Antemare Hotel

The Antemare's sign indicates that they think they're a four-star hotel, but really they're a nice three-star hotel. I looked at multiple guidebooks/websites and saw both three and four stars, so interpret that as you wish. That said, we had a very pleasant stay and we would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for something affordable but much nicer than a budget hotel. First impressions of the Antemare would lead you to believe this was a decent 4 star hotel. Dig a little deeper and you would discover this was a Spanish ‘Fawlty Towers’. On entering our room we discovered the air-conditioning unit not to be working. After having to insist on a new room with air-conditioning (it was 30 degrees after all), we were reluctantly giving another room, this time with a faulty room safe, although a repairman did eventually fix this. This place is SO mispresented on the internet. First, they are under construction and construction starts really early in the morning. Instead of being woken by an alarm clock a jackhammer wakes you up. The pictures they have on the internet of the pools that look like hot tubs are actually cold fountains and the hotel does not look that great during the day. It needs ALOT of work. We booked 3 rooms at this hotel and at no time were we advised that the place was undergoing a major refurb. Noise from early in the morning until early evening, dust and debris in corridors and no passenger lift working (new one being installed) presented major problems for a pleasant stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful but the management of the hotel must think that we are a captive audience. How short sighted they are. Give this place a wide berth

After a shockingly disappointing experience with Hotel Subur (avoid at all costs!), us and another couple found the Antemare. Milan, the Manager, was very helpful and all staff were extremely friendly (including gay friendly!) They have a wonderful main pool (there is a smaller, quiet pool in the back), their rooms are clean, of adequate size and are modernly appointed. The Antemare hotel had good newly re-furbished rooms, reasonable pool area, polite and attentive staff. The only thing missing from the hotel was Internet Access, which meant a trip into Sitges town centre to check your EMail and also claims on some web sites that the hotel has a gym, it doesn't. However I would recomend this hotel as it's a short walk from the town centre but far enough away for a peaceful nights sleep.

We spent 2 nights at the Antemare in March 2004 and found it to be very clean with a very good breakfast. It was very peaceful at night. The close proximity to a lovely beach and promenade was a bonus.

I stayed in the hotel at the end of August 2003. It was a nice hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. The hoel is in a residential area, which meant it was nice and quiet at night, but also meant it was 15 minute walk into town at night, and 20 minute walk to the station. The pool was nice - aprox 20 metres long so you could have a good swim if you wished, and it was never busy. The resort itself is lovely, unpspoilt, with lovely buildings and lots of nice restaurants and boutiques. I would certainly return to the resort and the hotel.

Just returned from 2 nights at the Antemare with my boyfriend. We paid 68 a night for a double room inc. breakfast on the internet and I think we had a real bargain. I would expect to pay at least 100 a night for a hotel of this standard in Spain. Entrance, lobby, bar are designed in the chic-retro look of the moment. Myself, husband and two teenage children have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Antemare Hotel - 20th to 24th April 2003.Apart from the fact that a fair amount of refurbishment work was going on in preparation for the coming summer season, the hotel itself was comfortable, the staff pleasant and helpful.
