my only downfall of the place was the high chairs....they need better straps some didnt even have any. otherwise a very good holiday for two weeks!!!!

Submitted By: mumto3sgThe rooms are small but lets face it you only sleep and wash in there! the bathrooms are very clean the only thing I would say is the rooms arent swept everyday in fact the whole week we were there they werent. You dont get clean towels everyday.
we went half board and we were disgusted how the dinner service was we were treated like nothing compared to the all inclusive as at dinner there was a drinks machine we were never told that we couldnt help are self and pay afterwards but we has the waiter who we called "Gestapo" as he came right over to say not saying a word to be polite just put a bill in the table and said you dont help yourself we get drinks for you!! which were in cheap plastic cups which I could just about live with if I was on all inclusive because you could have as much as poss, but we had to pay 1.90 for a small plastic cup!! what they need is a bar in the dinner hall so you got a fair size glass drink (went half board to a hotel in Costa del sol last sept and that is what you do there use the bar) we were disgusted with that so out of principle we didnt drink!!
As for the pools well if you want a sun bed you have to fight for it and queue at the gates from 9:00am may god I dont go on holiday to fight for a sun bed, so spent most days down the beautiful beach the sea is so lovely warm gets a bit choppy in the afternoon. One day we thought we would go around the pool so we went down there and I counted 35 bed that had towels on them when it states on the sign DONT RESERVE SUNBEDS mum spoke to the guy in Spanish again why is it like that he said thats what they do when your not allowed he said to go speak to the reception we we did she said yep take the towels of and put them on the floor and if there is a problem tell them to come on see me so we did what she said there were a group of 9 bed with towels on them we waited 2 half hours for them to come so we gave up and mum took the towel of one of them only one not 3! they didnt like it at all well tuff luck. We used have dinner and go for a walk around Can Picafort which may I say is lovely but like to add that can Picafort is mainly aimed at German so is the hotel. But make a visit to the guy doing spray painted down by the beach front they are awesome. I would stress that if you dont mind having a youth club meet you as soon as you get back to the hotel in the evening then your ok! my god there used to be about 20-30 teenagers hanging around outside every evening which we didnt think was a good look for the hotel. the entertainment we never saw but when we would come home in the evening we heard it and it was terrible really embarrassing. we had kids running up and down the corridors late at night and playing with lifts I guess the parents dont care what they are doing as long as they are out their hair.
All in all I properly wouldnt recommend this hotel but would recommend Can Picafort as a resort we are booking again for next year but going to the better hotel the First Choice Holiday Village which is just up the road which we had a walk around and it is beautiful much suited us!! please listen to the reviews as I reads them before I came away as didnt believe them I said I would make my own mind up but they were all spot on.
Advice: that the beach is beautiful and that Can Picafort lovely to walk around in the evening.

Submitted By: cddarlingSo, if you book your holiday through lowcostbeds, be warned that even if you reiterate 3 times the amounts to be charged, they may charge more and then just lie about what was agreed afterwards as the phone call may not be retrievable to prove your case......
Now, back to the ClumbaMar.
Great spacious room with pool + distant sea view - 2 single beds + bunks for the kids. Air conditioning was great and most welcome. Rooms are basic with 80s style pine furniture but kept immaculately clean, as is the whole hotel! The safety bar on our upper bunk bed fell off on our first day but after a visit to reception, this was replaced (properly so it was safe) within an hour! There wasn't much wardrobe space but the posts on the bunkbeds came in handy for hanging things from.
The hotel walkways are carpeted so noise is limited when you're in bed and the hotel has a very strict 'no noise after midnight' rule which is always upheld by the staff (the bar and outside lights are simply turned off so you have no choice but to vacate!). This was great for us as we have 2 young children and although we enjoyed the entertainment in the evening, midnight was more than late enough for our kids so we simply took them to bed and sat on our balcony if we wanted to continue our evening.
Evening entertainment was a bit boring on some evenings but good on others - as long as you're not bothered about EVERYTHING finishing at midnight, you'll have a good time. Importantly to us, the entertainment areas were civilised but still a great laugh - i.e everyone had a great time and had plenty to drink because there was never any queing needed at the bar. The weekly raffle was a good idea as it gives the bar staff their tips - so buy a ticket/row of tickets if you go. The only criticism I have of the bar is that the staff didn't know how to make any cocktails and these were not generally available at any time. We got around this though by scrounging a cocktail list from a beachfront bar, taking it to the hotel and showing the waiters how to make everything......
The kids club was massive, air conditioned and great. It's downstairs, off the main reception and by the looks of it, the whole area used to be a nightclub hense the vast space! There were no 'shift' times for the childrent to attend (unlike when we've travelled with Thomson) so our children could attend when ever they liked.
The main pools were great by the hotel but the other cloverleaf shaped pool acrross the road was stunning (this is next to the snack bar which was also lovely as ALL snacks were cooked to order and the bar itself plus seating areas were constantly immaculate! The newer pools (across the road) don't have vast sunbathing areas which is lovely as you don't get row after row of beds which block the view of the pool. At worst, we had two rows of beds but even then, this was only where the space allowed by the bar/seating areas or on the two sun terraces.
We've been to All Inclusive hotels for over ten years now (usually twice a year) and although the food selection at this hotel wasn't as varied as at other hotels we've been to, this is probably becuase the hotel itself is smaller by comparison. The smaller size is something we liked though as it made the hotel more friendly and less like a Butlins holiday park!
The breakfasts were great (eggs cooked to perfection - no 'snotty/uncooked' yolks!!). Lunch could be taken at the snack bar, smaller restaurant by the main pool or the main restaurant and dinner was just in the main restaurant. We had parma ham and melon one evening, prawns, paella another and nobody in our party struggled to find food they liked. Kids even had various flavour slush puppies at the bar - which actually were great for making cocktails for the adults!!
If you want a clean hotel, friendly hotel then I'd recommend this for you. It's ideal for families with young children due to the strict 'noise' rule. Also, we were able to get sunbeds all day (although we were told that in 2007, guests were queing at stupid o'clock for beds so it's obviously dependant on how 'anal' people are with regards to reserving beds - you know how it works - once one does it, they all do it......)
I nearly forgot, the location is excellent - just a 200yd walk to the beautiful C'an Picafort beach (similar to Alcudia but just smaller). The whole resort has a strict 'no yobbish' behaviour rule that is upheld in the evenings (loads of police about in the tourist areas - but never any trouble). I don't think we saw one pair of union jack shorts during our whole 2 week trip!!! The main nighclubs are all underground so there is no noise in the resort at all and the streets are very pretty with stalls and pedestrianised areas. The beach front bars are lovely and always full.
Overall, a great holiday and we're looking to book again for 2008!

Advice: Nice resort for a quiet holiday, but not much variety
Activities: Trotters
Good for: Beach
