" My husband and I visited the Sol... "

My husband and I visited the Sol S'Argamassa at the end of June last year.

The Hotel is situated between Es Cana and Santa Eulalia. It is a good standard Sol hotel, clean and attractive but not what I would define as luxurious. We would definitely recommend car hire as it would be a hike to these nearest resorts and would end up costing a fortune in cabs otherwise. But as we wanted to be a little way out and had hired a car, it was an ideal base for us.

We had a twin bedded room with balcony overlooking the pool which was clean and attractively decorated. Unfortunately, it was right next to the maids station so every morning we were awoken by their chatter and the banging of the door as they came back and forth.

The food was pleasant although repetitive every night but as we wanted to eat out in different places sometimes it did not really bother us. The restaurant has seating outdoors as well as indoors which was nice, and was the self-service buffet kind, although drinks were served at your table.

There are two pools, one in front of the hotel and one behind. We found the pool behind very busy so would use the one in front.

The beach wasn't great but as there are so many in Ibiza we just got in the car and went off for the day.

The staff were polite but not overly friendly which was a shame as it would have left a better impression and the guests were predominantly Spanish in the week that we stayed.

There were a lot of children there and there was nightly entertainment but we were actually out every night so can't comment on what it was like.

The bar in the hotel closed about midnight but there is a small bar next door that stays open later just off the beach which, although not much to look at, was very friendly and we had a few fun late night drinks there.

In all I would recommend the hotel as a good base if you have transport and intend to get out and explore Ibiza, as we did, but otherwise it could feel quite isolated.

The holiday itself was brilliant, there is something for everyone in Ibiza. We loved Ibiza town and Santa Eulalia. We found some really pretty secluded beaches and are going back this year.

This time we are staying just up the road at the S'Argamassa Palace which we believe is a little more luxurious.

" We travelled to Ibiza on the... "

We travelled to Ibiza on the 12/08/2005 via the Executive Lounge at Gatwick Airport, well worth the £26 each, as much food, drink, television, papers, internet access as one can take in, this included going straight to the front of check in via the “Executive Check in Service” and pre booked seats as well, this can only be achieved via Thomson al a Carte holidays.

There are 24 rooms in total including 4 Suites. The rooms are all apartments, fully functional Kitchen with all new appliances including microwave, halogen hob, kettle, very cold fridge. A lounge with sat TV, a very large white bathroom with double sinks and bidet, a Bedroom with twin beds (not double) and a hall with a huge wardrobe with a free safe. Rooms are cleaned to a very high standard each day.

The rooms are fully air conditioned 24 hours a day, ranging from cold, very cold and bloody cold. Brilliant.

The holiday from the Thomson brochure is B&B, we strongly recommend that you take the half board option at a supplement of £16 each per person per day. The food is first class, 100 out of 100, the service is brilliant and is all waiter service, and breakfast is self service.

Lunch is served at the pool bar or restaurant, again first class.

Taxi to Ibiza Town costs 20 euros each way and is well worth a visit, go to the old fort, harbour and shopping in the old town is an absolute must.

Very small self contained pool area, ideal if you just want to get away from it all, sun beds are the best I have seen so far, mattress is padded to a depth of 4 inches; Childs play area and a pool table. Be warned, try and visit this hotel out of kids school holiday period, the Spanish will be there in force during August.

Internet and email service assess available at 1 euro for 10 minutes.

BBC world Service is very limited if you area a Chelsea supporter like me.

The local Spar shop is excellent, all national news papers are printed daily in Mallorca.

The local beach (Oh Dear) is a good miss very dirty, lots of rubbish and don’t miss the local tennis training camp just behind the beach bars!!

Friends recommended this hotel as one of the best private hotels in Ibiza, they were absolutely correct; this is a hidden jewel, an absolute treasurer. However, once outside of the hotel complex I would describe the surrounding area as “The Hilton Hotel in a barren waste land”.

All in all a super holiday

" This is a wonderful, relaxed and... "

This is a wonderful, relaxed and informal hotel with delightful staff. We are a family of 5 and have 3 children of 17 13 and 9. We never go to the same place twice, but went twice last year and are returning again next week!

The hotel is in a beautiful location with panoramic views of the ocean, the buffet meals are lovely and can be taken outside which we particularly like. There are 2 pools, one of which is used for all the activites on offer.

There is shooting, archery, water polo, other games and water sports on the beach, most of which is included! There is also a lovely craft room. All of these activities can be enjoyed by the whole family and are all set in a delightful setting, uncrowded and not the slightest bit tacky.

You can walk for miles in either direction along the coastal path wihout a road in sight! You can walk to 3 other lovely beaches along this path as well as the local market There is a real sense of freedom here and yet plenty to get involved with day and evening!A touch of paradise at very reasonable rates.

Ibiza has a magical charm and is a beatiful place with turqoise seas and uncrowded beaches. Ibiza town is a glorious medieval town with many other places to visit.
After dark the choice is yours from quiet candlelit dinners to the chill out bars or the amazing clubs, anything goes!
