7 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs H Hume

On arrival was told they were overbooked and we would be moved to another hotel, apparently this happens quite often.
We went with friends who didn’t have to move so they managed to fit us in somehow! More like a 3* Hotel.
Entertainment is very poor, bar area is so small. Pools are great, indoor pool is open all year round and is heated, even in July. No kid’s entertainment lay on. Enough facilities for teenagers but cost the earth to use.
Staff were nice enough but never cracked a smile. Weather was very hot during the day but very windy at night. Bus, train, taxi all on the doorstep as is McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC, and a lovely Chinese. The Old town is very expensive especially for drinks.
The Strip was better priced and not too rowdy even late at night. Beaches are nice but waves too dangerous for young children. Wouldn't go back, too cold at night. but hotel was good.

We found this hotel to be very clean,...

Jul 2007, Miss P Lang

We found this hotel to be very clean, friendly with large and spacious rooms.
It was in a very good location between old and new towns but a wee bit away from the beach, there is a tourist train which stops right outside that took us to the strip and to the old town, this was very handy because taxi queues got very big at night.
Albufeira is a very clean friendly place that caters for all.
The only down side to our hotel was that there was absolutely nothing for the kids during the day and there was only one small show on a Friday night, the restaurant food was very nice but very limited, only two choices for main course every night and one was always white fish, starters and puddings were also limited in choice.
Overall this is a nice hotel but I would recommend self catering, the staff, especially, the maids and pool attendants, do an excellent job.

Visited this hotel on many occasions...
9 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs A Inch

Visited this hotel on many occasions including my mother’s 60th birthday.
For this my dad phoned the hotel in advance and arranged flowers and a cake from the cake shop next door.
On arrival the cake and flowers were in the room and were fabulous and the hotel had included a bottle of champagne to make mums day even better.
We love how clean it always is, how the pots in the kitchen always look brand new, how clean the pool area is and overall just how the place has looked the same every time we have visited, always the same high standards.
I disagree with some of the comments about the reception staff as we have always found them very pleasant and very helpful.
The breakfast in the hotel is great value and the freshly baked rolls are delicious.
The hotel have arranged car hire for us and this has always been of a good rate.
We are visiting again this year, my parents for two weeks and I am joining them for a few days.
I think old town has been given a face lift as was looking very dirty and tired.
But jump in a car and visit places further afield just use the Brisa sol as your base.
And without fail go to Guia for the best chicken piri piri at Alfredos.
Food at the poolside bar we have always found of a good standard too.

Hotel was absolutely fantastic. We...

May 2007, Miss M D Hawins

Hotel was absolutely fantastic. We went on an allocation on arrival holiday which I was a bit worried about but thankfully ended up at the 4* Brisa Sol Hotel.
The hotel is truly fantastic, clean and beautifully laid out.
The location is marvellous as it is directly in between old and new town with a little land train for 3 euro a ticket will take you between the towns.
McDonalds, KFC, and Pizza hut across the road. With a supermarket next door and a bakery on the hotel ground.
We had a pool view balcony which was gorgeous at night when the pool was all lit up.
Also has a game room with mini golf, pool tables, arcade machine etc.
Truly amazing holiday, you will love it.

The Brisa Sol was in a very good...
8 / 10
May 2007, Mr M Manning

The Brisa Sol was in a very good location, it’s situated between the old and the new town so you have the best of both worlds.
It’s also right next door to a large supermarket which is very handy and across the road there is more shops, such as McDonalds and kfc if you’re into that kind of thing.
The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms where spacious. The balcony views are not that great, unless you have one looking over the pool area as the others seem to overlook the side of the supermarket.
Facilities were ok such as indoor pool and the games room. It’s not really the best apartments if you’re the younger generation like me, as it seems to be more for middle aged couples and for older people.
The entertainment was ok at night but karaoke night was the best it got really.
Overall it was good and the weather was great so that will do for me. The Brisa Sol is great if you want a quite holiday away.

Went in Feb, not expecting good...

Mar 2007, Ms R Warner

Went in Feb, not expecting good weather but we were pleasantly surprised, no rain and sunshine at some point throughout the day, but very cold at night.
The aparthotel was great, staff very helpful and friendly. The cleaning staff were excellent; rooms cleaned 5 days in 7 with clean towels and t-towels.
There is a patisserie attached to the hotel which was first class. Cheap but very high quality, they do a great fillet steak cob!
There is a great supermarket 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
We would definitely go again but only out of season.

We were very disappointed with this...
6 / 10
Nov 2006, Mrs T Murray

We were very disappointed with this hotel. The 1st room we were given, overlooked a car park and side of a large supermarket and had steps to the apartment and steps to the balcony. This did not suit me as I have arthritis.
The Airtours brochure does not state there are steps and some rooms are not suited to people with walking difficulties. I asked to be moved as son as we arrived but were told the hotel was full to the end of the month!
Our rep sorted things out and we got moved after 4 days and had to pay an extra 66 euros! The rooms did not warrant 4 stars. They were average. Rooms were kept very clean.
There was some building work going on.
The food in the restaurant was boring, cold and the buffet was the smallest I have ever seen. Once something ran out it was not replaced. They wanted to make sure everything was used up!
The good thing about this hotel is its location. Handy to the old and new towns.

The time of year we chose was poor on...
7 / 10
Nov 2006, Mr A Pickering

The time of year we chose was poor on our part, the weather let us down most days. But the few days the sun was out, it was beautiful. The bars clubs were lively, the restaurants were fantastic.
As we were self catering, we didn’t really get a proper feel of what our hotel really had to offer, but the cafe food there was very nice, and the cleanliness was excellent. Our room was quite near the bar, so on the odd night it was quite loud and lively, but for the most part it was a very peaceful place to stay.
There is a McDonalds and a KFC right opposite, and a pizza hut next door for anyone who wants food from back home!
All in all its a great place to go, with many places to see and visit. And a perfect place to stay if all you want is peace and quiet!

My wife and I went to the Brisa Sol...
8 / 10
Nov 2006, R J Lilley

My wife and I went to the Brisa Sol on 19th October for two weeks, where we were in a studio.
The apartment was kept very clean and there were fresh towels and dish towels every day, and the maids were very friendly.
The reception and bar staff were very good and the general atmosphere was friendly.
The location was good as you could walk comfortably to the Strip (Montechoro area) in about 20 minutes and to the Old Town in about 10 minutes.
There were a number of things to do around the apartments and there was entertainment most nights.
I think that we preferred the Old Town as there was more entertainment there in the square and side streets in the open air. The temperature was about 22ºC and we did not require a pullover or jacket except for one evening when there was a slight shower. Any rain was mostly confined to the night time with an occasional shower during the day for the first week and very little rain on the second week with four of the days being very good.
The only down side to the holiday was that we were up from 02.30, arriving at 11.00, and could not get our room until 14.15, consequently we were quite shattered that day.
I would advise that it appears to be the custom in Portugal not to let you check in until between 14.00 and 17.00, although a couple who arrived with us were checked in right away.

This year we went back to Portugal...
10 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs Kelly Grant

This year we went back to Portugal and to the Brisa Sol for the second time. Portugal is a beautiful country and I understand why stars like Cliff Richard have homes there. Albufeira is a short scenic drive from the airport.
The hotel is great, its really clean and your rooms have everything you need. The whole feel of the place has a great family atmosphere and what was most impressive was the staff and their friendly attitude and helpfulness. Oscar and Victor in the hotel bar are a good source of useful information of where to go and what to do, including gorgeous places to eat. You cant beat the 'Casa do Chief' restaurant for quality, service and lovely surroundings. The hotel itself provides good entertainment every night and we particularly enjoyed the Karaoke night, which was hosted by a nice girl (sorry, I cant remember her name!) who got the right mix of doing a few songs herself and spending some time trying to gently persuade others to sing. Oscar and Victor rarely need any persuading though!! (Not bad singers either!)
Outside of the hotel you are ideally situated just next door to a huge supermarket and various shops and eateries just across the street. The beach is amazing and its really worth visiting the seafood restaurant which is right on the beach which has a great view from the top as well as serving excellent food. Of course no matter where you go in the Algarve it wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Zoo Marine, where a great day out can be had by all. The dolphin and sea lion shows there are wonderful as well as the marine aquarium/museum.
We will definitely be returning to Brisa Sol and who knows, maybe if I win the lottery one day, I may buy my own home in Albufeira!

We had a wonderful holiday the hotel...
7 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs M James

We had a wonderful holiday the hotel is excellent basic rooms but everything you need including tea towels and cloths not usually supplied when self catering.
The whole hotel and pool is kept spotless and you do not have to worry about clean towels as these are replaced regularly. We traveled around on the local buses which were cheap and you got to see the area as we were going around, Lagos was a lovely place to go and the boat trip to the caves from Vilamoura were well worth the money.
We are going back again in June 2007 and have booked with Portland Direct it is the first time we have ever returned to a hotel and we are really looking forward to it.

Weather lovely, staff very helpful, nice and clean. Breakfast excellent value-all you can eat buffet. Snack bar does a gorgeous chicken salad with grapes in.
Ladies don’t take high heels as the pavements are shiny. A BIG THANK YOU to Steve and Anne-Marie at Wild Bill Hiccups in the Old Town for the Stafford Press! See you in September
