Fantastic hotel, fantastic holiday!
The Cala Nova is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, there is an extremely wide variety of delicious food available, and the staff are unbelievably friendly. Activities are run daily by a committed team of entertainers and the nightly shows are always enjoyable. The hotel caters for everyone: old travellers, disabled travellers, families with young children, couples and teenagers. I will definitely be back!
Brilliant hotel
Had one week in Cala Nova ending aug 14 th. It is a lovely hotel, with good sized rooms and good air con and ceiling fans. Very clean (exept for under the beds!!) And a very good buffet breakfast and evening. The hotel has a brilliant daily entertainment system, signalled by a dreadful 80's song, but to which the small children flocked. This meant peaceful times for parents and adults around the pool, while kids were captivated by kite making and ornament painting (yes really!) amongst other things. Evening entertainment by the pool was good if thats what you want. The daily charge of 13 euros for an all inc drink package seemed too good to miss, though probably only serves its purpose if you stay in the hotel day and night. Saying that it was cheaper for kids and is probably worth its weight in gold when they ask for their 6 th coke of the day. I would recomend this hotel wholeheartedly. its a little walk to town but right on the beach and in a lovely position. There is a local supermarket that does lovely fresh baguettes, for peanuts! There are 2 bars down to the left of the hotel, right on the beach, very nice. Also, the weekly hippy market is in this town too. Within walking distance from the hotel. The local bus service is a 5-7 min walk away and goes mainly to santa eulalia, from where you can get everywhere. I would recommend this hotel without a moments doupt.
Fantastic Holiday
Our family of four ( adults age 44, son 12, daughter 16 ) have just spent 2 weeks at the Cala Nova Hotel, and would go back tomorrow ! we had a great time. Highlights - the fantastic food, the great waves at the beach. Water polo and water volleyball - great fun. Entertainers were great - Fay from Wales and Paco from Ibiza were multi-talented and great with all ages. Weather was fantastic and the views from the hotel superb. I would strongly suggest you try out the para sailing ( parachute towed by speedboat ) from Es Cana - we all did it and its great !. ( 40 Euros each - approx £ 28 but worth it ) . Formentera boat trip is long at 1.5 hours and beach very hot ,with no shade or umbrellas for hire, beach restaurant is expensive. So a bit dissapointing. Low lights - really stuggling here, just the normal 8 am dash with 4 towels to the get the sunbeds at the pool side and noisey bin men at 7 am. Regrets - maybe should have paid for the drinks wrist band for a week, not sure though as we are not big drinkers. I've got a beef with Portland who charged us for "under-occupancy" for 2 in a room which is only big enough for 2 beds. We saw other rooms where 3 single beds were sqeezed in and it was cramped. We met lots of families who have been returning there for 3 or 4 years in a row, we would consider going again.
very nice hotel
We've just had 2 weeks half board at the Cala Nova and were very impressed with the hotel. Location is good, being very close to the beach and only 5 minutes walk from the resort centre where there is another (busier) beach. The food was excellent considering it's a 3 star hotel, with lots of variety over our stay. The rooms are a little bit small and had a few ants living there as well, and there are only 2 small lifts serving the entire hotel. The staff all seemed friendly, though the evening entertainment was nothing to write home about. If you want a sunbed and parasol be prepared to get down to the pool and stake your claim with towels before 8am, otherwise you have to lie on the beach sunbeds which are 3 euros each and another 3 euros for a parasol. We took ferry trips to Santa Eulalia (8 euro pp return) and formentera (25 euro pp return). St Eulalia was a bit overdeveloped for our liking but there are plenty of beachfront restaurants. Formentera has a lovely beach but very few restaurants there so make sure you take food and water - we tried to get into 3 and they all required pre-booking, and the only place we found that sold drinks charged us 12 euros for 1 litre water and 2 cans of coke. A total ripoff. Overall a very pleasant hotel - we've stayed in worse 4* hotels than this particular 3*
Great holiday
My 18 year old daughter and I took a last minute Thomson's deal for a week recently and we were really impressed with this hotel. It's in a great position, right on the small Cala Nova beach which is much quieter that Es Cana just down the road. (We didn't like Es Cana much - all neon signs and souvenir shops and bars.) There's a great beach bar right near the hotel. The pool area was always crowded with the usual bagsied sunbeds without occupants (why do people do that?). We found it too hot around the pool and preferred to pay for sunbeds and parasols on the beach. Thomsons rate it as 4* - we would agree with the official 3* rating but it is one of the better hotels we've stayed at. We had a seaview room which was well decorated, clean and comfortable with a good bathroom. Air con was not efficient enough to cool the room in July and we had a few uncomfortable nights. Staff were really pleasant and helpful, particularly on reception. We hired a car for 2 days to look around the island and loved cala St Vincent in the north. Overall it was a great holiday and excellent value for money. We were particularly impressed with the food and it was really refreshing not to hear people moaning that there was nothing they liked!
Hotel Cala Nova
Just returned from a week at Hotel Cala Nova in Es Cana. Overall very impressed, although first impressions of reception area and lounge/barwhich is very dated and could do with refurb left us dubious. However, the hotel was very nice, the pool area was lovely with great views over the bay and a fabulous little beach with a couple of nice bars next to it. The rooms were very small for a family, however were clean and modern with good airconditioning. The rooms are joined on one side by a connecting door which is fine if you are travelling with friends or family next to you but not a great idea if not as they are very thin and you can hear everything. The only major problem we had, as we had read on other reviews, was the sound of bin men between 6-6.30am which was VERY loud if you are overlooking the bins as we were in rooms 206-207 but anyone below or above would have the same problem, so try and avoid them if you can. The food option was good, with plenty to choose from and it is well worth taking the all inclusive drinks option once you get there as you can have bottles of wine with your meal and drinks throughout the day. The entertainment was the usual and average although we are not fans of hotel entertainment anyway, but the children (aged 2 and 4) loved the mini disco from 8.30 - 9pm and made lots of new friends. For those with children, an easy ten minute walk into the resort will bring you to a couple of fairgrounds and some nice bars and restaurants. The jacaranda is lovely during the day for a drink and snack on the seafront. If you fancy trying st eulalia, it is a ten minute taxi ride, approx. 9euro from hotel, which has a nice marina and definitely recommended is the 'Gallery' restaurant on Cala San Vincente ('restaurant street') where we had one of the best meals we have ever had (and we are very fussy!!) Overall a lovely little resort especially for families, particularly the area around Cala Nova and just beyond. We had a great week and were pleasantly suprised, and would return one day but would pay extra to upgrade to one of the larger rooms and hopefully the public areas inside the hotel will have been updated then as well.
Superb, Wonderful Holidays
Having been a little wary about Ibiza !! we visited in June 1998, as then a couple of 40 somethings, staying in Es Canar and the Hotel Cala Nova was one of the best choices that we made and have had 4 wonderful visits since then to this hotel and have booked another one for September this year. The hotel is extremely well maintained the rooms are spotless, staff are very friendly and helpful that includes the maids that keep your rooms A1 nothing is a problem. The food at the hotel is superb, so much choice you don't know where to start or finish !! The Chef of the hotel is there every night with his little helpers to make sure that if you want something cooked there and then its done for you freshly ( and its the same for breakfast). The grounds surrounding the hotel are also very good, well maintained pleasant to stroll. with wonderful sea views. Then just a 2 min walk away at the side of the pool is a gate that leads you too the most inviting beach with the bluest water ever with its very own taverna for lunch the staff here were great (mad but great). So can't wait for our next visit.
Loved the hotel
My husband and I have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Hoel Cala Nova in Es Cana.We found the hotel to be excellent, but the evening entertainment could be a little bette, despite the excellent work done by the entertainment crew. We found the staff and facilities at the hotel to be very good, especially the choice of food provided for all meals. Perhaps the bar area in the hotel could do with a little updating, but the rooms were of a very good standard for this price of hotel. We found once all entertainment finished at midnight the hotel was generally very quiet, only noise from people arriving at the Hotel during the night time. We found the rest of the guests staying at the hotel to be very friendly and the daytime activities to be great fun to participate in. We would certainly return to this Hotel and resort, cannot recommend it enough.
Perfect!!
We have just returned from two weeks at the fabulous Fiesta Hotel Cala Nova in Ibiza. Everything about the stay was brilliant - the weather was hot and sunny everyday - it was hard to drag ourselves away from the pool! Our room was clean and tidy with a lovely balcony overlooking the stunning beach. The food was fabulous - we were on half board and weren't disapponted. There was a huge choice and something for everyone. The pool area was lovely and lead down to the beautiful beach where you could lie on a sun lounger if all the pool ones had been taken by the early birds! All the staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay extremely enjoyable. Overall, this was the best hotel we had stayed at in a long time and can't find any faults with it. We will be returning next year!
home again
This will be our 18th year, still love it. Same hotel, room, staff, even other guests from other countries, its lovely to see everyone that you have gotten to know over the years, even if ,you or they ,do not speak each others language. We love the Island some much that, hopefuly, that is where we are retiring to, we do keep looking for that affordable place. But until then the Cala Nova is, as i say , our second home.
