not adults only
Don,t go to this hotel in July or August as it is overrun by kids. Although Thomson advertise it as adults only that is not true. The pool area is very cramped and pool full of children, also sunbeds do not have adustable backs so to get away from kids and to get a decent sun bed went to beach, however paid 7 euros day for bed hire. Lovely views from outside area of restaurant and pool area, which is cleared in evenings. Perfect we thought linger over a meal enjoy a quiet drink while taking in the view but NO - the kiddies' disco starts at 8.30 irritating music then ... the bingo starts at 9! We therefore left hotel at that time every evening. Feel we were not catered for as a couple. Would not return.
excellent value for money
Stayed at the Don Carlos for 2 weeks starting 22ndJune 2007 this was the first time my husband and I had been and we both really enjoyed it the hotel was excellent Clean, well run with excellent food We upgraded to a suite and it was well worth the money we had 2 balconies both with fantastic sea views a full size fridge and lots of space The hotel staff were friendly and helpful without being in the way and although there were a lot of repeat visitors everyone was treated with the same friendliness andefficiency we will certainly go back again
Average....
We booked the Don Carlos as a last minute deal through Thomsons. We arrived at the Hotel about 4.30am, we’d booked a suite so i was really looking forward to seeing it.... when i opened the door i was seriously disappointed, it was just a normal 2 room apartment nothing plush about it, on the positive side it did have plenty of wardrobe space and a fridge, though it would have been a bit tight if there were 4 people sharing. We got settled into bed.......then we heard the noise... the only way I can discribe it was that it sounded like a bin lorry crushing rubbish... CLUNK, CLUNK, WIRRRRRRRRR, CLUNK, CLUNK....... all night.......normally my boyfriend can sleep through anything, but not this…. In hindsight we should have complained, but we thought we could live with it, by Wednesday we were on the verge of suicide, but then felt it was to late to complain..... we discovered a day or so later the air conditioning unit for the whole hotel was above our rooms so beware of room 405!!! We couldn’t complain about the food at all, breakfast was really lovely, (cereal toast, fruit, yoghurts, full english) and dinner was good too (Meat, veg, pasta, pizza, chips and traditional spanish food). There is an all inclusive drinks option available, but we didn't use this as we wern't at the hotel that much. The pool, though very nice, just wasn’t our cup of tea…. I thought the days of getting up at the crack of dawn to put towels on sunbeds was a thing of the past, how wrong was i….. we laughed every morning at the scrum when the beds were put out, so we made a hasty exit down to the beach, were you had to pay for beds (3.50 euros), but it was worth it for a bit of space and a lovely sea view. The snack bar was down there too, and the food is cheap and really nice. The evening entertainment was hilarious, we needed a couple of VERY LARGE vodka's just to get through the bingo!.... parrot show....magician.....brazillian dancers....name that tune.... just to name a few????? Again not our cup of tea, but for older people and families it was probably perfect. We usually headed into Santa Eulalia most evenings which was only a 10 minute walk, where there were loads of bars and restaurants. Went into San Antonio one night to see the sunset, the bus service is brilliant (hotel will provide a timetable). When we were due to leave our coach was picking us up at 2am, we had to leave our room at 12 noon, so asked to keep it on. We were able to keep the room until 6pm, the charge for this was 65 euros which I thought was pretty expensive. Finally if you like diving, please try Ibiza Diving who are based at the marina in Santa Eulalia, very helpful and prices are reasonable. All in all it was a good holiday, yes it had it’s bad points, but at the end of the day your holiday is what you make it…..
Very Quiet and Relaxed Holiday
We have just returned from a 10 day break in Hotel Don Carlos in Santa Eulalia. We were looking for somewhere relaxing where there were no screaming children and late night parties. It was exactly what we were looking for. The food was excellent, breakfast was the same every day which consisted of english and continental and you could help yourself to anything, including tea/coffee/water and various juices. The evening meals had a theme each night ranging from spanish/mexican/italien etc. We had muscles, fresh prawns, fajita's etc etc. There was a lot of variety!! The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly. Also we found that the other clientel in the hotel always said hello and sparked up conversation. The entertaiment varied each evening. There were also activities during the day including table tennis, rifle shooting, pool and darts. You didn't have to take part, it was normally the same faces each time!! The one thing i was a bit annoyed with was that you had to pay a daily rate for the safe in the room and also put down a deposit. Also there is no fridge in the room so had to buy water each day as it wouldn't have stayed chilled. The hotel is half board but there is an all inclusive drinks option of 13 euros per person per day and you could have local beer, some wines, spirits and soft drinks. This is good if you are around the hotel all day and night but we wanted to venture out into the town so decided against it. Santa Eulalia is a beautiful part of the island and there is nice harbour with bars and restaurants. If you're looking for a quiet hotel with some nice evening walks then this is for you. Not for families at all. If you are going then make sure you get to the pool to put your towels down before 8.30 each morning otherwise there are no sunbeds or umbrella's left!!
good holiday
just got back from 2 week hol in the don carlos. hotel is very nice good food, good entertainment, lovely view if your facing the sea. centre of santa eulalia 10 min walk but its a nice walk. hotel right on the beach which was great. if your looking for a nice quet relaxing holiday then this is the place. on the down side if you want loads of fun when the sun goes down dont come here. not much for kids.
Great Holiday & Hotel
For a clean, excellently run hotel in a quiet area , within easy walk of Santa Eulalia this hotel is perfect. The rooms were spotless, staff pleasant and the food was top notch. A no nonsense , well run hotel set up to cater for people looking for a good value family holiday. The pool area was busy but never overcrowded , you could always get a sunbed and the beauty of been 1 minute from a beach from where you can swim and snorkel. spot on I'd say. My daughter loved it. The hotel runs a bus @3.50 euros to the Aguamar waterpark , very easy no hassle, drops off and picks up. One word of advice though, we went to Fomentera, the beaches and sea are beautiful, but beware of the extortionate prices at the beach bar..take some pack up and a sun brolly... other than that the day spent there was a delight.
Excellent Standard
We booked the holiday at short notice after my Wife had looked at the hotel web site. We had our expectations surpassed. The location, adjacent to a small beach in a quiet area of Santa Eulalia, is superb for anyone wishing to snorkel or enjoy the sun. The Hotel facilities are up to standard and all areas are kept clean and manicured. The food is outstanding for the standard of hotel and we have been served far worse in official 5 star hotels. In truth, we were annoyed that one week was not long enough to try all the food selections available. Our 12 year old son was completely choked up when we left and just wants to return as soon as possible. The staff were helpful, the room (a family suite) was clean and spacious with fully functional air con. The dining area is clean and maintained throughout the dining periods. Finally, the Drinks Deal (allmost like All Inclusive) is a superb idea which no-one abused. No drunks, no rowdiness just a peaceful location. There are plenty of activities for the children that do not encroach on adult enjoyment. Excellent!
Overated
Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Don Carlos. Booked the hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not impressed with the hotel. It was described as a 4 star which it certainly is not. The rooms and food were 3 star at the most. On the last day the room smelled badly of sewage. Nice peaceful location about 15 mins walk to the marina and centre. Great resort, good location but sorry, an average 3 star hotel.
Great Location.
Very enjoyable holiday.accommodation excellant and wonderfull selection of food.
brilliant hotel
