Awful memories of this hotel, two of...

Apr 2008, Mr R Monteith

Awful memories of this hotel, two of the worst days ever experienced on a holiday. The week-long holiday was paid for but the hotel gave our room away to somebody else after flight delays meant we arrived late (less than 12-hours). The reception staff were very unhelpful and left us sitting in the lobby with our luggage for hours until the manager returned. One member of staff was British and was a bit more understanding, although described her Spanish collegues as "lacking in brain cells". The manager was very arrogant and wouldn't contact Global Late Deals to sort things out. I had to call them using my own mobile phone and pass the call to the manager who spoke (or rather shouted at them) in private - I wasn't allowed to accompany my own phone in to his office. We were eventually given a small room for one-night but were told we had to leave early the next day. We ended up sorting out our own accomodation elsewhere and had a great time for the rest of the week, fortunately we managed to get a refund from the booking agent.

My friend and I booked into this...

Jan 2008, Miss C Hogan

My friend and I booked into this hotel the same day as we arrived so we didn’t know what to expect.
We were very disappointed to say the least when we arrived as the hotel was extremely dated. The staff were very rude and unhelpful and didn’t manage a smile for the whole week!
The room was very clean and comfortable however and that is the only reason for my generous three star rating.
The food was absolutely vile it was always freezing cold even when it had just being put out. No seriously, the food was disgusting!
The evening entertainment was a joke the very young girls that hosted the entertainment were very unprofessional and always hungover! Except for those girls we were probably the youngest people in the hotel (were both 19) as the rest of the guests were pensioners.
I would not recommend this hotel to any one especially not all inclusive. Can Picafort itself was ok but not very much to do The Clumba Mar was only a 2 minute walk to shops, restaurants and the beach.
I would recommend the holiday village viva holiday village just up the road as this was absolutely fantastic! The Clumba Mar did send my friend and I a Christmas card so that was a nice gesture just a shame about the hotel! Hope this review helps. Happy holidays!

Dec 2007, Mrs A Mallett

Went on holiday with my hubby, mam and 10 month baby and was so pleased it was a nice hotel! Everything was within walking distance and nice and flat and I really enjoyed the 7am walks along the beach with my baby since he was wide awake then.
I felt very safe when out and about as well and my mam said the same. Overall the hotel was spot on and had everything we all required and I was pretty impressed with the food too since I only used to go self catering for the past 1o year.
Would definitely recommend and plan to go back in 2008 as you know what your getting and its spot on for the little one!

Nov 2007, Mrs Linda Moffat

Had a wonderful holiday here, only a 9 for rating as you couldn’t swing a cat in our room, and you had to step sideways into the bathroom as the loo was right in front of the door, but that is the only complaint.
The food was really nice, a varied choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, always managed to find some thing I liked. Drinks in the bar were good, a very generous amount of spirits, so much you had to have a glass of coke or lemonade on its own to dilute it a bit more, but whose complaining!
The pool was lovely if you could get a bed to lie on, we managed one morning to get a couple of beds, but the rest of the time it was just by chance that we were close by when they were vacated. The same problem across the road at the Caracus bar, but it was also a lovely pool.
Would love to go back to this hotel as it was so central to everything, which is often not the case with all inclusive deals. Went on a couple of trips with a company called easy trip I think. Very reasonable prices much cheaper than what the reps in the hotel wanted. Had lovely weather apart from the last day very windy and cloudy all day, but we just stayed in the hotel and had lots of very strong drinks! I read somewhere that the hotel is being refurbished for next summer, it would be nice to go back to see what’s been done to improve it, We had problems with noise a couple of nights but that was soon sorted out by the manager. Heres to another visit, hopefully not too long to wait.

Nov 2007, Mr B B

My wife and I spent a week in this hotel. The hotel itself is an old 1969 building - the rooms are clean, the air con works well and if you are in the 5th floor it can be also kind of quiet. The food is for approbate for the standard of hotel, in the morning there is a full range of English and Continental Breakfast. They even have sweet Breakfast such as Cakes, Marmalades what makes a proper Continental Breakfast!!!!
Lunch offers a range of Salads, Vegetables, Meats and (for the British) fried food. Dinner is also acceptable - choices of Meat, Veg. Desserts.
One thing has to be mentioned here - the staff in the restaurant is plain rude - they speak loudly in Spanish about the customers and think nobody understands - I did and they were basically slagging the customers off all the time!!! VERY RUDE!!!
Same goes for the Room Maids - very abrupt and rude.
The facilities are accordingly - the pools are very clean, plenty of sun loungers and the British people do the so called "German thing" - blocking sun loungers with towels - just throw them off!! There were just British people in the hotel.
Caracas Bar and Pool needs to be recommended - very nice bar staff, good snacks and a really nice pool.
Can Picafort is like the whole cost of the Island - overbuilt - the cost of Majorca is basically a Concrete Slap - horrible!!! We drove all over the Island and I have to say that the Island itself is very beautiful, but has been raped by corporate - high-rise buildings everywhere - Sardinia and Corsica for example are much nicer Islands!!!
What is also very annoying is that fact that the Island is a pensioner home - everywhere you go you fall over pensioners - nothing against pensioners, but I felt that there were just moody Pensioners everywhere.
Overall - I think if you are looking for a holiday where you have loads of noise (everything is open at least to 3-4 in the morning), loads of Bars, Pubs and Restaurants, English and German Language everywhere (we hardly spoke to Spanish people as there aren't any - if you order in Spanish, they will speak back to you in English or German) and you are not bothered about nice beaches, than Majorca is the Island to go. For the Rest of you - stay away - you will be very disappointed.

Oct 2007, Miss sun

Myself and fiancée stayed at the Clumba Mar for 1 week from 28/07/07. We don't usually go away in the main shut down week but had to this year. However we can say that we really enjoyed our stay at the Clumba Mar, we arrived the Saturday afternoon and were shown straight to our room.
The room was basic but very clean, there are no tvs in rooms but hey your on holiday. The rooms were cleaned every day during our stay. We spent most of our holiday at the pool across the road the Caracus bar, there are plenty of sunbeds here, and a big pool, you can also use your all inclusive card at the bar for drinks and snacks.
The entertainment in the hotel was ok but nothing special, they have kids disco first then bingo, horse racing, karaoke etc. However we often went out after the bingo, and can highly recommend the bar across the road Wosits. Chris and Samir are great you must play bingo there, its so funny.
All in all we had great hol and will definitely return, however its suppose to be being refurbished for summer 08, so going to wait for reviews first before we book anything.
But if your going soon have great time.
Miss sun

The Clumba Mar is a small and...

Oct 2007, Mrs G Dunn

The Clumba Mar is a small and friendly hotel near to the resort centre of can Picafort. This was the first year that the hotel had gone all inclusive. The price was affordable.
The entertainment was good, something for everyone from tots disco to entertainment shows for the adults later when the children were worn out.
The Kids club left a lot to be desired, while the staff were very good with the children, the equipment was very little and not very clean. It also felt as though the children were going into the dungeons for the kids club as it was under the hotel with no windows for natural light.

Food and drink was good although nothing fancy and could get a bit repetitive.
Rooms were clean but basic with no TV.
However the hotel is situated well and there is a choice of two pools, one at the hotel and one across the road at the hotel run snack bar cafe. Not far from a beautiful beach with coastal walks. Plenty of activities for the family in Mallorca.

Sep 2007, Miss N Frew

Very Clean hotel, staff always working hard to keep the hotel immaculate. Pool and bar area at Caracus Cafe across the road also kept very clean and this is where you can get a lot of your all inclusive drinks and snacks. Be warned though a lot of guests queue from 8am to bag the sunbeds at Caracus but the gates do not open until 9am.
No complaints about the food although a few other choices at dinner time wouldn't go a miss. Entertainment ok the in house entertainments team could try a bit harder they never seem hard pushed. Watch out for Clumba Cat. We really enjoyed the beatles act really funny! Also the tribute to Robbie Williams seems to turn up to everything, and participates in everything. The Parrot show was good too. Love how the wee women says applause!!
All in all a great holiday and would definitely return.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the...

Sep 2007, Miss H Fuller

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Clumba Mar from the end of July for 2 weeks.
We arrived in the middle of the night and we quite worried as every town we had been through seemed lifeless! The manager greeted us and was very friendly and offered us a drink and something to eat - we then worked out that the food being offered was the next day’s breakfast buffet! Hmm nice and fresh then.
Anyway we got to our room and it was very clean but not very big. There were two single beds pushed together, a wardrobe, desk and chair and a balcony. The bathroom was clean and a reasonable size. My boyfriend was not at all impressed as we were situated right near the lift and so could hear the 'ding' every time someone used the lift!
The pool at the hotel was quite small and very deep so be careful if you are not a good swimmer. You have to go across the road to the other pool if you want nibbles during the day, and to be honest that pool is a lot bigger and nicer.
The food is very repetitive and not very tasty. The nibbles available in the cafe bar across the road were fine - chips, sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza etc. The alcohol available was brilliant. I'm quite fussy about my wine but the wine at the hotel was very drinkable, and they do different shots and cocktails.
The entertainment was ok, for kids it was brill, but for a couple in their mid twenties it could have been better.
The beach was 2 mins away from the hotel. I would definitely recommend going to the Jamaican bar for cocktails and there is another bar but I can't remember the name of it, it’s on the beach front and has live entertainment every night. I would definitely recommend stopping at the hotel when the Beatles tribute band play, they are fabulous.
Overall I would give the holiday a 5/10. Wouldn't go there again as it wasn't very lively.
The staff were very friendly but they wasn't a lot to do in the day and the food was a bit drab.
