A shame the flight was delayed and we ended up on a thomas cook plane what a killer for such a fong flight not a very nice plane after all the promises of extra leg room. We arrived at the Riu Bambu although a lovely hotel the pool bar was rather manic by the afternoons so by day four we decided to move next door to Riu Macao where we could relax and know we could see our little girl all the time, what a fabulous hotel the food georgeous, weather perfect the staff amazing wow!! can not wait to go back next year.

We went to Riu Bambu which is the sister hotel 2 years previous to stopping in the Riu Palace Macao. We loved it so much the first time we jumped at the chance to go back to this little bit of paradise!
The Palace was only slightly dearer than the Bambu so we decided to stay there as you can use facilities of all the hotels, plus you get your own beach bar and waiter service around the pool.
The hotel and gardens are always clean and tidy. The food is spectacular, so much choice you are spoilt every night. We even had champagne breakfast! The staff are all very friendly and polite and nothing is too much trouble. We ran out of bottled water one day and asked reception for more on our way back from breakfast. The water was just being delivered to our room as we got back...speedy service too!!
The only thing I was disappointed about was how many other hotels had appeared along the beach in the space of 2 years. The first time we visited this area, you could walk only 5 minutes to find a secluded spot, all of the secluded spots have now gone, and the beach does get busy with all of the extra people.
However if you have never visited the resort before you would not know any difference...I still love the place and would still love to go back someday.

Heaven!
The best hotel we've ever stayed in. Myself and my now husband got married here.
For anyone thinking to do the same it is definitely the perfect location. I really can't put into words how fantastic this hotel is, you really have to see it to believe it.
The food, the staff, the rooms, the cleanliness - out of this world! Drink orders taken from the pool, drink champagne all day long, where else can you do this? Especially for the price! Like I said above, the food was always delicious and fresh, there were 21 of us and no-one ever had stomach upset.
The pool was gorgeous, even if you came out at 1pm there were still empty sun beds, with umbrellas! The beach was immaculate, with a special reserved area for palace guests! The entertainment is fantastic, after a few days all of the staff knew our names, all 21 of us. They seemed genuinely happy to help.
As much as I have praised this hotel it still doesn't describe how perfect it is. If you are unsure on a destination or a hotel there really is no need to look any further.

My husband and I went to this hotel due to our holiday to Riu Tequila being cancelled due to Hurricane Wilma. We can honestly say that we were not at all disappointed.
It deserves a 5 star rating. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you to make your stay a happy and relaxing one. The food is good and the two themed nights we had in the main restaurant (Mexican and Caribbean) were very good. The pool and surroundings are lovely and spacious and peaceful.
The staff help you with your sun bed mattress and put your towels on your bed and parasol up for you. Pampering you all day long. Drinks a plenty (champers all day yummy!).The room we had was overlooking the front of the hotel on a corner of the hotel and we had a big balcony with 2 big rocking chairs and table. We had plenty of room for all our clothes etc.
The maid worked very hard and kept our room spotlessly clean and turned down our bed every night leaving either a sweet on each pillow or a flower, a lovely touch we thought. Towels were plentiful too, came round every early evening to give you more clean towels. The entertainment was okay and the lounge bar was a nice place to go to have a drink.
We loved the beach and you can walk for miles along the beach which we did every day. All in all we would go back to this hotel again.

The hotel has a whole is nice; the staff are fantastic & really make this hotel. It has some wonderful attributes but they tend to get overshadowed by things that are not quite right. I am not talking about the small niggly things but the major issues, which for me is cleanliness & raw food. it is not only unnecessary but it is dangerous.
I don’t feel this hotel is a Palace in any sense of the word & going by our past experiences of both Riu palaces & their standard club hotels I would say that this is actually on par with a club hotel. They do cheap rates fri-mon so the hotel gets very full with locals. Now this in itself shouldn’t be a problem but what is a problem is that the hotel is allowing them to behave in a way that shouldn’t be tolerated from ANY hotel guest. The children run riot knocking on doors & screaming & without adult supervision. The adults themselves can be rude & loud & seem to take over the whole place. This is the first time we have experienced this at a Riu Palace & this is our 3rd stay at one. I believe they are planning a major shake up of the hotels with some already being demolished. I think that the money is getting spent at the Punta Cana Palace (which I believe is every inch a palace) & they are forgetting the others.
The entertainment is on par with other AI resorts. Some good some not so good, but overall we enjoyed the majority of them. The team work very very hard at what they do with a smile & full of enthusiasm. None of the shows we watched were in the least bit offensive to anyone & I find it impossible to believe any normal person would be offended by any of the entertainment on offer. Evening entertainment started at 9.45pm & was either a Themed show, Karaoke, Michael Jackson or audience participation show.
Leigh -Ann the rep was a really nice girl & I loved her idea of leaving a box out for left over sun lotions etc in the Thomson rep area for people to help themselves for free. I think majority of people left a load of different things in it for other people to get the use of. I actually ran out of factor 50 sun lotion so was able to get some to use so that was great. She also had a bookstand full of different books for you to exchange your unwanted books. However getting us to the airport 4 hours before our flight is a little unnecessary.
The staff that stick out to me for a mention are Enmanuel our buffet waiter, he was excellent at his job, Antonito who served drinks at the pool & bar he is as mad a hatter, very friendly & happy & Ysabelia she was a fantastic waitress making sure you always had a drink & often a round of drinks would arrive that we hadn’t ordered but she had noticed we were low so got us some, We all said she was responsible for many of our hangovers lol. Im sure there are many more deserving members of staff to mention but these are the ones that stick out in our minds.
Apart from the raw food issues (were we just had to be more vigilant) we didn’t let any of the other minor things spoil our holiday in any way.
We were lucky to not have paid the full brochure price for this holiday but had I been one of the many that had, then I would have felt very cheated. I would still recommend this hotel to people but I would like them to be aware of the things we found a problem. I am happy to continue staying at Riu hotels for the foreseeable future
