The place needs a good upgrade, A/C should be in all rooms as it is too hot without it. Leave the door open and you get eaten by mossies. A mossie smoke deterant is a must.
Beds are a mattress on a chipboard box, not at all comfortable, an electric kettle would be nice too.
Cockroaches in room and public areas where the A/C was never on, the corridors were hotter than the outside!
Having been to many countries and stayed in many hotels I would have to say that this place is definately 4th division. I have styaed in better hotels in trouble stricken African countries where you would expect hotels to be of a lowish standard.
I will definately not be going back to this place, how it is 3 star is also a mystery.

my husband, son and myself transfered into this hotel on the 2nd day of our holiday after a awful time in an apartment called burlington courts in st julians bay, that was not a hotel at all but a filthy, horrible dive that would of had me and my family flying home immediatly if it wasnt possible to transfer.
the move cost us quite a lot of euros about e180 but so well worth it.
clover courts was a breath of fresh air. our ground floor apartment was lovely, large and very clean. NO cockroaches... we were placed near some very freindly people and had regular chats with them each evening in the enclosed courtyard we shared.
staff were nice, especially Joe.. night receptionist. extremelly helpful and in general a very nice gentleman. pool area was nice but both outdoor and indoor pool were freezing. there wasnt much entertainment but i thinking that was possibly due to start of season. only saw gordon elvis. he was plesant enough and everyone seemed to enjoy the show which went on for quite a long time.
if you like reading the reception lets you swap your books if you ask them.
after walking just one way along the coast for a few days we decided to try the opposite direction and was pleasently surprised, plenty bars, cafes ect...
bus station was only a couple of mins away and quite easy to figure out timetables etc.
we travelled all over island. top tip ..get a 7 day ticket, much cheaper.
craft village and medina a really good day out. go early so you get to do both in same day. valletta was really nice and surprisingly there is a very large eating place in the centre of valletta just near the entrance to the gardens where they set off the noon day cannons that was probably the best value we had seen on the whole of the island.. typically tho we only found it on next to last day.
melliah beach was nice. trip to victoria on gozo worth a trip, has a nice square and an all day market. st. pauls bay seemed to be more for older generation. some of which, prob regulars to the island were quite rude. ashamed to admit it but british. most were nice and friendly but there were some who seemed to lack very basic manners and were quite pushy as if they owned the pavements. no excuse me, just a shove.
mosta dome worth a visit, ladies are expected to cover shoulders and no sleeveless dreses or shorts etc. skirts provided just inside entrance. i just used one round my shoulders as couldnt find any shawls.
due to rubbish rate on euro at the min against the pound we found malta to be quite expensive for most things.
we went to the large sunday market but wish we had not bothered, you were herded like cattle and could not see anything because of crowds and that was not peak season.
my husband and myself are early 40s and lad a teen and we feel that although malta is a nice place it did not really suit our tastes but did get lots of lovely photographs.
popeye village has a couple of very small rides for children but there is not a lot there.
if you are going i would suggest taking your swimming costume and a picnic as there is a lovely bay that seems to be a bit exclusive once you are inside, other wise it is what it says just a film set which could be veiwed in half hour or so. last bus about 4 from there so go in the morning if possible and use the bay.
we are not big drinkers, party goers, head to st julians for that.
not a lot other than beach and pool for the young people.
a lot of the people we spoke to which were older than us seemed to be on memory lane trips from serving in the forces when a lot of the british were based in valletta.
timeshare touts a real pain. pestering all the time, mainly mornings.
forget the duty free goodies your better off at home in supermarkets for your wines and spirits etc.. tobbacco not fantastic bargin either.
best buy of holiday got to be fresh loose bread everyday.. it was lovely. if you have not got transfers some of shops arrange them reasonable.
i won't say never again but i don't think i will be rushing back anytime soon.

We initially booked for two weeks, then later changed our minds and went for three. We were very surprised that the extra week cost just £35 extra for the pair of us.
We had a 'Superior' apartment on the ground floor with 2 patio areas right next to the pool. The low wall there allowed us to leap over and put towels on a couple of sunbeds before the pool opened at 9am. Naughty, but there you go! We did actually use them, unlike others who plopped their towels on the sunbeds and then disappeared off shopping for the morning.
The apartment was huge and far better than we expected. Absolutely spotless and the maid service was excellent.
Lounge / kitchen / bedroom 1 area with drop-down double bed settee. Telephone, TV, microwave, iron & board, and most importantly, air conditioner. Bathroom / toilet off.
Bedroom 2 with 2 single beds, a little uncomfortable but not really a problem, ceiling fan and bathroom & toilet off. Plenty of storage space with two large wardrobes.
Bar / restaurant not the best with a limited menu, fairly basic but adequate and not at all expensive.
Very friendly staff who bent over backwards to ensure we had a pleasant stay, particularly the reception staff, one of whom is a scouser!
I'd have no hesitation recommending these apartments to anyone.
Absolutely spot on... But then...

Absolutely spot on... But then again, I'm half Maltese and have a real soft spot for the place.
Amanda, and her staff are so friendly and helpful...
One bit of advice, get a room with air con, it really is needed, I think they are called prestige rooms, and they are no more expense, (I think).
The bus terminal is 2 minutes walk, you must use the number 48 and go to Melliha Bay, it is the place to be. The main square is 10 minutes walk, the best food is in the Bognor, located right by the Med... The owner, She is Maletese, is married to Terry, who is English, The Mum and Sister, and all the staff are fantastic, when you go, just tell them Jamie says Hello, and they'll look after you, they call me and my partner, Andrea, Table 80! I always get Mushroom and Salami pizza...
The restaurant in the Clover is fine, ran by an English women, the food is nice, well priced and they are also very helpful...

The room: Spacious, somewhat old fashioned, but everything was functioning, very clean (like the whole complex).
The staff: VERY friendly and helpful all the time.
Very near to the shops, the restaurants and (important!) - the bus station - and the promenade (one road away), but still situated in a very quiet side road - just ideal!
It is possible to have rooms with air con, which is necessary - even in the early autumn.

Clover Court is cheap, clean and friendly. Myself and my partner had a lovely relaxing time but you need to be aware of a few things before booking:
1) No air-con and with the heat this can get unbearable at night. If you open the windows, you get bitten my mosquitoes.
2) Old-fashioned but still clean. Felt like we had been sent back to the 1950s...
3) Location is great for bus station, coast etc
4) Bugibba is a bit like Blackpool on the Mediterranean
5) Staff are lovely and very helpful
6) Beds - very uncomfortable and 2 singles was not that much fun for a couple
7) Sun-beds - you need to get to the pool early for a sun-bed
Otherwise, we never ate there because it smelt awful and was really expensive but it's an ideal place to get around from. I advise you take a mosquito net though!

We stayed at the Clover Apartments for two weeks and had a great time. The rooms were basic but very comfortable with maid cleaning everyday except sundays. Our room did get very hot with only a fan on the ceiling which just seemed to move the hot air around so air conditioning would definitely be a good idea.
The pool was nice and big enough although there weren't many sun beds which meant you would have to get up very early to get a bed beside the pool plus they do not allow umbrellas around the pool so it gets very hot with no shade.
The restaurant on the sun-deck was ok and sold a range of food although this can be quite expensive and wasn't very tasty.
All the staff who work in the restaurant were very friendly and they made our holiday all the more fun.
The Clover Apartments were ideally located with just a short 2 minute walk to the beach. The beach was very rocky and its really hard to get in the actual water, also we have never seen so many jellyfish as we did on this holiday so if your a big beach swimmer we recommend you go to either the golden bay to swim or qawra bay as they had no jellyfish and clear blue water.
Also the Blue lagoon has beautiful clear waters with hundreds of different fish to see this can get very busy but is worth the visit.
We found it very hard to find some where really nice to eat, all the restaurants seemed to sell frozen meals unless you wanted fish. Our two favourite were Mone lisas and the over flow. I would definitely think about going back again in a few years time x.

These apartments although old fashioned were fabulous, really spacious and very clean.
They are very central and the staff could not be more helpful. My husband, myself and my two children thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
The bar/restaurant service and the reception service is excellent, the indoor and outdoor pool are super.
Could not really fault it - great value for money.

We stopped two weeks at the clover complex in august, the first week the temperatures went into the high 30 with only one ceiling fan in the bedroom and a portable fan in the kitchen area come bedroom. The night temperature was too hot by far. The first week the maid came everyday until the Sunday. After that we only saw her twice.
The pool was ok however we did note that they was a lot of debris in the bottom of the pool and a number of people we meet had eye problems through swimming in the pool. There is a restaurant on site this is run by different people to the hotel. We only eat a few times there for launch this was ok. However at night time they put on entertainment which seemed to co-inside with the night menu which was expensive as you could have a better meal in Qawra.
The complex was in a good location and a few upgrades like aircon and removing the water heaters from the rooms would go a long way to improving this complex we did note the certain rooms had aircon! Already. This is our second visit to Malta the Island and the people a lovely. As a budget accommodation then this was ok.

An ideally situated complex, local for the sea front walks, bars and various shops in Qawra. The pool was ideal for the children and appartments were extremely clean and comfortable. Bus trips to the sandy beaches were fun on the maltese yellow buses!! Staff were helpful and friendly at all times.

This is a very quiet location, but still within easy reach of the activities going on in Qawra.
The hotel/apartments surround a central area in which is located a swimming pool.
This does mean that at odd times during the day you maybe in the shade, however for me it is nice to get some shade especially in the heat of Summer.
There is an attached Restraunt and this is run indepenently, the meals are basic but enjoyable and the staff were all friendly.
My rating of 8/10 is based upon experience in Malta not worldwide.
