May 2007, Miss C Duval

I really enjoyed my holiday I must say.
When I went I particularly enjoyed the entertainment by Stanley and Leah, they both tried so hard and every night spent watching them they were great.
They put on amazing shows one of them were the millennium show part 2 and they were both hard working people who always made a laugh with things!
The hotel was lovely however the bath was dirty when we got there, there was no hairdryer, iron, and other things that were said to be there in the brochure, but overall a good holiday!

Mar 2007, Miss Sl Hall

Well what can I say! I’ve been going to this hotel for every year for 6 years now and I am returning this year for my 7th! The hotel is great!
The hotel staff are great, certainly each time I have been there they have always gone out of their way to assist me.
The meals are fantastic! I am a vegetarian so the time I went, I thought that there would not be much I could eat, however they have a wide verity of food including some wonderful vegetarian options.
There is fresh fruit and veg everyday and the menu changes day to day.
The entertainment is not the best but its NOT terrible as some people have said, kids will love it and as for adults the drink is free (well paid for) so any entertainment is great.
There are also some great pubs over across the beach which provides a great night out there’s entertainment and a disco every night.
As for Portinatx itself you couldn’t be in a more picture perfect place. The beach is beautiful the sea is really clear and you’re never short of things to do.
There are plenty of activities to do on the beach from banana boats to glass bottom boats.
The locals in Portinatx are also very friendly I have often played football with some of the local boys and anyone can join in.
If you want a great family holiday go to the hotel El Greco! It's great!

Feb 2007, Mrs K Knight

Well we stayed at the smell Greco for a week in September 06, and to be honest I was dreading it after reading the reviews, but I really enjoyed our stay!
Yes there was a smell but not for long and it didn’t spoil your evening.
Yes there were a lot of steps but, even they weren’t a problem, we went with a 79 year old and she was fine!
Yes the rooms were basic but you’re only in them to sleep and to get ready.
But... the food was fab! The hotel was very big and clean, the Spanish entertainment was great but we were embarrassed at the Thomson reps, their entertainment was rubbish. But they were only on for about 2 nights I think.
The waterpark was great, free to get in and could get beers and ice creams if you wanted them. Free sun beds up there, we went in there everyday. Till it shut!
Giovanni the pizza man was very pleasant although he couldn’t speak much English and his food was to die for, we never knew anyone that was ill from the food.
I thought they worked very hard and must’ve been fed up at the end of the day with all the dishes they prepared for us all.
Don’t get up halfway through your dinner though or it will get thrown away, they were very keen to keep collecting pots in, but I think if they didn’t they would end up with a huge mess!
The only problem for us were the noisy holiday makers, but that wasn’t the hotels fault. At night you could hear loads of noise which kept you awake.
We are going back next August and I would be very surprised if we didn’t have another good holiday.

Portinatx is beautiful, and very quiet. The hotel El Greco is All Inclusive with Thomson and as such attracts a particular sort of guest.
The hotel is clean and staff hard working. The food is excellent and lots of choice at all meals. The hotel does its best, but the huge amount of kids who run around unattended while the parents have "lets see how much we can all drink contests" somewhat lower the tone.
If you want a Blackpool kind of hotel then this is for you. If not go to the Presidente Player next door as this is a far superior operation.

Hi all well I’ve just recently come...

Oct 2006, Miss C Thain

Hi all well I’ve just recently come back (2nd Oct 06) from Ibiza and I also stayed at the hotel above! Well I found this website the day before I went on holiday and after I had read all the comments my holiday was ruined I was so disappointed with things that were said! It was my first time abroad alone with just a friend I was scared already but by now I was dreading it!
Well for you who are going to go to El Greco hotel in the future here’s what I think about my stay there over all! Well the transfer from the airport took bout 90mins we were last to be dropped off and I was getting a bit worried by now thinking what a state the hotel was going to be in but when we pulled up I was surprised it looked ok clean and I couldn’t smell a thing so I was pleased at that!
We got to our room no it wasn’t that great but it’s a place to sleep so we got on with it! That night we dint get there till 11.30pm there time so we just had a quick look round and then I could smell the sewage rite near the pool! And all week that’s where the smell came from but I only smelt it at night times! Well there’s a water park which is not great about 5 slides and that’s it they don’t look too healthy and there not that brilliant either!
There is only 1 pool at the hotel fair size not many people go in it the very, very cold when you first get in! Beach absolutely gorgeous weather fantastic! Not much to do there you are kind of in the middle of no where there are some shops and bars up the hill that’s bout your lot! We were in the bar most nights cause there isn’t a lot of entertainment for adults! Bare in mind we are 18 and you know what we’re like! The staff were friendly food ok same basically everyday! I would say it’s a family hotel mainly with little kids and the older people to!
They do, do trips out which are good the reps are good too they are there when and if you need them! Basically over all I wouldn’t go back to that same hotel again because there wasn’t hardly anything to do! Just so you get what I’m saying when the coach left with all us guests on to go back to the airport to go home everyone started cheering! And people were also calling it Hell Greco sorry to say!
So there’s my view I thought it would b useful as it’s recent.

Sep 2006, Mr M S Waddilove

Whilst I was very pleased with the resort of Portinatx, the El Greco hotel fell way short of what I was expecting for the money we paid.
The food at meal times was ok but not great, and the 'snacks'...well, I don't think we ever found anything worthy of the name. The hotel was very noisy and overrun with kids, our teenagers were treated exactly the same as the toddlers if we let the staff get away with it, and there was a horrible smell of sewage.
The hotel entertainment was for the most part abysmal, and in the end we spent nearly every evening away from the hotel, not the idea on an all inclusive holiday! To sum up, I'd definitely go back to Portinatx, but I'd steer well clear of the Hell Greco!
Oh, and a big 'thumbs up' to Vincent's bar!

Sep 2006, Mr M Carrington

Having read all the comments I'm a little worried to how these people sleep at night without fearing they miss something to moan about whilst they're eyes are shut!!
Let's go through the bad parts first.
Yes, there is a slight smell but it is not unbearable and similar to the smell you get all over the country that doesn't have the best drainage system!!
The entertainment is not great and the kid’s reps don't get over motivated but Stanley, Yvette & Leah do not stop working and always have a friendly chat.
Yes, there are a lot of steps but that is explained in the brochure and it's not too much hard work. We went with 2 pensioners who coped fine!!
The resort is quiet, but some people prefer that type of holiday to Playa Den Bossa for example. It's a lot safer for kids in Portinatx.
On the plus side the food is excellent and varied, the beach is beautiful and very close.
The water park is an inclusive you would find in virtually no other hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
In the resort the Cafe Real is a lovely place to get a meal and Vincent’s Bar is brilliant with friendly service from Danny, Jose and Javi who become good friends of yours by the end of the holiday!!
The El Greco is not pretending to be the Ritz. It's trying to be a fun, family hotel which supplies a suitable, all-inclusive service and I believe it does.

My boyfriend and I have just returned...

Sep 2006, Miss S Preece

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week’s holiday in the hotel el Greco we had a nice time. The food was lovely and there was a wide choice of both starters and main courses, there was always food for the kids. The water park was a nice little extra about the hotel there are only a few slides but they are good fun and there are life guards present all the time.
We had a family room, there was plenty of space for the 2 of us but with four people in it, it would be a bit cramped. As a warning if you do not pay extra for the sea view in the room do not expect a good view (ours was of a brick wall). A lot of other comments have mentioned the smell of sewage this is present but mainly when it was windy and only in certain places, the smell is stronger at night.
The entertainment within the day is of a good standard if you want to join in. the evening entertainment is a little poor but so are most other hotels. The only other downfall was the amount of steps but this can’t be helped and you get used to them (this is mentioned in the brochure)
Overall we enjoyed our holiday and loved the old camp fire song!!!

Well I don’t know where to start...

Sep 2006, Miss Rachel Davis

Well I don’t know where to start really. To be honest never go to the El Greco because it’s more like Hell Greco. I hated the place all of us did that’s 9 of us. We also met a family of four from our village in England and they all hated it to.
The Food was nice but after eating with El Greco for 4 days you had their range. I was Ill I believe off the food. They re fill the tin trays with out empty them 1st so the food at the bottom doesn’t get eating I may only be 14 but this makes the food re heated an re heated then went some one comes along and get the food at the bottom they may get food poisoning. I think my dad got this on holiday he was ill in bed for 3 days. I have recently taken food Gcse and now I understand what had been going on.
The Smell of sewage was disgusting everyone complained about it constantly. If you want to pay lots of money for a little pool and dirty slides and pay for you bed everyday at the beach because there isn’t enough round the pool although if you got up at like 6am you maybe would get 2 beds.
You don’t understand what I am saying till you have been their. Don’t go if you do u will regret it.I was so relived when the Pilot said we Have Just Landed in England ....I was Chuffed
Thanks Rachel Davis County Durham....Age 14

I agree strongly with Mrs. Jones. The steps where abit too much for a few people. As it was a family holiday me (18) mum (who’s disabled) and sister (15) we found stuff to do to keep entertained and I did enjoy myself the views where stunning and the staff had a fair bit of character which did brighten the place up. I would go back as I found it easy to keep myself occupied with fishing water skiing the water park and the daily activities. All of the local shop keepers were very friendly and welcoming. The smell was quite bad at certain times and places but overall it was bearable.

Sep 2006, Mrs M Rees

Well after reading some of the reviews before going on our holiday it would put anyone going but we had a fantastic time. Six adults, two boys (aged 15 and 16) and a girl (aged 3).
Never saw the boys as they were busy playing football, snooker competition, darts, water polo etc. In the evening they would go off with there friends to a couple of the English bars and it was safe and quiet to let them do this. Little girl had a fab time and the reps Leah, Stanley and Yvette were absolutely brilliant with the kids.
Hotel clean, rooms basic but for the time that was spent in the them we could have slept in a tent. Food was fab with something to suit everyone pizza, pasta, burgers, chips, fish, plenty of meat (steak, pork, lamb, chicken) salads and plenty of ice-cream and desert.
The only smell of sewerage was about a couple of minutes a day and after a couple of days didn't seem to notice. The pool doesn't have the sun all day so we spent time on the beach which was brill as we went snorkelling, on the pedlos and had a lot of fun.
Well we will definitely return as was a beautiful place with just enough going on but no hustle and bustle. There are cash machines as I read before going that there was no bank services. Also a bus service. Anyway overall a fantastic, relaxing time.

Sep 2006, Mrs T WATKINS

Was a bit apprehensive before we got to El Greco after reading the reviews! But as a family of four with two boys aged 14 & 12 we cannot fault the activities which kept the boys busy for the best part of the 2 weeks we were there.
Kids happy means parents happy. We have been to a few all-inclusive holidays over the years and found El Greco to be one of the best.
Rooms are basic but we don’t go on a 2 week holiday to spend it in the room! They were cleaned every day that we where there. Found the staff to be pleasant
Best thing of all no Germans! All British families.
Would go back to the hotel and resort
