk from the hotel) and try TASSOS grill & restaurant, the friendly atmosphere and food was excellent, there's a wide choice and very reasonable bill! The drinks service is a little slow both in the hotel restaurant and round the main pool, but Andreas runs the beach hut and he is super-efficient and mixes a great rum and coke in the twinkling of an eye. In short, unless you have totally unrealistic expectations, you cannot fail to be pleased with Miramare Beach Hotel for an excellent four star value for money holiday.
The service and location was fine, the rooms were clean and tidy staff in general were helpful with a few exceptions No mention in brochure of charge for sauna, and indoor pool when booking I would not think that 11.00 was the time that all inclusive finished. It did seem... more
