Three of us went to Sissi Bay Hotel...
9 / 10
May 2005, Ms T.A. Garnett

Three of us went to Sissi Bay Hotel and had a wonderful one week holiday. We took the all inclusive package and we had good food, good service, clean and bright rooms, wonderful weather and it was a real treat to be surrounded by friendly smiling staff.
The all inclusive is limited ( i.e. bar closes 11 for free drinks, but I saw the reason why enough tourist drink and leave drinks they have had free, such a waste), but for the price of the holiday not being too expensive for May it was well worth the price.
Special thanks go the owner and her staff Kara, Sabina and Nikos for their smiling cheerful faces everyday, as did all the other staff, who made our holiday. We felt very sad to be leaving we will certainly go back for a holiday there again. Sissi Town is a delightful place on the coast, the Town situated at the harbour, which is bright and interesting and other good restaurants. Thank you Sissi Town and Sissi Bay Hotel. You will be seeing us again.

We booked this hotel knowing it is...
8 / 10
Oct 2004, Other B & J Whiffen

We booked this hotel knowing it is mainly aimed at the European visitors. The hotel has an official tourist board rating of 4 star however our agent sold it to us as 3 star.
We found the hotel clean bright and well maintained. Breakfast was aimed at the continental clients ( cold meat jam cheese etc) & we found lunch and dinner very good with a selection of salads, Cretan and international dishes.
The hotel has a small pool with pool bar local drinks included ( brandy, wine , beer, ouzo. raki), imported drinks available at extra cost. We found the staff friendly, courteous and efficient. We would go again

Accommodation was basic but very...
4 / 10
Jul 2004, Ms J Merrifeild

Accommodation was basic but very clean, staff were< on the whole very rude to English people in general. If there are more than two of you the bar staff will question you about the amount of drinks you get from the bar every time. Then tell you the English think they are very clever ? What they meant by this god only knows. There were three couples in our group the men were drinking lager only half pints allowed.
two of the woman drank mainly water and I drank lemon , mainly because you could not get any spirits even though we were all inclusive.
The food was edible but not a lot choice. The Sissi Bay Hotel is the only place that we have had to pay for air conditioning when visiting Greece .
The Jolly Roger next door is a lovely bar as is the bar at the end of the road.
The small swimming pool side of hotel they are the place’s we spent our money I would not give the Sissi bay another penny.
I would go to Sissi the resort again it is lovely but I would say give the Sissi bay hotel a very wide berth.
My 5 point rating only pertains to the cleaning staff.

Having just returned from the Sissi...
5 / 10
Jun 2004, Mr R Lamont

Having just returned from the Sissi Bay Hotel, I found the hotel to be very clean and the bedrooms fresh and recently decorated. The hotel is definitely not a 4* by British standards but all the hotel rooms have television and a small fridge and are generally comfortable. It is definitely advisable to pay the extra for the air conditioning(about 50 euros per week) and it makes your stay a whole lot more pleasant.
The hotel is located right beside a rocky beach but the situation is excellent with the a constant breeze and the sound of the sea, it really makes this an idyllic spot.
Now unfortunately, the bad news. If you take the All Inclusive deal you will definitely need that little fridge in your room to put some edible food in. The food is awful and don’t ask for butter for your bread at lunchtime or dinner. You will not be allowed it, even although, the bread is the only thing that you can eat !!!!!
The staff in the dining room were generally not as nice as the bar staff who were very pleasant and helpful. Be prepared to eat out and most of restaurants in the little village are excellent. Would go back again to the Sissi Bay Hotel but this time self catering

I must warn other holiday goers not...
1 / 10
Sep 2003, Miss F Taylor

I must warn other holiday goers not to make the same mistake we did. If you can avoid this hotel do so at all cost! We were promised by our holiday reps, that it was the equivalent to a British 4 star, and it definitely isn’t. As one other guest remarked it’s barely a 1 star!!!
The first room we were given was a grotty hole, full of dust mites and with an en-suite that was old, cracked, stained and so dark anything could have been lurking in the corners! After complaining to our rep the next day we were moved to another room, which we soon discovered had the extremely noisy kitchen flue running up the balcony, and only freezing cold water. Although the room was slightly more pleasant, I must stress definitely nowhere near 4 stars! The next day we requested to be moved again, and we were taken to a quieter room, much to the annoyance of the manageress/owner-who persisted to shout at us during the entire viewing!!! Still no more than a 2 star we resigned to our mistake and tried to make the most of our remaining 4 days.
On the morning of our long awaited departure the marble top of our balcony table fell to the ground smashing only half an inch from both of our feet. So not only an unpleasant place, but also horrifically dangerous!!!
Most of the other staff within the hotel were also extremely rude and very unhelpful. On the first evening when leaving the dining hall we took a set of stairs down to our room, situated below the pump for the swimming pool, a waiter stopped us and very abruptly asked 'where on earth do you think you are going?'. On replying 'to our room' the waiter gave us a suspicious look and then walked away. Not exactly polite service!
We had taken the all-inclusive package, a complete waste of money, as the food was so terrible we had to eat out every day. We attended two dinners, both of which promised three delicious choices. Those choices consisted of very greasy chips (apparently an entire meal in itself!), very greasy lamb skewer kebabs (which were very boring), or burnt liver!!
The large majority of guests in the hotel were extremely disappointed and felt badly let down by the misleading number of stars. The foyer every day was packed with disgruntled guests complaining to their reps. I see on this site it has been given 3 stars, perhaps slightly more realistic, but unless the entire hotel has been drastically changed, it’s still way off the mark!!
The hotel’s only saving grace is it’s location. Sissi Bay was a beautiful area to escape to, and believe me one needed to, at every possible opportunity.
