excellant hotel
went to porec with portland holidays, stayed at the hotel mediteran 13th to 20th may 2008, very good hotel, lovely well kept gardens surround the hotel and very clean inside.we paid app £34 to upgrade our room to pool and sea view it was well worth it. room a good size and great views.cannot fault the meals! (need to loose a few pounds now!) and wine ,beer with evening meal included in price.some food cooked fresh in front of you! drinks a little pricey in hotel bar and just a band played each evening. only 15 minute walk into pretty... more
nice holiday
The hotel was clean and tidy and looked modern, excluding the bathrooms which are in desperate need of a re-vamp. The food was excellent however it was manic in the evenings. The waiters obviously work long hours and very hard however a smile would not have hurt now and again. The drinks in the hotel were expensive especially the soft drinks. approximately £1.70 (170 kunas) for a small coke. To add rum it was just an extra 20p. We only managed to get a sun lounger around the pool when it was raining as towels had been placed on them... more
Great Hotel, good location
Just had a great holiday at the Hotel Mediteran, Porec. We went with Portland Holidays Direct. In our opinion the hotel is far better than the 3-star rating suggests - it is very light and airy with an abundance of public seating areas, an adequate pool area and salt water pools. For anyone preferring the sea it is only a few minutes walk to several paved bathing areas and a small shingle beach, but care must be taken as entry points to the sea are quite slippery in places and the sea bed is rocky. Lots of water sports and children's... more
short stay
Porec pronounced Poresh, As previous trip advisors say it is an above average hotel, food plentiful in a buffet style restaraunt which is clean but showing its age. We stayed three nights as part of a package with a well known British travel company. The rooms vary in size. Ours was at the front and although clean and modern had permanently closed louvres on the outside of the window and heavy curtains so the room was a little darkish. We did have a mini balcony with access door. Generally it was OK. Our friends across the channel... more
Manic and unusual eating experience!!!
We took our meals here H/B whilst renting a self-catering 4* appartment, which I have written a separate review about. The hotel lobby area is big and multi level. the reception staff are helpful - it's like a busy street. Plenty of organised activities for the guests, young and old. They call it "animation"! Music in the evening, a bit old-fashioned, the Germans like to do proper quick-step, rumba and all that. Bring your cash, if you are not resident within the hotel itself, but dining there like we were - they have no flexibility over... more
Very good hotel, fantastic food
We spent nice 2 weeks in this hotel. The room was clean and tidy, but rather small - this is why I also recommend to everybody to add 2 euros per day and take bigger room with sea view. The location of the hotel is perfect - there is something for everybody: swimming pool, rocky beach, "cultivated" rocky beach, sunny rocks, woody shades... The sea was clean and hot - this is the area with a lot of blue flags. Downtown Porec is 15 mins of walk away, and you walk all the time by the sea. The food in the hotel was exceptional, far... more
Nice time in nice hotel
My husband and I live in Bosnia-Herzegovina, so we usually spend at least part of our holiday every year somewhere in Croatia. This is mostly Makarska Riviera, but this year we decided for the first time to go north - to Istria. We found this hotel on the web, and got some recommendation from friends. Hotel is large (300 rooms), and situated in very nice place. It is situated in 'Plava laguna' (Blue lagoon), in the middle of pine forest, 20 minutes walking distance from the town. You can walk to Porec, or use nice touristic train,... more
Satisfied customers
Returned home this week form Porec. We wanted to make a return visit as we visited the area 22 years ago when the country was Yugoslavia and we were pleased to say that we weren't disappointed. The country is still very picturesque and the people very obliging and friendly. As Brits we were definitely in the minority in the hotel which suited us yet our needs were still met and understood. The hotel is very clean and spacious and even our room which slept 3 people was adequate in size. Unfortunately there wasn't any air conditioning which... more
Lovely location just outside Porec town
We recently visited Croatia for the first time and were unsure what to expect. The Hotel Mediteran is bigger than those we normally stay in but it was clean and welcoming, if a little on the 70's side style-wise. Reception staff were really friendly and efficient. We paid extra for a sea view which was well worth the money- the hotel also has lovely grounds extending into a pine forest which shades the walkway running along the shoreline into POREC town - this walk took about 15 mins and was really pleasant. The food at the hotel is buffet... more
Very Friendly
The hotel is situated in a nice spot next to the sea and it is only a five minute walk from the town of Porec. All the staff are friendly and there is a variety of food in the restaurant. The Kids Club is well organised and you can meet many new friends from all over Europe. It can get quite hot at night but leave the balcony door open and you will be ok. Music from the hotel next door stays on untill about 11, but you only notice it when the Hotel Meditearan's local band finish competing with it. There is a large... more
