Very pleased
We stayed at this hotel the first week in June with our 2 girls aged 11 and 14. Having never done the all incl, thing before and being a fussy eater i was a tad nervous about what to expect. The rooms are great lots of wardrobe space, air con is fantastic, maid service every day and fresh towels is you so wish. The only downside is that the walls are paper thin, but take earplugs and you'll be fine. The food is of a good standard, great choice at every mealtime, fresh and good quality. Choices at every meal time meant that nobody left the table feeling hungry. I did feel that the lunchtime menu was better than the eve with fresh roast cuts of meat being available at most lunchtimes. All staff couldnt have been friendlier, they aim to please. Yes you get plastic cups to drink from but they are nice and it means that you can take them out to the pool and have a drink there. Okay so they dont do sangria, but they do everything else incl champagne! I agree with theie policy of not booking sunbeds by placing towels on them, they open the pool at 9am, the beds they provide are so comfy and they dont charge for them. The entertainment wasnt to our taste but for many it provided a good evening entertainment.I liked how, at luchtime to coincide with the midday sun they put on a movie for the kids inside. All in all we had a great holiday and its one of the few places we have been over the years that i can say hand on heart that we would do back to
hotel still clumba mar
there was nine of us staying from the 10th may this year couldn't really complain about the hotel much the pools were great rooms were tidy walls were a bit thin the entertainment was reasonable on a night couldn't belive how friendly everyone was .but the few bad points were the drinks were in horible plastic beakers which made them taste funny and the evening meals were really poor the kids choice was better than the main dishes but the breakfasts were great. also the snacks were a bit of a let down but then improved towards the end of our holiday but 4 the price we paid it was reasonably good
Rubbish!!!!!
My husband and I stayed at this hotel also the 2nd week of May and found it to be quite uneventful!!! Having been "All Inclusive" before for the past 2 years this hotel and Thomson have an awful lot to learn about variety and Customer Service!! No rep to see us from airport to hotel, no rep to see us from hotel to airport, directions given to bus stop were no good. Hotel clean, rooms clean, food was rubbish and not much variety at all. Food sometimes lukewarm or cold, served on tea plates at lunchtime so my husband had to go up twice on occasions!! No Sangria served in a Spanish Hotel!!! Best bit of holiday was going to see the Pirates Adventure in Magaluf, Fantastic. We won't be going back to Clumba Mar or ever booking through Thomson again.
This hotel is great!
We stayed at this hotel for the 2nd time in May 2007, having previously stayed here last July. Loved this hotel last year when it was half board and was slightly apprehensive that it would not be so good now that it is all inclusive. However, it was still as good. The food is great with plenty of choice. The hotel is also very clean with maid service every day. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are excellent. The hotel is also ideally situated within easy walking distance of the fantastic beach and numerous shops and restaurants. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The evening entertainment is also very good. Overall it is fantastic value for money. Buses run locally to Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa. The boat trips from the harbour are also recommended.
FANTASTIC!!!
Me and my other half stayed here 'all inclusive' for the second week of May. This was our first holiday abroad together. We're in our early 20's and thouroghly enjoyed ourselves. As a young couple i was worried there wouldnt be alot to do but there are some great bars and clubs nearby, but not close enough to hear. The hotel entertainment is mainly for kids so we spent most nights out walking or at the Caracas bar across the road where the staff there are all fantastic and so friendly!!! The food was great, always hot and lots of variety. Drinks were great and the measures massive. The rooms were cleaned every day and the poolside was always clear. Cant really fault this hotel, should be a 4 star. The beach is litteraly a 4 minute walk and the beach is clean and really beautiful. There are lots of shops about, and there are busses everywhere every half hour. Theres also a waterpark in alcudia which is only half hour away. Will deffinately be booking up for next year!!
Fantastic!
We arrived at the Clumba Mar on the day that it opened for the season on the 1st May for a 2 week 'all inclusive' stay (I was the first in the pool this season). For the first 2 days, we were 2 of 6 guests. Over the period of the two weeks, We have not one single complaint about the hotel. It was clean, the staff were helpful and polite, and even the food was good (Perhaps a little greasy). The only things that were not completely 'Perfect' were: 1, A few of the days, our rooms did not get cleaned even when the 'Please clean my room' sign was displayed. 2, We were very dizzy for a few minutes after using the lifts - Very strange! 3, We had twin beds instead of a double and they were not very comfortable! 4, The Air conditioning wasn't very good. 5, The walls are paper thin! 6, The bar did not serve Sangria! Overall, the hotel was fantastic and the location was brilliant! It is close enough to the beach but far away from the shops and restaurants for peace and privacy in the evening whilst relaxing on the balcony. Highly Recommended!
Why cahnge this hotel to 'all inclusive'
We stayed at the Clumba Mar for the 3rd time last August, and the hotel, staff, food, facilities etc were as good as ever. On leaving we were really disappointed to learn that the hotel was being forced by the Stil group to go 'all inclusive'. We were told that one of the hotels in the group had to go all inclusive, and the Clumba Mar was chosen as it was their oldest hotel. The staff were unhappy at this prospect, and so were many of the 'regulars' who stay there. I really hope that the standards are maintained, but I have a feeling that they won't be. I have real doubts as to whether the size of the bar/entertainment room can cope with a hotel full of guests wanting to drink there all night. In the past, many people have gone out to the bars on the prom, or across the road to Wotsit for the quiz and Samir's legendary bingo, but those who choose this hotel in future will, rightly so, want to have the benefit of free drinks all night. I really hope Samir's profits don't suffer from this idiotic decision. We may have been unlucky with Spanish all inclusives in the past, but I don't think they offer the same standards as half board hotels. I will wait to read reviews on the all inclusive before I book again.
lovin the Clumba Mar
This was are third time at the Clumba Mar having been before in August. I travelled with my two daughters aged 12 and 15 and two friends with their children aged 11 17 and 12 As three women travelling alone you cant go wrong at the Clumba Mar . Dont expect the height of luxury but the hotel is exceptionally clean and very friendly we even recieved a bunch of flowers as it was are third visit. All the children made lots of friends on each visit and the entertainment staff are fantastic. The hotel itself has great evening entertainment which also includes the bar across the road where the second pool is.The resort itself is ok but the Clumba Mar makes up for that. For something different try playing bingo at Samis Bar across the road Its not bingo as you know it. We are returning again this year with some friends the hotel has changed to an all inclusive lets hope they keep up the good standards.
childrens club
This holiday was brillant, the staff were really friendly, the rooms were cleaned every day, and the food was really nice, the entertainment was excellant. The kids club was fantastic. Dave and Hayley were really good with the children, there was another young girl helping Dave and Hayley who didn,t join in as much or interact with the children at all but apart from her everything was great.
Good Value
Have just returned from a last-minute break to the Clumbar Mar C'an Pickafort which we found to be overall a very good value trip. We departed from our local airport Bournemouth International which is always handy as it saves an enormous amount of time and inconveniece particularly for a short break. Checking in and departure went fine and despite 3 flights all due to depart within minutes of each other (a truly big thing for our local airport) once the chaos was sorted we took off for our short flight into Palma. We had booked a late deal with Skytours (Thomson) and as has happened with them in the past upon landing at Palma it is a hard search to find any Thomson representative upon landing to find out where you should go next for your onward journey. Eventually we found a Thomson rep and they arranged for us and another couple to be taken by taxi to our chosen hotel as it was only the 4 of us going there. This sounded pretty good and we soon forgot about the time we had spent searching for someone, however what we did not know was that our taxi driver obviously had about as much of a clue as we did on how to get there ! So 2 hours later we finally arrived in the early hours of the morning. Checking-in was easy, the reception staff throughout our stay were most proficient and welcoming. The Hotel is very clean and tidy, the rooms adequately furnished with plenty of hanging/storage space. The bathroom again is well laid out with a powerful shower, even if it did sometimes change its' directional angle and fire water at the far wall ! The room also has its' own small safe for keeping valuables in. The only complaints that we had was that the beds were unbelievably squeaky and everytime you moved it was deafening , and this along with the paper-thin walls the noise at night from the beds and adjoining rooms made it a little difficult to get to sleep. The Dining room is again very clean and well managed by a very helpful team, food is buffet style, but with a reasonable choice available and a good bar service (house wine 7 euros/bottle). Most evenings there was some entertainment in the lounge area be it a tribute singer, a dance show or bingo and quizzes. The Clumbar Mar has a nice outside pool , but we didn't use it as the water was so cold, probably due to the fact that at this time of the year most of the area is shaded for much of the day. C'an Pickafort has a good beach only a few minutes walk from the hotel and is lined by an extensive array of bars, restaurants, supermarkets and shops. You are never very far from everything that you could possibly want for a weeks relaxation, it also has a very good market every friday which is situated at the marina end of the resort. We also did a couple of excursions during our week. The first was to Soller, which is a beautiful spot on the west of the Island we approached it with a scenic trip through the mountains and returned via the "Orange Blossom" railroad to Palma . Overall a good trip although we found the train journey a little dissappointing as the views were few and far apart as the track winds its way through the mountains mostly under the cover of dense folliage or long tunnels. The second of our trips took us to the "Pirates Uncut Friday Show" in magaluf, this apart from Thomson's inability to organise the required transportation properly was a truly great fun event. The uncut show is obviously aimed at an adult audience due to its' coarse language unsuitable for kids or the french. It really is an excellent show with some amazing stunts which along with the fast paced humour leaves wanting for more, the same can be said of the food offering but that's another story. Overall we enjoyed our autumn break and will probably be back for more next year as it is very good value for money.
