Excellent! This holiday made my holiday excellent. Some of these reviews are just stupid, if you want lights when you walk in then take the magnet off the key ring. I myself with my sister, and parents stayed at this hotel. It was excellent; the food is OPTIONAL so you don’t have to have stale chips all the time, besides they barely ever had chips. My guess is that it has changed a lot since all these reviews were written
The barbecue night was really enjoyable, I was drunk so I don’t remember it much but they had exotic food not more stale chips this night would have been perfect if not for seeing the dead pig with an apple in its mouth and the chef cutting it up.
Anyway I had a nice time I went to see the birthplace of Zeus which was nice.
Unfortunately I only have time to write this last things.
Make friends with the staff and they will with you, simple!
Last day was a bummer although I must admit at first it was a disappointment but it grew on us when I dreamt we went home.

We arrived at the hotel at about 6am having travelled all night. The reception area was lovely and we looked forward to our bed for a couple of hours. We were shown to our room and left.
The room was dark, smelt stale and the bedspread was badly stained. I then went to the toilet and could hardly squeeze between the walls either side of me and the shower was so small and at a peculiar angle that no way would I a larger lady be able to get into it.
We sat on the bed in despair. No way is this 4* my husband said. Everything about it was tardy. We both agreed that we wanted the next flight home. No way were we staying in here. When we had cooled down a little we decided to ask the girls at reception to be moved to a room with a bath and suitable for me to bathe in.
The girl at reception was extremely helpful and said that if we waited for 2 hours it may be possible to give us a room with a bath. Our new room, did not smell, was larger and had a small bathroom complete with bath. OK we decided to stay but this is still not 4*. We had been asked to pay for the air conditioning (what a cheek) which did not work so we called reception and they sent up a workman and he fixed it. We then slept for about 5 hours.
We then went down for evening dinner, the restaurant staff at poolside were extremely welcoming and very friendly helping us to feel at home. The food was 1st class and we thoroughly enjoyed the Cretian folklore evening.
Next day my husband wanted a bath. The hot water merely trickled from the tap. We again called reception and the workman returned.
Having worked for 35 years with mobile discos and nightclubs as a DJ I have never seen such atrocious entertainment in my life. Had I behaved in this way sticking CDs in the player and disappearing to drink at the bar I’d have been sacked on the spot.
The CD's kept sticking and I can only describe the music as artists trying to copy songs in broken English and it sounded awful. OK in all fairness he did have some good club classics. But the equipment was totally unsuitable for outdoor use.
The owner kept making the DJ turn down the sound at 10pm and this lead to a mass exodus of people. He certainly did not work for his money never opening his mouth to DJ except during children’s hour.
We boarded on an all inclusive basis but were somewhat surprised at the end of our holiday and no longer all inclusive, suddenly we could have a pint of beer and the coke came in a named bottle out of the fridge.
We enjoyed our break, but would not go back again. The owner seemed to be very unfriendly towards the English.
Our thoughts are accommodation 2 out of 10 and food is 8 out of 10
Sorry.

I was very disappointed with the all inclusive in this hotel. It was my first and it will be my last all inclusive. Do they think that we have no idea of quality because the coke the beer and the other rubbish they serve is absolutely awful stuff, I honestly felt insulted.
I also noticed that some children got 2 scoops of ice cream while others got one, the latter was UK holiday makers.
I heard the bar staff say to UK kids on several occasions around 6pm, come on now go to your rooms and take a shower for dinner, with a shooing action to go with it (isn’t this for their parents to say?).
You cannot swim until after breakfast because people are having breakfast around the pool but you can go to the top pool. The rooms are miserable and you have to pay separately for the air conditioning, and the shower is over a bath and YUK!!
I found the reception staff very polite but the bar staff not so, apart from Kelly, she’s lovely. Most residents go to bed after 11 O’clock because the all inclusive stops (you’ve never seen it empty so quickly) but we wanted to stay up and have a decent drink by paying for it and the face on the bar manager was like thunder.
This is only a rating of 2* max and I would not recommend it to anybody.

As a Doctor I am very picky about where I take my family on holiday. I had received very good reviews from friends and off the review websites. The Sissi Bay seemed to good to be true.
I took my wife and three kids (6,8,13) and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. The beach was a short stroll and the fishing village of Sissi was beautiful.
We went All Inclusive and glad we did as the varied meals throughout the week were exceptional. The kids really enjoyed the ice creams and the idea of picking there own food. I would thoroughly recommend anyone taking their children on holiday to snap this hotel up if they are offered a good deal. we paid £399 each and were extremely pleased with our purchase.
Well done Sissi Bay. We will return.

Having read the comments on this site we went to this hotel anticipating the worst. On arrival we were swiftly checked in and invited to have lunch as our room was not ready. Lunch was fine, the room was lovely and the hotel clean and comfortable. During the remainder of out time at the Sissi Bay Hotel, not once did we feel unwelcome. All staff were polite and were willing to help in any way they could.
All the staff put in some serious working hours during the week but at no time did we see ant of them complaining. Whilst I can understand some are unhappy with the menu choices, please remember that you are in Greece not the UK. The hotel are catering for several different nationalities on a limited budget.
I cannot imagine what people think they are going to get when the price of this holiday hardly indicates the luxury end of the travel market. As for petty comments regarding the swimming pool being salt water, and only local drinks being free, read the details and you will see what you are getting. The entertainment is fairly basic but this is a small village and not a major resort area, just because you are all inclusive you don't have to stay, you can leave and explore other places.
Some explanation as to why some British visitors have not been made to feel welcome include overweight men refusing to put on a t-shirt when dining (is only polite), children going up for ice-cream after ice-cream until they are nearly sick and general obnoxious attitudes at the bar!
All inclusive does not mean staff are there to be treated like dirt, so if you are due to visit this hotel, have an open mind, be prepared to eat out sometimes at the fantastic tavernas that are all around you and try to remember you are abroad!

I thought that if there wasn't such pleasant, lovely, entertaining bar and kitchen staff our holiday would have been canalled and we would have went home.
Ok, the food wasn't that great and it wasn't all that great with the all inclusive deals but you can't get any nicer people than the people who work in the pool bar (day and night) and the restaurant they were absolutely fabulous! Our whole family love them all and really didn't want to leave them we sent them a letter as soon as we got home!
The managers don't give two hoots about there customers and only care about the money the guy manager can't even speak a word of English! (What’s the point in running a hotel!) The rooms were clean. But occasionally we had to ask for more towels because of the shower that leaked everywhere onto the floor! But I would stay in this hotel but not go all inclusive!

I booked Sissi bay before reading the reviews and was obviously very nervous about what to expect. But I thought hey I am on holiday make the most of it. To my surprise the hotel was very nice our room very clean they are cleaned every day expect Sundays not bad that’s clean sheets and towels. Every body moans about the all inclusive not being all inclusive but its quite clear on the hotels website what you are getting.
No, the entertainment is not good but myself was looking for a quite relaxing holiday and that’s what I got. There is a beach a short walk away at another hotel which is beautiful. We hired a car and explored it was fab go to sunny beach fun beach 5 mins drive in car near Malia everything you need is there for a good fun day at the beach. The food I thought was ok not brilliant but for what we paid for the holiday a few nights out eating at the local restaurants was delicious. So go expecting basic clean and ok pools are good and there is a lovely breeze the local town is lovely for walking around evenings all very friendly and safe some people I think just like to moan about something.
When I was there other holiday makers were kicking right off because of the drinks not being free i.e. cocktails vodka etc it clearly states what their all inclusive includes go and enjoy your on your holidays. Couples old young families suitable for all.

Me and my partner booked a last minute holiday to the Sissi Bay hotel and after reading some of the reports on this website I found it really hard to get excited about going. I expected everything to be awful and even when boarding the plane I was dreading it. However when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the look of the reception area we were shown into.
We were shown to our room and I nearly cried as it was dark and dingy and like a cave! We went back to reception and explained we would like to move rooms and they were extremely helpful and moved us to a room the looked almost new. We were not actually situated in the hotel itself but in the self catering apartment just across the road. This actually turned out to be a bonus as if we wanted an early night we were unable to hear the music from the hotel.
During our stay we found the food to be pleasant and there was also a large selection. However I can understand why some people may not like it as after 2 weeks it did become quite similar but there was always something you could eat, unlike people have said. We never found that the food wasn't edible, even if it wasn’t something that we would have usually chosen.
The staff were all friendly, especially Kelly, George and Nikos, and they all did their best to accommodate us. The only thing we feel could have been improved was the amount of entertainment as through the day there was often nothing and at night a lot of the time there was just music playing and this was usually the same CD every night! After 11 you also had to pay for drinks so we found it cheaper to go to the Jolly Rodger next door after this time where you got more for your money.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and would recommend it. If you have booked and are worried I would try to just make the most of it and if you do have a problem explain it to the staff and in our experience they will help to the best of their ability.

I had booked 3 adjoining rooms in my party of 6, and had paid for air conditioning before we left, on arrival the rooms were not together and we had to pay for the air conditioning.
The hotel does not take visa, so I had to pay £210 for this in cash.
We arrived at midnight, and had food waiting for us at the pool bar, when we finished eating we went to our rooms, and my daughter had to be moved straight away, as the room was untidy, smelled and was not cleaned.
My wife realised that she had left her handbag at the pool bar, I went down to get it, and when she looked inside the money had been taken out of her purse, and the mobile phone had also gone.
As we were all-inclusive the barman did not like serving us as he did not get any tips from the all-inclusive people.
Between 10.00am and 6pm Jane and Sabrina would run the bar, these 2 are very hard working, and Sabrina was very funny.
The entertainment man was useless, in our 14 day stay we had a music quiz, a karaoke night and the other 12 nights he sat there and just played his music, and did not speak.
The food was basic, and one night the highlight was fish fingers. If you stay at this hotel which is not 4 star, you will need a car to get out. Sissi bay it self is a pretty harbour with good restaurants and bars. And the Jolly Roger is worth a visit. Avoid this hotel if you can.

Sissi Bay hotel is awesome, none of the people on this site know what they're on about!! They sound a lot like the moaning people there at the same time as me. The food is basic and not very nice so we ate out every night as we're not typical British tourists who have to eat in a place just because IT’S FREE! The room was very nice, no insects and the air conditioning is well worth paying for. The town of Sissi is great with lots of restaurants to choose from and the hotel is in a perfect spot.
The staff at the hotel were the best, Nikos, Kelly, Sebastian Flo and George were great behind the bar. And Med, the DJ is the funniest guy in the world.
We were there for 10 days and enjoyed every minute of it!

This has been the worst holiday ever, anyone who is thinking of going DONT. We had to move rooms three times. Only entertainment is one guy who puts on the same music. Rooms smelt, all inclusive is very minimum. have to vacate room at 12 noon and they take your band off you so then have to pay for everything, even though you have paid for 14 nights and only get 13. Rooms are never cleaned on a Sunday as no cleaners work. The manger is of no help at all and the staff behind reception are rude. the bar staff during the day wont allow you to have a drink unless you take your glasses back, their words they are not there to wait on us. As for the rep she didn’t want to know anything even thought there were 10 of us asking to try and help us to make this holiday a bit better.
Who ever rated this as a 4 star must have been blind. The pool has many broken stones around it and not clear around the pool the depth so very dangerous for children.
This is the first time I have felt I need to share this dreadful experience with others and hope they don’t make the same mistake and go as when you get home you need another holiday as you feel so stressed.

The rooms were clean and simple.
The food was fine and you'll probably put on lots of weight, with only 2 diasappointing meals.
The air con is worth it and a mossie killer for the mossies you always get in Greece. Its a cheap holiday and worth it.
Be polite and the staff are fine, be stroppy and you'll get what you deserve. The guests are german ,dutch , french ,italian aswell as Brits.
The beer and wine are fine, the brandy a bit weak and the ouzo and raki lethal( but fine).
If you have a night flight you can book the room for an extra night for 30 euros to make life easier.
Taxi to and from the airport is 45-50 euro. Aircon is 40-50 euro a week. The entertainment is rubbish , drink more and it will seem better.
The village has some good restaurants and is very picturesque. Be positive and enjoy.
