Louis Grand Hotel Reviews
" Not up to 4 stars "
Submitted By: lyndahThe public areas and reception staff were the only saving grace of this hotel.
The food was just dreadful - practically the same food every lunchtime and evening with very little variety. If you don't like salad and casseroles full of bones you may go hungry. The restaurant staff were pretty morose and scruffy.
The rooms were very basic - you literally get a hairdryer and fridge. Only things provided were a soap dispenser on the wall in the bathroom - no nice little touches like a bar of soap. Only provided with one bath towel each. No tea making in the rooms so take your own.
We gasped at the amount of alcohol being poured for our drinks however it had no effect on us at all and we are not drinkers - we should have been floored by it but weren't.
Very disappointed - we felt that what was provided was being done on the cheap and that's not the experience we paid a lot of money for.
Advice: Go somewhere else

Submitted By: emedThe rooms were fairly basic but adequate.
A good selection of food was on offer at all times. The bar area was pleasant with lots of lounge areas to sit and relax and enjoy cocktails.
The pool area was great and safe for kids. There were pool activities throughout the day including water polo and aerobics. Other sports available were football and beach volley ball and tennis.
It is situated right on the beach front and had a variety of water sports on offer. The doughnuts were great fun! Staff were polite and helpful.
" This hotel is absolutely fabulous!... "
Submitted By: Ms L NarrawayThe entertainment was great as its quite out of the way but it just what you need a nice relaxing resort and area, there’s a bus to take you into the town and we went on a boat trip 1 day which was such a giggle if you need an extra day of tanning whilst away this was a fab way and so much fun!
Corfu is great and this hotel makes it better! Everything was just perfect!

Submitted By: ClarendanThe rooms are basic but clean and functional. The main public areas are very well-kept and have an old-world feel to them.
The food on the all-inclusive basis was plentiful and there was always a lot of choice. We never had to wait for a table even with 6 of us at peak times.
The bar in the evening was never too busy to find a seat and there were a good range of cocktails on offer.
The pool area can get very busy so I would recommend finding a suitable spot early.
The sea can get very rough at times and there are not always life guards on duty.
All in all this hotel lived up to expectations and is ideal as a family, all-inclusive holiday.

Submitted By: Ms J ParsonsThe rooms are delightful along with the rest of the hotel. The food is great with such a choice for everyone, even the kids.
The pool and surrounding area is so clean I think you could possibly eat your dinner off it. The staff make this hotel the place it is as they are so friendly and cannot do enough for you, from the cleaners to the lovely lifeguards nothing is too much trouble for them.
Hopefully I shall be going again with my children for another delightful two weeks next year (fingers crossed). Definitely worth 10 out of 10.

Submitted By: Mrs M BallThe air-conditioning did not work nor did the fridge although we did advise the reception several times of this.
We travelled with Thomson for the last time on this holiday as they did not book us the sea-view we wanted and we ended up looking at a large bush on a cliff a few yards from our balcony. Not a very good view!
The hotel dining was reasonable for choice but you could not get any food that was not luke warm or cold. We feel that this hotel is more suited for families than couples as the pool was always full of children with lilos, balls and rubber rings. It was impossible to swim properly.
The beach, however, was beautiful and well lined with walk boards as the sand got very hot. There is also a good beach bar next door that sold decent beer not the fizzy German lager that the hotel supplied.
The buffet lunch bar was better for food that the dining room and there were plenty of tables but only about 12 in the no smoking section.
I would not return to this hotel again as it was very disappointing. The one good thing about this hotel is that they provided a free shuttle bus to Corfu Town which is the only way to get out of the resort without trying to walk up the very steep road.

Submitted By: Mr B Bass WoodcockThe staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities are brilliant, fantastic swimming pool, plenty of shady areas when it gets a bit hot.
Daytime activities are very good so is the evening entertainment.
A very clean hotel with close attention to every detail.
We will go again.

Submitted By: Mrs S FlemingI had a wonderful holiday here last year and they have their own private beach.
The hotel is decked out in marble and is cleaned thoroughly everyday. The food was lovely.
Only one small complaint, once you get there you are sort of stuck there. It is on the other side of a mountain... But in all honesty, this was good as it made you relax!

Submitted By: boothyStaff are unbelievable, they cannot do enough for you, from the maid, cleaning ladies, the bar staff, restaurant staff, activities staff, and not forgetting the lifeguard!
Sun, sea sand and peace and quiet is what you get at this hotel, just perfect.
Will be going again!

Submitted By: Mrs L CambellThis hotel is beautiful and does not need any more re-furbishment as others have suggested.
If you want sun, sea, relaxation and exceptional service then this is the hotel to visit.
The local staff are amazing, whether they be cleaning staff, bar staff, activities group, waitresses, chefs or reception, oops nearly forgot the lifeguard, everyone helped make our holiday just perfect.
The First Choice Greek night is well worth seeing, but we didn't go on any other organised trips.
Will we go again? You bet we will!

Submitted By: Mr G S WilliamsSpacious public areas. The Front where you arrive is like the back and does not look attractive.
The Gardens are mature and well kept. The Swimming pool is newish. Lots of free loungers on the beach too.
Not so good were the "games" facilities. We went early season but all the same over the three times we have been there these "all inclusive" facilities have been the worst of all the all inclusive places we have stayed at.
For instance, the Free Tennis Court had a pretty ropey net (held up by a piece of metal in centre because the taughtening machinery was bust.) Dirt on court. No broom to sweep away puddles after rain. Balls could escape under wire.
Table tennis, one net of two was pretty ropey. Volley ball area had debris in sand (twigs and flotsam), the net was too low and tatty, and there was no rope to mark the boundary. No hose to cool the hot sand.
Boules (pettanque) court was a hard baked area in front of the archery target, and the boules could fly off stones unpredictably.
While the Animators were enthusiastic they were let down by tatty equipment (Other than the darts competition which was mind numbingly embarrassingly bad).
You could eat Breakfast and Dinner on the open air balcony off the dining room overlooking the Gardens. We liked that. Also nice clean white table cloths for dinner. Quite posh considering that the guests weren't mainly. But everyone behaved fine. No obvious drunkenness.
Sandy gently shelving beach. Steep road up hill at back. Can’t really walk easily to local village, too steep. Small supermarkets very near. Free daily bus to and From Corfu Town.
Good place for families who do not want to go clubbing... but there is a famous beach bar just up the beach which plays loud music which was not disturbing to hotel guests.

Submitted By: darna28The sea was a freezing and the wind was blowing when we arrived. It rained a little the next day.
The following day the weather went from strength to strength. 28 by the last day.
The sea was great and our 4 year old grandson was soon jumping the big waves and had a great time... couldn't get him out of the water!
The staff was all wonderful and very polite. The food was too good and ate far too much. There was so much choice and the quality was lovely. If you love Greek food you'll love this hotel. If you don't why not stay at home and eat steak/chicken and chips!
We have always thought if you're going some were you should get out and about, but shamed to say we didn't move for our weeks stay....it was a holiday for our grandson and he didn't want to leave the hotel.
All in all it was lovely and we'll be back.

Submitted By: Mrs J Beaulieh-ShandI have been to this hotel 3 times with my family and the staff have always been lovely. I can only assume that those who have not enjoyed it are probably the sort who are rude to the staff and sometimes, no doubt, the staff are rude back - who can blame them!
Lovely, lovely hotel and we are going back again in June 2007. The family rooms are just gorgeous with sliding doors to separate the children from the adults.

bit upset our upgrade to seaview was not as expected !! we had to stand on tiptoe to see the sea !!!
on the whole it was great ,, out of the way but very relaxing .. we even got used to the wasps !!!!
would go back any time .. first choice were brilliant .. no problems
