Subur Maritim Hotel

The hotel was OK. Not as in "just ok" but not OK with an ! either. I was disappointed when we were allocated a room on the rear opposite the sea but from the expansive balcony we have great views over the city and hills as well as a side view of the ocean and the old town. Breakfast: we only had breajfast once at the hotel and we more enjoyed the al fresco on our own very private balcony. The rooms were ok. A bit plain. The hotel is a VERY long walk away from the city centre. The rooms were un urgent need of refurbishment. Dont pay for a sea view room unless you smoke, I had to suffer a room that smelt of tobacco. The staff were very unhelpful. The food service was VERY poor. THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL THAT I HAVE EVER STAYED AT!

A very noisy hotel not up to the standard. We were given room right next to the cleaning ladies rooms. From early in the morning very noisy banging doors etc. We also had noisy neighbours in other rooms. Hotel staff not friendly, quickest check in ever two seconds were told nothing about hotel or Sitges. Hotel could do with new paint etc. Breakfast was nice though. Would not recommed this place.

Feb 20th, 2007: stayed one night for Carnival festivities. Hotel was an easy 15 min walk down a nice palm-lined pormenade along the beach to town center. Hotel staff was very friendly and spoke good English. Room (#206) was large, clean and comfortable with nice balcony and ocean view. Bed was firm and good. Bath was large, clean and good pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was great. No trains were running for return to Barcelona due to electric problem. Hotel room was ok, nice bathroom with fitted hair dryer. The safe was very good and free. No tea or coffee maker. The pool area was very nice and we always got loungers no problem. Breakfast was good with a good selection. The downside of this hotel was the noise. We didn't get a good nights sleep throughout our stay. The walls and ceilings are paper thin. Just spent two weeks in the lovely Sitges, a great holiday resort for all, but the Subur Maritim hotel left a lot to be desired. We suspected we had paid over the odds before the holiday, and sadly this proved to be true. Breakfast, we always found was great, with plentiful food and a wide choice. But to get a sunlounger by the pool we had to be there at dawn, as towels were already placed in prime positions before breakfast. Dont understand how this hotel has got such good reviews. We stayed in the old part of the hotel in a so called 'suite'. It was dark and gloomy with a noisy air con unit. Couldn't use it at night. The bathroom was big but had mould around the seals and only one of the ceiling lights worked. The breakfasts were truly dire ... the 1st morning we arrived at 9am to be told all the coffee cups had gone so we either used a tiny expresso cup or nothing. No offer to get more cups ... nothing. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The hotel is literally about 10 paces from the beach. The rooms are okay. Very spacious room and bath. The air conditioner in our room didn't really work, and the walls were quite thin, but besides that a lovely hotel. Breakfast was GREAT! Lots of selection. The hotel is quite far from the train station (about a 30-40 minute walk), but the walk is along the seaside promenade, so we really enjoyed it. A bit hard with luggage, though! The hotel was clean and tidy but was a long way from being a four star. It may have been heading towards the end of the season while we were there but on two mornings the breakfast selection took a lot to be desired ie there wasn't much unless you count one bread roll between 30 people! Great location just across the promenade from the beach. Pleasant 10 mins walk to the start of the restaurants in town. Nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds available (in August) and not at all cramped. Hotel is not an attractive building. Inside the corridors felt a bit like a hospital (or prison!). Room we had was quite shabby and there was very little space around the 2 double beds. Bathroom was roomy bright and very nicely fitted. Buffet breakfasts were very good and available until 11am.
