Just OK
As this wasn't our 1st 2nd 3rd or even choice of hotel in Havana (it was the only one available due to our late booking) we were not expecting much. It didn't exceed our expectations and probably just met them. The room we had was on the 2nd floor (back of the hotel unfortunately) with a window high up which needed to be opened if you wanted any light in the room at all. The view was like the noise (not ples to say the least) with a dog barking to order at 7am every morning. High ceilings and marble bathroom (that's as good as it gets... more
Pleasant hotel in Old Havana
This is an old building in Old Havana. We stayed on the 3rd floor. Room was large and clean. There were some issues re a tap that wouldnt turn off. We could hear the next room resident in their bathroom but overall it was a quiet hotel, The lobby is nice and there are some seated areas in the hall ways overlooking the internal atrium. The breakfast was ok by other Cuban standards. The location was good and you could walk to all the attractions in Old Havana. Staff were friendly. we didnt eat in the evening there and by the looks of it... more
Not bad.
Very nice looking hotel. The room was huge and comfortable. It's in a nice part of town but seems to lack a bit of character. Also very expensive and compared to some of the other hotels in this class it didn't seem up to the same standard.
Personel doesn't have a clue
We stayed 2 nights in this hotel after having stayed in 2 other hotels, 1 in Havana and another in Varadero. We booked this hotel since it looked good on the website and it's part of the Habaguanex chain, of which the first hotel we stayed in Havana was part as well. The place is ok, reasonable state of maintenance. We had two minor problems with the room itself, namely that the water turned cold now and then, when taking a shower. However, never for a longer period. Secondly, we had a small leakage in the bathroom, but that stopped by... more
Really enjoyed this nice spot
I just got back and had a pleasant stay. You can choose this hotel with confidence -- definitely not super deluxe, but stately, basic, clean and safe (including lock boxes in the rooms). And the location cannot be beat. I went to other properties in this hotel chain during my stay, and the O'Farrill was on par with the others. A great value is hard to find in Havana, so 65E a night felt like a good deal and I would recommend.
Old and broken down
We booked this hotel for 3 nights unfortunately and prepaid otherwise we would have moved after the first night. Although the courtyard looked stately and the location was close to the sights of Old Havana, the hotel itself left a lot to be desired. For three days we had no hot water. Every day we were told that it would be fixed by the next day...never happened. We did complain to the sales manager but he only shrugged and said somthing about a technical problem. The main elevator was broken for our full stay and noone knew when it... more
Beautiful Old Havana Hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for three days and enjoyed it very much. As mentioned in other posts, the common areas are beautiful and really evoke the atmosphere of Old Havana. The courtyard is lush and palatial, and the huge wooden doors everywhere just gorgeous. Our room was a bit of a step down by comparison, though still nice. One request I would have is brighter lighting in the rooms. The location is excellent - just a few blocks from the plazas in Old Havana and one block from the Malecon. All around the hotel are... more
An Average Experience
Recently stayed for a week at the O'Farrill in Old Havana. Overall a decent hotel with very pleasant common areas. PRO'S: -Free breakfast every day (which I didn't know about until I figured it out by accident) although somewhat mediocre food that kept looking very familiar each day. Great coffee and juice. They'll make you eggs/toast/etc if you ask. -Lobby is dramatic and pleasant, see other reviews -In-room sat TV with some English channels was helpful and a welcome break after struggling to understand Spanish... more
Fascinating haven in centre of old Havana
Would recommend this little haven of tranquility, in the bustling heart of old Havana. We stayed in the twin Junior suite which was on the Mezzanine floor. Huge! It had dark wood beamed ceilings with dark wood panels and transported you back in time to the Spanish Conquistadors! You could almost feel the ghost with his head tucked under his arm.......... Fabulous. The wooden shuttered windows opened out onto the street and you looked straight into the poverty opposite. However, the ceiling length wooden panelled doors opened up... more
Great little colonial hotel
Just a short review on this hotel as there is nothing about it already posted on this site. I stayed here for a couple of nights in September. This hotel is located in the old quarter of Havana very close to the larger better know Hotel Florida. Unfortunately it does not look like much from the outside as the street it is on is pretty run down. However it is a very different story once you step through the big mahogany door with bronze nails which allows entrance to the hotel, where the typical interior patio has a marble staircase that... more
