Not a 4 star
from WirralWanderer
Thomson are advertising this hotel as a 4 star in their cruise and stay package....not a 4 star in our opinion ! The bedroom was huge but the double bed was barely big enough for two, bathroom adequate but no plug for the bath and very low water pressure. Towels were changed daily but only on one day did we actually get "bath" sized towels. Aircon was good as it was individually controlled in the room but so noisy at night it made it difficult to sleep. The aircon in the public areas is none existant and this was unbareable in the evenings and during the 75 minutes we were kept waiting to check in. The food in the main restaurant is very poor, and not much better in the "China Spice" restaurant that has now opened in the hotel. The lagoon pool is nice and shallow and gives you time to have breakfast before you need to join the queue at 9.30am for a 10am opening. Food here isn't as good as the main pool though as it is left in the open air and gets covered in flies. The general area around the hotel is very run down but walking through it in the evening beats the awful hotel entertainment. A good mosquito repelent is a must....the place is alive with the because of the trees and water surrounding the hotel.
Extremely disappointed

We have just returned from one weeks all-inclusive stay. This hotel has recently undergone refurbishment and we were expecting a top notch hotel, unfortunately this was not the case. Our room was shabby. The bathroom was small with dodgy, dirty grouting and included an internal window that opened to expose an internal drainage shaft. The bath plug didn't fit properly and the water pressure was so low it took half an hour for the bath to fill. The hotel claims all rooms have either a garden, pool or sea view - we had a delightful view of the shabby hotel car park and the kitchens bins. Our air conditioning unit was full of dust and subsequently didn't work properly. The hotel manager wasn't particulary interested and refused to offer us another room as they were fully booked. The pool areas were adequate, although people would queue early for the Lagoon pool as sun loungers were limited. The beach wasn't a traditional beach - there were steps leading down into the water and the sand was grey and coarse. The gardens and landscaped areas were unkempt and in some cases unfinished. The food served, although plentiful, was unappetising, lacking any flavour or smothered in mayonnaise. All-inclusive guests obtained drinks from a dispensing machine which tasted like they had been watered down including the beer. The surrounding area of Gouvia is a dump. Full of tacky souvenir shops and crumby bars, kids on mopeds and neon lighting. On paper, the hotel Louis Corcyra looked and sounded good, the reality was in fact extremely disappointing.
close to excellent

just returned from two weeks stay at the louis corcyra beach hotel, it was absolutely fab, the food, rooms, views, hospitality, cleanliness, were all spot on. The new lagoon pool was picturesque with a cascading water fall at one end and two fountains at the other, lots of garden areas with plenty of sunbeds, the beach is shingle but that didnt stop us going in the sea ( a pair of beach shoes solved that ) the sea is beautiful and clear and very calm. Gouvia has lots of bars and shops, hackers, whispers, morphs are just a few to mention with lovely friendly staff who can all speak good english.
lovely hotel with fantastic views

we have just returned from a weeks stay at the Louis Corcyra Beach. Having read some of the negative reports from other trip advisor members we were quite concerned about the standard of the hotel and were worried about reports of building work at the hotel. we need not have worried. We had been allocated one of the hotels new garden rooms and while these rooms dont have the best views they are newly built and have adequate facilities. The grounds of the hotel well maintained and very spacious. The hotel reception area is bright and clean and we found the staff helpful and friendly. All building work has now been completed some garden work is taking place but this does not affect holiday makers. The restaurant areas are very clean and the food was always nice everything was hot and their was always plenty of choice. We didnt have children with us but they seem to be very well catered for. The hotel overlooks Gouvia Bay and the veiws from the outside eating areas and the rooms with a sea veiw are stunning. Gouvia itslf has quite a few local shops and restaurants a nice clean beach and a marina. Overall we had a good holiday and had no complaints about the hotel. I suppose the rooms would not be concidered 4* standard in other parts of the world but for Greece the standard was quite high.

just returned from a 10 day half board trip to the louis corcyra. we stayed in a family sea view room in the naussica building. paying extra for the sea view is well worth the money as the setting is very easy on the eye. dont think i would like the bungalows as you had little terrace or balcony to sit out on and leaving doors open at night might be a problem. the family rooms are spacious with sliding doors to separate the 4 beds, they come with large balcony and are clean and comfortable with maid service and clean towels daily. air conditioning not brilliant which would be a problem in high summer and also unit situated in the extra beds side of the room pool and lagoon area very nice indeed as is the beach. plentiful beds available. reception dining and terrace areas are really nicely done and have large modern glass doors which concertina right back to let a breeze through. the outside eating area is set on wooden decking and has a lovely ambience with wonderful views across the bay. our second time in a louis hotel and once again the fabulous food did not disappoint. i cant imagine what some people must eat on some of the reviews as there is wide variety of really well prepared and tasty food to suit every one! all the staff we met were pleasant and helpful with full marks to spyros the waiter who effortlessly did a fantastic job. there is some building work going on which is situated to the side of the lagoon area and it would certainly affect anyone in the main building with inland views. all in all a really excellent hotel which we would not hesitate to recomend. travelling around, the north east is beautiful dramatic scenery with pebbly beaches, worth a visit is kalami and agni bay, also glyfada has a lovely sandy beach with waves ideal for belly boarding (also yummy donuts for sale on the beach!) avoid moraitikia, messonghi and the god awful beach at aghios gorgeous on the south west no mozzies at this time of year and weather exceptionally warm with 2 good downpours gouvia itself is no more than 5 mins walk from hotel where you will find plentiful bars and tavernas, silver nights is good for the football games with several large screens and watch out for the owner who puts his party piece music on after every goal! also get a seat early in morfes bar for the pint sized elvis impressionist, fab!!.
Lovely Hotel, lovely people

I can't quite believe some of the negative reviews the Louis Corcyra is getting! Some people are just too hard to please. We have just returned from a week and were all extremely impressed. The setting is absolutely stunning, the surrounding scenery is hard to beat. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the food very good. There is some building work going on, but this is only noticeable on the approach to the hotel, once in the complex, you can neither see nor hear the work. The lagoon area (outside the main complex) could be beautiful, but the view from here is not brilliant because of the building work and there is noise during the day, but that didn't bother the kids one little bit who would rather be in the lagoon than the hotel pool. The hotel pool is more than good enough and is about 20 meters from the sea - you couldn't ask for more! Oh, and there is a beach bar too. Our bungalow was spacious and clean and the bathroom was much cleaner than many other holiday hotels I have stayed in. All in all, we had a superb holiday and would certainly return (probably next year) when the complex will have benefited further from the improvements currently under way. One final thing, there is a Taverna in Gouvia called Moukas. I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff are incredibly friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and superb value for money (they will do half portions of everything on the menu for children, even half a plate is more than enough!).
Fantastic hotel and location

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Corcyra Beach and had a fantastic time. We had originally been due to stay at the Almyros Village in Acharavi but were told a week before that we would be moved to the Corfu Sea Gardens. After much to-ing and fro-ing with our agent we settled on the Louis Corcyra Beach with just 2 days to spare before the start of our hols! Our expectations were not particularly high but we were more than pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel and the location is fantastic with a beautiful view of the sea and I highly recommend the terrace for a few drinks before heading out for the evening to Gouvia. It was the first time I had gone all inclusive and I was v happy with the food and drinks selection, although of course the local spirits are definitely not as strong as the UK - still it saved on getting a hangover! The bars and restaurants in the surrounding area of Gouvia are excellent too and we had some great nights out without having a huge long walk to get to anything. We had great sea view rooms with enormous balconies and everything was v clean and the rooms were spacious. The maids come in every day to clean and do a nice job. My only criticism is of one of the pool bar staff who was surly and miserable. Other than that everyone else was great, particularly the management. After moving us from an inland room to a sea view room (which we should have had on our arrival), we received a bottle of wine with an apology note and a basket of fruit which was a really nice surprise. I would definitely recommend this hotel, particularly for all inclusive as you definitely save a lot of money (the sun beds at the beach are 4 euros a day otherwise).
Couldn't be worse

We stayed two weeks in Corfu. The first week we spent in the Grecotel Daphnila Bay and the second week at the Louis Corcyra Beach. The difference between both hotels is shocking. The Grecotel is nice, all staff are very polite and kind, the food is great and the beach is clean. Also, the hotel is located very quitly. The Louis Corcyra Beach is just the opposite. It just seems like a building site, the staff seems not very interested, the food is average ( mostly chicken and porc ) and the beach area is just bad. Another hotel wing was being built when we were there, so it is very noisy with workers all around. Also, the lagoon swimming pool which was on all internet sites was not finished yet. One plus for the Corcyra, our bungalow was quite spacious and well located close to the sea. Overall, spend some more money and go to the Grecotel ( which is 3 km further down the road ) where you will spend a far better time than in the lousy Louis Corcyra beach. For us, no more Louis ever again !
Lovely setting.

Just returned from stay at Louis Corcyra hotel. We were in a bungalow overlooking the sea and it was lovely. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The hotel was immaculately clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good with plenty of choice. T he grounds are extensive and very well kept. On the down side the evening entertainment was rather disappointing and there is building work going on right next door which might be a problem if you were in the front of the main hotel building ,but in the bungalows it is not a problem.
holiday from hell

We booked a holiday to this hotel through Thomas Cook and were called 48 hours before and told there was building work by the side of the hotel that may affect the main reception and the food hall! We were told we could cancel and book another time but that we would have to pay an amendment fee! We Went! We were greeted with a huge building site to the left of the main reception! It was really shocking. We were told we would have to pay 200 euros to be moved to a different hotel because we were half board and the other hotel was all inclusive! We refused and asked to be moved from the very shabby smelly room we had been allocated. They refused. The food was awful! The whole experience taught us never to book through Thomas Cook again and never to go to Corfu again! The Rep Nicola was very surly and informed us 'all her other guests were happy about the building site and she had no complaints! (Billy Liar). we met plenty of other people who had the same complaints. This is not a 4 star hotel and do not ever go there!!!!!!!AND never travel with Thomas Cook!
Stayed here AUGUST 2011 lovely hotel, food very good if a bit repetative. Our only problem was the sheer volume of guests, which the staff, restaurants, pools, beach, reception all seemed to have difficulty coping with although they all worked extremely hard. The outdoor... more
