We took our 4 children (10, 8, 6 and 5 years)to the El Greco for a week's late Summer holiday. We all loved it! There was plenty to do during the day, with activities organised every hour or so during the day, such as football, water polo, pool, darts, shuffleboard .... ... more

My friend and I along with my kids spent a week at the El Greco in June. We had the most fantastic time and I could't fault a single aspect of the holiday. If you aren't great at climbing stairs or are in a wheelchair then I wouldn't advise this resort as it is on a hill... more

My family (2 adults, 2 children aged 10 & 14) have recently returned from El Greco. We stayed for 11 nights and booked with Thomas Cook. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area was small but we never stayed in one place... more

This was a truly terrible experience. My partner and I booked this hotel through Flight Centre from the UK - we arrived and to our surprise they had given away our room. Apparently if you don't check in by 12noon on the day of your arrival they are at liberty to re-sell... more

Going Back Again
Just to let you Know Do NOT Believe the Bad points until you have been its Totally Wrong. Everyone as there own say but it Depends on when you Go & what you have planned. As an hotel with so many people it get %110 from us can write to let you know any details on the el greco
brilliant resort and hotel
Just came back from a week in the el greco and we had a fantastic time. I planned a suprise holiday with my dad and friend and took 3 kids. Our rooms were on reception level which was brilliant as we didnt have to treck up and down the stairs. The rooms a very clean (cleaned everyday) the bathroons / shower are excellant very big. Previously me and my partner came in 2001 and recommended it to them, the hotel is in a very could location with the beach on your doorstep and all the gifts and booze less than a two minutes walk away across it. The children loved the sea as it was so clear they went snorkling with the fish and the rest of the day in the water park. The children didnt join in with any activities as the were to busy exploring the area themselves and making friends. Entertainment was brilliant on an evening from drag acts to a one man bad and hypmotis. The food was good lots of choice. Only one thing we weren't happy about was the trips the reps sell you at the welcome meeting. VERY EXPENSIVE we did only pay for one and that was anchors away which was an excellant family cruise out. All in all we had an excellant time and have already booked for aug next year. Hope you do to
good value holiday
we booked a last minute deal with thomson for 11 nights, and found it to be good value. The food was very good, plenty of variety, the freshly cooked pizza was great. We found the staff to be polite and helpful and they speak very good english. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and comfortable. The best bit by far is the beach, right on the doorstep. If you are looking for a lively holiday, or can't climb many steps then this isn't for you, but if you are wanting a nice quiet break for a week in the sun then it's ideal.
hated the grotty EL Greco
We have just returned after 2 weeks at this resort we took a 3*A.I.late deal with thomsons. To say we were sadly let down by this hotel is putting it mildly we were given a room on rec. level noise was unbearable so offered a room 303 which we turned down as outside the balcony was a great vent from either/or kitchens/laundry,they then gave us a room on 5 floor which was much better. The rooms are the most basic we have ever been in with 2 campbed type beds small and very uncomfortable, this made no difference because impossible to sleep with children playing all hours day and night.there seemed to be no security anywhere stopping them. The first week the food was fairly good but 2 week went worse as week went on this was probably due to fact shutting down 5 days after we came back. This hotel is not suitable for any persons with chest or leg ailments as there are 53 steps from bar level to beach then hill to small area with 2 gift 2 bars,2 restuarents, 2 small spars which were nearly empty as they were closing for season and were not stocking any fresh goods.Again to go to pool area there was total of 42 steps to negoitate, first 7 days weather was overcast so no pool bar open then weather changed but when Rep approached to get bar open was told to go to reception and complain myself, this went on for 3 days until I caught rep, headwaiter at rec.they then said not enough people by pool I said if only 10 people the bar was supposed to be open. They then opened bar but at lunchtime head barman came and closed it as people had gone to food, complained and reopened later. The evening entertainment was all in the 1 bar area with children running riot plus 3 pool tables and pinball machines, the noise was horrendos and forced half of the older people to go to local bars.I suffer with chest & arthritus and couldn,t breathe with smoke and low ceilings and was forced to walk to small spainish snack bar to eat & drink, nearly everybody was waiting to go home and met 2 younger scotsmen who asked would we like to extend our holiday and they would rather fly home to Cardiff and would make their own way to Scotland than stay another 5 days.Overall this is definetly the worst hotel and holiday i have had in 30 holidays with Thomsons and would advise any older persons and teenagers to avoid this hotel because there is no place to sit in comfort or for 18-25,s to go.
Great value holiday
My family and I have just returned from El Greco, its the third time that we have stayed there over the last few years. The food was excellent with plenty of choice. Our kids loved the water park and this years entertainment team were brilliant, keeping them occupied right through the day. Be warned there are a lot of steps around the hotel,I wouldn't go there if I had to take a push chair or such like. Its a shame that some people don't seem to care what there kids are doing whilst on holiday, some got very rowdy around the pool at times. A lot of people moaned about this, the area needs an attendant to supervise things. All said and done, for a relatively cheap all inclusive holiday, ElGreco is very good value
truthfull review
My family and i went to the El Greco at the end of july 2005 for 10 days. The rooms are basic with 3 beds put together, but are clean and tidy. Air con and tv are ok but in saying that you don't go on holidays to spend all your time in the room. Maids came every day to clean and change towels. If you want to stay by the pool you will have to get up to put your towels out at about 7am-hehe. Space by the pool is limited and cramped so we went to the beach all but 1 day.The hotel is right on the beach which is great but there are about 20-30 steps to it.The beach is lovely. The hotel has day and night entertainment which is quite good. The hotel is clean and tidy, the reception staff were really helpfull, the bar staff did their job but weren't that friendly! The food was good, the kids loved the pizza man. There's not much to do in this small resort but we knew that before we went, and still liked it.The water park next to the hotel is small but the kids loved it and we visited it every day (closed on saturdays). All said and done we would go back there again.
can't complain
2nd visit to el greco. also booked for 2006. have been to MANY all inclusive hotels worldwide and this is excellant value for money and free child places up to 16. if you want better than you should pay more and not opt for one of the cheapest all inclusive holidays around. for what you pay per person per day how can anyone moan? (and yes we heard people complaining- even about the entertainers saying "come on you lazy people".) it works out cheaper than a day at alton towers and no queues except at the bar for last orders plenty of variety in the diniing room can't understand the people who said it was repetetive unless they were eating burger, chips and pizzas!! excellant for not seeing the kids all day except for passing in the dining room where carlos was qiute happy for children to go in (without parents) and eat together
El Greco - Great place for Families
We booked this holiday on a recomendation from a friend. Before we went we looked at the reviews, and thought what had we booked into,,,although my friend ensure me it was great. When we got there, initial impression was reception very modern, has been recently revamped and made bigger. Staff very friendly. The room was fairly small for a family of 4..but at the end of the day you are on holiday, you should not spend an awful lot of time in your room. The pool area has also been decorated and is vey clean. The pool bar was open from 11am daily, which was great for the kids going up and down to get icecream and drinks...waiters very friendly and very good with the kids. The food was excellent we did not have a single complaint. OUr reps were fantastic, particularly the hotel's reps who were jenni...she was great and was forever taking ourlittle girl out for walks or to the water park.. We did not have as good a impression for the thomsons reps, they were not around very often. Evening entertainment was good, kids disco to start then adult entertainment, some nights good some nights not so good,,,but you are on holiday, it is up to you to enjoy it,,,and that we did. We met up with some great friends and were very sorry to be going home. Please do not beleive everything you see on here...We would certainly go back...and 500 steps IS an exageration to the beach, and people who complain,k they should read the brochure before you book....it tells you about the steps.
going back!!
On reading the comments in this forum, have to say was shocked!!!!! I was at the El Greco in July 2004, we had a lovely relaxing holiday. On arrival My boyfriend and I had a room on the 1st floor, which looked out onto a brick wall, we complained and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful, they moved us!!! my children and parents had rooms that overlooked the sea...wow breathtaking. The rest of the holiday was spent on the beach and in the water park, perfect....I have to say the pool aready is perhaps a little small for the size of the hotel (but hey the beach makes up for that), the water park, yes we had hours of fun there. The town is small, but there was a brilliant market just outside the hotel on a Sunday, and I brought more than 2 handbags............... the food was always of a good standard and the waitresses were more than friendly!!!! So all in all, have to say we have booked to go back, I read this forum and am shocked by some of the comments, a holiday is what you make it and Portinax and the El Greco is in my book Lovely!!!!
repping hotel from hell
i was a rep for thomsons at the hotel el grecco during april 2004-july 2004 , the hotel is shabby,it is very noisy at nyt times chidren running up and down corridors id have people queing up at the desk complaning every morning.but no matter wot we did itd still continue, familys fiting, children flying arond the whole hotel 24hrs screaming, the pool is basic, and theire is about 500 steps down to the beach impossible for people with prams.so i wouldnt even bother.the beach though is beautiful the most beautiful i think in the whole ov ibiza.but do be warned that mid season the sea gets swamed by jellyfish and it becomes a dare 2 get in or not.iv read the comment about thir being "poo" onthe beach. i can deniey that this was so it wasnot waste it was jus sea water form a pipe we did inform the guests this but they all think the worste and gossip. looking for "claims".the entertainment in the hotel is not run by thomsons so they have no control over it.last year it was run by steve ! yes a very arrogant french man, who bullyed the 2 spanish girls he worked with.his shows wer really funny in a crap kind ov way, grease and french bingo, which adults never mind little kids could understand(hidi hi entertainment).we did pass all the guests bad comments onto the hotel manerger who then came back an showed us the comment rates he had recived for entertainment which scored as excellent!(the forms you fill in on your way home on the plane, and which you giv ratings for)so we couldnt help.the food is advrage ok i suppose for familys. but the dining room does get a bit crammed.the allinclusiveness ov this hotel i think ruined it,by attacting the type ov persons who jus wish to get drunk all day and watch thier children run mad. skytores we nicknames scumtores for the type ov peple we got off the flights.i certinaly woul not wanna pay to stay in this hotel. the resort ov portinax, the word desolate! springs to mide. i would no holiday here iv u paid me.bringing my transer busses into resort was terrible.first you climb a mountain to witch your ears pop.then you desend into portinax the father most point ov ibiza.the resort consists ov the hotls, main square and the beach. in the main squre thier is a few spas. a boozy buys"fake bargin booze",an 2 bars "delboys"+"vincents" delboys is ok for about 2 visits and vincents is open til 2.thats it no more! it gets very repetative cause you have no where else to go!!!!!! the nearest shopping center is sana eulallia 15 mins in a taxi, 20 eros 1 way!!!! and ibiza town is 40 mins away and costs about 40-50 euros one way!! in a taxi ! hefty wen your thire for 7-14 nyts and belive me you will wanna escape you will want to get out as much as poissible! thier is a bus witch runs to ibiza twn from potinatx once evey hr til 17.30. but dnt forget the last one back is 19.30 so iv u miss it ull b looking at 50 euros to get hm.thier r a few bars along the beachbut noting special thirs about 2 and the smell ov the beach in the evening wold but you off it smell lyk raw sewarge.i coldnt carry on working in this resort so i moved in july. i tryed but portinatx "the snatch" as we called it jus got 2 much. i wold advise anyone not to holiday here unless the enjoyd torture. and as for the hotel el grecco. r name was the"hel getto" beware.
