More Traveller Reviews of Oasis Hotel
Fantatsic! Will definitely go back.
from SE0903
Went on a girls trip for 4 nights in August: As this is a 3 star property we were prepared for a basic hotel, however I join other 'reviewers' in their praise. The best feature of the Hotel Oasis is its pool area - it's lovely, spacious and has nice sun loungers and very good bar staff. The Hotel staff were really helpful and very pleasant. Although the actual apartment was what you'd expect for a 3 star it had an excellent shower, plenty of room and a very spacious balcony. The Hotel is a 40 min walk from Alghero, but it is worth the compromise as the beach near the Oasis is beautiful and so much nicer than the ones nearer the town. The buses in & out of Alghero are regular and stop outside the Hotel and a taxi costs 10 Euros (one way). This is definitely a fantastic place to bring children as there is an additional, smaller and shallower children's pool at the Oasis and the beach is perfect for the kids too. I would highly recommend the Oasis and would choose this hotel if I returned to Alghero. Alghero town is beautiful and also comes highly recommended. PS. If you choose this hotel I would recommend booking with 'Just Sardinia' as they proved excellent & their Rep ('Franco') at the Hotel is outstanding.
Great Value
from Belerophon
We had a week at the Oasis which we found to be fantastic value for money. The staff were polite and very helpful, the room was cleaned every day and fresh towels laid out. There was no disturbances at night but the birds outside our room get up quite early! We hired bikes at the hotel for the whole week and so didn't have to use the buses and explored some lovely secluded beaches within a few miles of the hotel and also the old town and "Neptune's grotto" which is a bit of a hike. The food at the Oasis was excellent, breakfast was just about anything that you would want from "full English" to "croissant & coffee", dinner again provided a fantastic choice with themed menus some nights ie. "specialities from local villages".Sardinia is a beautiful island but our holiday was not long enough!
Great holiday

Really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the apartment complex next to the hotel and were pleasantly surprised, probably because so many reviews talk about basic accomodation. Didn't find it basic at all, except the shower cubicle has definitely seen better days (although saying that water pressure and temperature were good). Had a top floor apartment overlooking pine trees and the swimming pool with 2 very large balconies . 2 swimming pools, both very nice, usually quite easy to get sunbeds or deckchairs, although it became difficult when the hotel manager decided to close one of the pools for 3 days because it rained a bit. That said, that was probably about our only gripe with the whole holiday. Opted to pay for breakfast in the hotel every morning (6 euros per adult and 4 euros per child). Pretty standard continental / egg and bacon hotel fayre, could have done with a better fruit option. Beach just across road and a short walk through a pine forest. Very nice, very Italian. It was definitely not a Sardinian Ibiza (as previously described) because all the teenagers on the beach were Italian. There was hardly a Brit in sight! Hotel a fair way outside town and because we have 2 small kids we caught a bus in most days. Found the buses cheap , reasonably frequent and a pleasant way of travelling in. Alghero itself typically Italian, winding cobbled streets, pavement restaurants and street markets. A great atmosphere, especially at night. Eating out was a pleasure and although we ate in town a few times our favourite restaurant was only a 15 min walk from the hotel towards town. It was called Les Arenes - great food, reasonable prices and a metre of pizza, if you could handle it. Booked through Just Sardinia because it only cost a few pounds more than booking independently and included a free transfer. Special mention for Franco the rep, lots of very good tips on where to go, where to eat and best wine to drink. Unlike your Thomson reps he never tried to sell us one trip or car hire. All in all a very good family holiday.
perfect

Hotel oasis is perfect if you are just looking for something relaxing with plenty of sun. Its a very family orientated place but there were just two of us. The rooms are quite sparsly decorated but very clean and are cleaned daily. Its a good 40 minute walk to Alghero but its a nice coastal walk so we never bothered with buses but you can get them not far from the hotel and are quite frequent. The beach is packed but that is to be expected in August but the sea is completely clear and turquoise. We would definitely stay there again.
Stay somewhere else!!

We chose this hotel from the 'Holiday options' brochure mainly because it was close to the airport, had ok reviews and a slide into the pool for the kids and childrens entertainment, which we thought would be great!!!.... We arrive! Ok this is a 3 star hotel which is fine, we have stayed in plenty of 3 star before but I would give it a 1 to 2. The room was very dull, like a prison, it was a family room which consisited of two single rock hard beds and pillows, pushed together and a steel bunk, which was so noisy we had to put the top one on the floor each night!! The shower was either boiling or cold, the interior was gross too. We were overlooking the car park so got noise from traffic and the fountain generators! The slide had gone!! I asked where is the slide in the brochure and was told 'it is an old picture'. As for entertainment !! One dreary dark bar with an equally dreary singer on a good night, more life in a cemetary!! The beach is opposite, over a busy, noisy road and through a pine forest. it appeared to us to be the Sardinian Ibiza!! Packed with teenagers, there wasn't a spot to squeeze into. As for restaurants you have one or two 10 minutes walk away, but they are totally naff, the beach ones look ok if you want to trek through a forest in the dark and your heels!! We paid £8 for a grey breaded chicken netto special!! Described as a chicken cutlet!!! As for the positives... all the staff were nice and friendly, the hotel is very clean and the food was nice, we were B & B. The pool is also nice surrounded by pine trees and they have mini golf, table tennis and pool which the kids liked. Also happy hour with nice free tapas, which was good. Alghero town was very pretty but a 10 min walk to the bus stop and then a 10 min bus journey, also the waiting for the bus with two kids and the joys when you wait for 30 minutes and they drive past you and wave!! The sea is lovely and clear, we walked to the next town calles Fertilla, which was really quiet with a nice beach. If you do go I would say try a different hotel and resort. Sorry!!
great location

We booked this hotel with Thomson having read some good and some bad reviews - we liked it. It was on the edge of alghero, so relatively quiet and only a short walk through some pine trees to the nice sandy beach. Yes the beach was used by locals, but we didn't find this a problem. There were loads more, less crowded, beaches to visit if you had a car or went on the (hourly) local bus. We thought the food was very good - we had our own table for the week, so no fighting for your own space. Some people would have liked more choice, especially of afters, but we thought it was actually better not to be overwhelmed with stuff to eat! We still put on weight! My husband is vegetarian, and the chefs quickly made him something suitable if there was nothing he fancied on offer. Our room overlooked the car park and the only noise we heard at night was dogs barking and birds. We had a TV and there was always hot water available. We took a travel kettle and made our own drinks. Didn't bother with air con as it is usually noisy and there was plenty of air from the patio doors!. Would have been nice to have had a fridge. Very reasonable mini-market on site where you could buy drinks and stuff to make a snack. Some of our fellow holiday makers ran up a large bill on the hotel's credit card - every time you spent something you got a paper receipt so it was easy to keep track of what you spent. On the downside was the beds - a bit too firm for our taste. There were 2 big pools - one for the apartments and one for the hotel. The hotel pool could be rather full of scandinavian kids but that was obviously due to the time we were visiting. We got sunloungers nearly all of the time by dint of using the strategy of putting our towels on them when we went for breakfast - but they could do with a few more. The scenery was beautiful and we will be going back to Sardinia to explore some more. The weather was hot and sunny, though it was quite windy for half of our stay.
Absolutely great!

We were looking for a hotel with good facilities close to Alghero and not too pricey. What we actually got was better than we could have imagined. The location was good - a bit of a walk (40 mins) outside the centre of Alghero but buses were pretty regular and very cheap. The rooms are pretty bog standard in decor but they were cleaned everyday, beds and towels changed so you can't ask for much more. The pools and bar area are lovely, clean and tidy with plenty of things to keep you occupied if you get bored of sunbathing - mini golf, table tennis, pool etc. The food was by far the best bit about the hotel. We were half board and arrived late at night to find they had left us a cold buffet meal for when we arrived which was a welcome surprise. Everynight the menu was different, usually 5 courses and included steak, swordfish, veal and sardinian sausages. The beach which has white sand and clear blue sea is 2 mins walk through some pine woods. You can rent 2 sunbeds and an umbrella for 10 euros per day or just sit on your towel if you don't want to pay. We hired bikes outside the hotel for 12 euros for the day and had a brilliant time cycling along the coast which is very unspoilt and beautiful. Something you wouldn't see if you hired a car. Alghero itself is full of history and very interesting. You can also go on trips from the harbour. Overall we absolutely loved this hotel and Alghero. It was great value for money and we'd definitely go back.
Suprisingly Good
from lil_traveller66
Having looked at several other hotels in the Alghero area this was the best in terms of price and quality of accommodation that i could find - that was also pretty centrally located. We were expecting a fairly basic hotel but the Oasis was much better than expected - Lovely big pool with plenty of loungers and umbrella's and a big bar area which is open at night as well. The rooms are large, and the bathrooms are separated from them. We were B&B and thought the breakfast selection was more than adequate, the only complaint was there was no toast!! There is a pizza restaurant on site which you can either eat in or get take away's from and the pizza's are fantastic - i had one every lunch time !! Just over the road from the hotel there is a beautiful white sand beach - and it's not all covered with sunloungers although you can hire them (approx 10 euro/day). to get into alghero old town you can walk straight along the main road or catch the bus. Tickets for the bus are bought at the Tabacchi (newsagent) which is about 5 mins walk from the hotel, and cost about 1 euro each way. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel - and although all the staff speak fairly good english they do appreciate it when people make the effort to speak even a few words of italian. How hard is it to say ciao!!
Good for families

Having seen some other reviews after booking, I was slightly worried that the hotel would not meet our needs. However, i needn't have worried. The accommodation in the residence part of the hotel was coomfortable and spacious but not luxurious and the rooms in the hotel part were also more than adequate. Both swimming pools were excellent as were the two paddling pools. Most of the staff were very friendly contrary to some previous reviews. Fausto the bar man was especially good with the children. The head waiter/maitre d' though was somewhat abrupt and aloof. We booked through Just Sardinia and travelled independently with Ryanair. Francesco from Just Sardinia was just superb - taxi transfers, getting us a queue jump in the check in at the airport on the way home, telling us all the information we needed to make the best of our stay and no selling of trips! The beach was accessed through the woods opposite the hotel and was a real gem as was the La Chonciglia restaurant on the beach. Overall i would recccommend Alghero and the hotel to any family with small children, just don't expect the height of luxury.
Just warming up.

Just come back from a week in Sardinia where we had 3 nights at this hotel. No real faults except no glasses in room. The reception staff and maitre'de were very good and the breakfast spread was excellent catering for all nationalities. It is a large hotel and if you are travelling privately/quietly then it is best to give it a miss as the holiday season is starting and it gets very busy/noisy with a lot of package holidaymakers.

We booked for this half term week and were surprised to get the accommodation for £480 for a 2 bedroom apartment. We found the apartment spacious and clean. The hotel facilities were good and the staff helpful and friendly. There is a super beach opposite through the pine... more
