The hotel itself was well situated in the resort of Alcudia, it was always kept clean, especially the communal areas, which were comfortable, and the staff were helpful.Unfortunately the hotel was let down where the catering and entertainment were concerned. The food choices were unimaginative and were nearly always cold.If the catering was ' sorted out ' and more thaught was given to the entertainment this would be an excellent hotel to stay at.

Hotel clean, however meals lacked imagination. 2 days out of 7 there were potatoes and on the others there were only chips or wedges, hardly the thing to go with roast lamb or chicken. All vegetables were either frozen or tinned. Puddings every day consisted of jelly, tinned fruit and a sort of angel delight, melon and either some sort of tart or on one occasion a gateau which ran out very quickly. There was no daytime entertainment as advertised and evening entertainment was only for 3 nights, the first being a man with parrots - fine for the children of which there were but a handful but not for the majority of guests which were adults. We understood from the brochure that the hotel was open until the end of October but by the 21st the pool snack bar had run out of food and we were advised to go out of the hotel and eat elsewhere. We then were told that the hotel in fact was closing a week earlier and by the time we left on the 23rd lots of things were being removed and we were left to feel that they couldn't wait to get rid of us. We would certainly not return to this hotel and would not recommend anyone to go there.

After a lovely holiday in 2009 we returned with family in Aug 2010... The kids entertainment had been cancelled to save money so they could put the shows on in the evenings. Towards the end of the holiday we found mould growths on the white plinth under the mirror which had stained my daughters clothes with a brown dusty stain, when we reported this to the front desk the manageress and cleaner visited the room and offered to clean the clothes, they also said they would compensate us if it did not work. After failing to get rid of the mould they then had the cheek to deny any conversation about compensation and insisted that it was my daughters fault... I can say without reservation that because of their attitude and lies we will not be using any Astoria Hotels in the future.....

We have just returned from a great holiday in Alcudia. The astoria was an excellent choice - tne staff were first class the food great and the roomd excellent. My only complaint was that the 5 euros for the crazy golf was crazy. Bill Gray

Just back from a week at the Astoria Playa and could not find fault with it at all. It was really clean, all the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was first class with plenty of choice and the room was excellent. The air conditioning made the room comfortable and it was quiet at night. It is the best hotel I have stayed in in Spain and the best value for money.

I stayed in Astoria Playa in July 2009, and to be honest it was everything we needed but I wouldn’t go back, it is more of a hotel aimed at young families, Although it is in a great location right next to the Bellevue strip where there is loads of shops and restaurants, The entertainment in the hotel was dreadful unless you like a kids disco and being pulled up to the stage by a clown and bingo, every night. The lifts were really small and one broke down whilst we were there so there was always a que for the lift and it took ages. The air con was annoying because it only worked when you have the key in the wall so it was hot overnight and during the day when you weren’t in the room to have it on. I also thought it was a bit strange as they took our passports of us when we arrived and we couldn’t have them back until the next morning I did think that was a bit alarming as I have never come across that before. The pool area was very nice but if you wanted a sun lounger you would have to go and save one before breakfast although this didn’t bother us as we spent most of the time at the beach which was a very convenient 3 minute walk away. But if you were to spend a day at the pool the bar does food which is very good and they even bring it over to your sun lounger for you which was very nice. I read in other reviews that the beach was across a main road but found people were exaggerating when we arrived as there are zebra crossings and it wasn’t that busy. The beach is very clean as was the hotel, we didn’t get to meet our table friends once during our week’s stay which we were pleased about but we did see their crumbs one morning so they had obviously been down there. The food wasn’t great but there was always something decent, we mostly filled up on the desserts. And you have to pay to take food out of the restaurant which we found out on the last day then realised that is why the waitress gave us a funny look when my friend took a piece of fruit out. And if you wanted to go out for lunch there was a very nice small restaurant right opposite the hotel which we went to twice during our stay. Overall the hotel is very nice and clean in a great location and the staff were very friendly although I would only recommend this hotel for young families.

stayed for 2 weeks had a great holiday, hotel lovely and clean, bar staff very friendly, waiters in the dining area really pleasent, had too sit with another couple but they were really nice people lillian, dave and george hello!!! even went for a drink with them, sad to see them go, pool area lovely, except for the mad rush in the morning for the beds!!! that was really funny, my partner and daughter went to the pool i never, we did prefer the beach it was lovely!!! the food was really nice, plenty of choice as was the breakfast, near the lively town but not noisey at all, we have been back a week and we are going to book again for 3 weeks next year in a couple of days!!! would recommend this hotel to anyone cant wait to go back!!!

I stayed at Astoria Playa Hotel for 5 nights with my boyfriend and two of our friends. We had seperate rooms on the 1st floor. First impressions of the hotel were good, the rooms were clean, however, on the first night I discovered we were sharing our room with ANTS. I complained at reception and asked for a different room but the man was not helpful at all and insisted that he would report the problem. I then asked the maid myself if she could do anything, she then cleaned the room and put ant killer down, she was very hepful. After this I did not come across anymore ants.
The rooms had aircon and a TV which was nice. The maid came in every day if you wanted her to. The people staying at the hotel were mainly families or older people.
We had breakfast at the hotel which was really good, lots of choice (even cakes and chocolate sauce). We didnt use the pool as it was often busy,in my opinion it was too small for the size of the hotel. This was not a problem as the beach is 2mins away and is fantastic.
We didnt spend anytime at the hotel on the nights, we went to the harbour which is a 20min walk along the beach or 5euro in a taxi. Overall it is a nice hotel to stay in.
