Location of hotel ideal in terms of views and accessibility to facilities ie beach, local tavernas ( though these were limited; please try White Spot at sea level if visiting ). Room service was very good and overall the hotel itself ok. Its Achilles heel was its catering and the management of this facility. Standard of food was not up to expectation. The staff struggled to keep stocks at level required by the diners and general table management ie prepared for new diners and clearing away of used crockery, was very poor. Not the staff's fault who struggled to meet the demand. The Management need to address this problem as soon as possible.

This Hotel is on the end of a runway, but the plane noise did not wake me up too many times.
The rooms) were cleaned everyday and fresh towels etc. The actual rooms did need updating, the fan in the Bathroom did not work. Room 425.
The food was of a average quality, but the hot food, simply was not hot or anything like hot. On Wednesday 24th sept (Barbique night) I waited for the girl to change the container for a fresh batch of chips, when she did I swooped in for a plateful, only to find they were stone cold. I informed the manager, who replied would you like me to microwave your food for you, which I accepted.
Other days because they were under staffed, I actually set my own table, as did other guests.
If you want to use the internet it will cost you 8 euro for a card which lasts 1 hour, for someone like me who only wanted to use it for 10 minutes, this was expensive.
Not many Brits at this Hotel, but alot of queue jumping sunbed grabbing Germans.
Five years ago I stayed at a hotel called the Chandris in Dassia about 12 miles further northeast of this location which was a really good hotel and a better location.
My advice is if you are British and want a relativly quiet holiday with decent food and nice location, (no Yobs ) Go to the chandris in Dassia.
I could not reccommend the Corfu Holiday Palace to anyone.

the hotel practically sits on the runway for corfu airport which is great if you are an avid plane spotter...
upon arrival at the hotel we were given our key and pointed in the right direction although we were offered no help with our bags and faced steep steps up to our bungalow appartment... the appartment was clean but very dark and no way of 5* quality....
the pool was lage and well presented the private beach however was small and dirty although it has a great veiw of mouse island....
the staff were not very helpful or friendly and the guests were 90% germans...
the food was disgusting the same badly cooked barely warm meats served with a different colour sauce every night...
the drink prices were shockinlgy over priced (12 euros for 3 small not freshly squeezed orange juices/ a jack daniels and coke was 8 euros and a small beer 3 and half euros!!!!!!!!! and after 2 nights of the hotel food/drinks we ate at a lovely little bar called THE CAPTAINS for the rest of the week (despite being half board) .... george was friendly welcoming and bent over backwards to accomadate us and is a great cook and host..... a meal for 3 with drinks was cost on average 30 euros and was worth every cent!!!!!!
breakfast at the hotel had a large variety of cold and warm (i wouldnt call it hot) food although dont drink the tea it was awful...
there was only 1 mini market and 3 bars within walking distance of the hotel so i would definately recommend to go see "villi" accross the road to hire a car at a very good price (90euros for 3 days) to go see the rest of the island there are some superb beaches, mountain villages and scenery to go see on the island but be prepared to get lost in corfu town on the way back to the hotel...the one way system is mind blowing.... as is the constant smell off eggy sulphar!!!
if this had been my first visit to greece i may have been put off ever returning however i have been many times before and i know that there are some super places to stay with a much higher level of service than you will ever recieve at this hotel.... DONT BOTHER STAYING HERE go somewhere else!!!!!!

After reading a review of July (read after booking our holiday), I was rather concerned about the comments. I had booked the holiday on a late deal search.
I think we must have stayed at a different hotel to the lady who left the July comments, we expect high standards and that was what we felt we received. Spotless rooms and the staff were without exception wonderful, the meals were very good indeed and there was surely something to please everyone. Yes there is an airport and yes we did have those views.... my advice would be not to book a holiday near an airport if you don't expect some noise! We actually enjoyed the hotel location, the views are stunning from both sides of the hotel and were not in the slightest put off by any noise. In fact we would jump at the chance to visit this hotel again.
Thank you for a brilliant holiday.

Prepare for the worst, if you don't get it thank your lucky stars. Rude staff. Bland warm food, noisy rooms from some sort of generator. Not the hotel for a relaxing holiday or any holiday for that matter... pick another hotel. Manager very rude when we complained about noisy room, it's not the airplane noise, you get used to that, just a constant humming every 10 minutes, sends you mad, honestly. Reception staff - oh my god - they are enough to give young kids nightmares, if you want a constant battle to receive a decent level of service, then this is the hotel for you....!!!

We arrived at the airport checked in with the agent & given 2 transfer vouchers & then shown to a taxi - which took us 5 min drive to our hotel, we arrived at 6.30am - when the driver asked for payment we gave the voucher but they wouldn't accept & was on the phone to the agent for 15mins which after this time was all sorted.
The room was very nice & spacious but (Lake View) are views over airport/runway.
The food in the restaurant was very nice & there was always a variety to choose from, but the snack bar by the pool was very expensive.
The pool was very nice & we could always have a choice of sun beds.
We booked 1 week before departure through a Teletext operator £295pp h/b 1week - which I thought was reasonable - but I would say anymore than that I would personally not pay - due to the fact being so close to the airport.
We were told 24hrs before departure we had to vacate our room at 12noon although flight wasn't til 6.15am the following day. Cost of an extra night of £60. We did have use of the bungalows on the ground floor to freshen up for 1hour -which are within the same grounds - (this was a real eye opener) - there was concrete walls/floors & dark wooden panels, it looked like something from the 60's, & when the planes went over the whole building shook, you could hear the plane noise & the entertainment from the bar very, very clearly- If I had stayed in this accommodation I don't know how long I would have lasted, I felt very enclosed almost like in a prison. (So glad we were in the hotel)
After trying to sleep on the reception sofa's all night - needless to say the taxi didn't arrive to take us to the airport, so we had to pay ourselves.
All in all I would personally not recommend this to anyone.

I would recommend this holiday to anyone, to start the taxi’s were cheap from the airport to hotel, the hotel was very clean and smart, the bathrooms were a bit of a seventies throw back but other than that the accommodation was brilliant, the food was fine, always lots of choice and fresh and the bar staff were friendly, the piano players were really funny to say the least!!
The pool apart from the shock that it was a salt water pool was clean and the surrounding area was kept very clean and tidy...no fighting for sunbeds!
Captain George, the taverna just down the road is a must to visit, he will remember you well and supply you with ouzo and tell you about his trips to Scotland!
All in all, it was a brilliant holiday and we have come home with lots of stories to tell and brilliant tans!
After booking this holiday I found several bad reviews and seriously thought about cancelling. I am so glad I didn’t. We went with the expectation of a bad holiday and were very surprised. I wanted to write this to stop other people being put off, as I can only assume that the people submitting bad reviews are very hard to please!!
Rooms -
These were in bad need of updating but were very spacious and constantly air-conditioned which is a boon on the Corfu climate. Our sheets and towels were changed every day and the room was immaculately clean.
Pool -
Very large pool with fantastic views over the bay. Complimentary towels every day and lovely gardens surrounding it. Plenty of sunbeds and no fighting for them which was a surprise considering the number of guests in the hotel.
Restaurant -
Buffet style meals with everything possible to suit varying tastes. Beautifully cooked and more than enough to satisfy the biggest appetites. I did however notice that some of the guests were incredibly greedy and wasted enormous amounts of food. Delighted to say that we never saw a chip while we were there!! Every evening there was a fish choice, two meat choices and a pasta dish.
Hotel -
This was very nice with plenty of facilities-4 lane bowling alley, casino, shops, gym, indoor pool and lounge areas.
Resort -
Kanoni is a small resort but absolutely beautiful. The airport was VERY near but this was more of a feature than anything else. It certainly did not disturb anybody. The noise only lasted a couple of minutes per flight and even in the busy periods we were hardly aware of it after the initial shock. I agree that there were only a couple of bars and two shops....but who needs them. I really do not know why people are so critical, after all they are on holiday. If they want loud bars burger joints and shops selling ****....go to Blackpool!!!

This is undoubtedly the worst 4 star hotel I have ever had the misfortune to frequent.

We left after two days and paid extra to stay at the other side of the island - two other families only gave it one night. If you want poor food with non-existent service, if you want your room to shake with the sound of airplane engines then BOOK THIS NOW.

Other features include a supposedly indoor heated swimming pool that was so cold even in July as to leave me with mild hypothermia. The grounds were rocky, steep and in a poor state of repair also completely unsuitable for children. On our first night we were told to make our own way to our rooms over a steep and rocky surface, which was poorly lit. My 3-year-old son fell.

The quality of the food was appalling and everything was too much trouble for the waiting staff. We were told by the rep that it was the cheapest 4 star hotel on the island and it’s easy to see why. This is one for airline staff and locals, one to avoid I’m afraid.

If you have recently booked this accommodation I pity you I really do, try and get out of it or take extra cash because take it from me you will be switching hotels.

If you like aircraft you are on a winner as Corfu airport runway is just a short walk away. You can sit on the causeway directly under the flight path and inhale the JP4 emmissions and listen to the roar of the engines as they are almost on the runway.Sorry it's my thing!
The hotel is for the more mature and not for the twenty somethings as it can be a bit quiet in the evenings.
The staff are friendly and will offer you beverages at the eveing meal at a price, beverages at breakfast are free. If you are a coffee drinker dont bother it's not good!
There are no kettles in the rooms and you are not allowed them. The good news is Starbucks is a walk away and cheaper than in the UK and at the hotel.
Bus tickets are available at the hotel shop at 90 Euro's one way which is a cheap
way to travel into Corfu town. Do not be put off by the hustle and bustle of the town just get off and turn right and take the next left and walk and you will arrive at Old Corfu town. You will find a shoppers paradise amongst the narrow streets but choose carefully as prices vary dramaticaly.
Greece is as expensive as the UK and watch out as you can be ripped off at the local Mini Marts and Tavernas not to mention the Taxi's. So use the buses!
