This 4 star hotel was very disappointing. We had ordered a transfer from the airport that was not there when we got to the airport and that never came, we had to take a taxi, with traffic 1h30 to get to sorrento !! Then the triple room that we had ordered and that was... more

My husband and I sayed at the Conca Park for a week in June and we were not disappointed. The location was excellent and the hotel room was spotless. We had a cliff facing room which was private, quiet and attracted the sun until early evening. In relation to existing... more

Just come back from our first trip to Sorrento. Having read some previous reviews I was very pleasantly surprised by Conca Park. First of all our room was very good - spacious, clean and with plenty of storage space for clothes and all the other stuff you always take on... more

The hotel is situated in an excellent location 10>15 minutes stroll to Piazza Tasso (suggest route via the narrow streets to the North) The tunnel to the hotel is unique, 200 metres up an incline, tiled floor with boutique display windows on either side. Buggy available.... more

We stayed at the Conca Park in June 07 and could not fault the holiday or hotel. True, there is steep tunnel to the hotel but my husband who has walking difficulties never had to wait more than 3 minutes for the buggy manned by very obliging staff to transport him. There... more

I must disagree with some of the comments posted regarding the Conca Park, I found the Hotel to be very nice, the staff friendly and the pool clean. With regards to someone saying that pool was in the shade most of the day, this is not true, there is a very small part of... more

We found Conca Park the ideal base for our touring holiday. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The food in general was good, although the breakfast could be a little strange! The idea of sharing a table with strangers... more

I loved Conca park hotel, it was a stylish hotel and the staff was always friendly. The only disappointing things about the holiday were, the tunnel leading to the hotel which was savage having to walk up that every time. I loved Adolpho, Angelo and Jessepe at the bar, then... more

Not very impressed with Conca Park at all. I think it’s more like a lowly 3* hotel with aspirations of being a 4* really. The majority of the staff (with a few exceptions) were miserable and off handed. The rooms were very basic and unless you had a sea view you are... more

The Conca Park is a large, bland hotel with indifferent food and off-hand service (although some of the staff were friendly). What our brochure didn’t tell us is that the only access to the hotel is up a long, steep tunnel. You have to walk up or wait to be collected in... more

More Traveller Reviews of Conca Park Hotel

Very good hotel, excellent location
I too was a little troubled by some of the recent reviews posted for this hotel. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. My single room had it's own balcony (single travellers often get an internal 'box room'), with modern ensuite shower room. It was well cleaned, with fresh towels and linen every day. The furnishings were basic, but then tour operators definition of 4* is invariably lower than you might expect. I found the safe useful and the fridge handy (although a freezer compartment would have been a bonus). Nice to find the rooms air conditioned, I understand this starts from mid June. Take a travel kettle or element if you want to have drinks in your room. The food was fine; buffet breakfast and at least 3 choices per course at the evening meal. The fish was always lovely. You're seated by waiters for the evening meal and may have to share a table, but hey, that's no big deal - great place to share recommendations. My only gripe, and this isn't exclusive to the Conca Park, is this fashion for charging for the sunbeds - it's like saying yes you've booked Half Board but you have to hire the dining chair! I boycott them on principle, and would much rather be by the sea anyway. Go down to Marina Grande (about 10mins downhill, bus available back if you prefer); 6 Euro and the drinks are far cheaper. Adored Sorrento generally, Fenice restaurant next door is lovely, The Garden Wine Bar on the Corso Italia is lovely to watch the locals parade, extensive range of wines by the bottle or glass. MonnaLisa Cafe on the Via San Cesareo lovely for straight of the beach Peroni or Cappuccino (both seved with lovely nibbles)
Hotel is OK
Despite some of the reviews we found the hotel OK. It is dominated by tour bookings and so you find that breakfast can be hectic with all tours having breakfast at the same time. Definitely book a sea view room ours was excellent with a view of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The food is OK and service is variable depending on the waiter. The bedroom was very clean although we did miss tea making facilities in the room. We found the tunnel access to the town centre as an unusual and much talked about feature. In terms of restaurants we can highly recommend La Fenice which was 250 metres from the tunnel entrance and had great pasta and fish dishes with reasonably priced wines
We need to come back again !!! Nice Hotel & Nice Staff
Its a really nice hotel with a magnificent view but nearby the center !! I ve been on the 6th floor and the room was clean and all comfortable.... We ve been to Amalfi, Ravello & Positano....Italy is a romantic place.... We found reception staff very helpful to give you all information you need..... and the waiters in the restaurant so polite !! We want absolutely come back !!! I don't know why the wright so bad review about this hotel !!!
Worst hotel we stayed in...
The Conca Park is apparantly a Four Star Hotel although it could be said that it shows all the signs of very tired Two Star establishment. While the hotel may appear to be as inviting and luxurious as its four star rating would suggest the truth is sadly not nearly as glamorous. On arrival we were greeted by a slightly brash receptionist who tried to convince us that she was improving our existing booking. We were then ushered through the hotel and up to a double 'attic suite' which looked and smelled more like staff quarters than luxury accomodation (Beware Rooms 145 & 146). Although both rooms had an oversized (dirty) terrace with pool and sea view the interiors were pretty dingy. The cupboards were equipped with out of date air freshners that gave off a rather musty aroma. The bathrooms too were 1960's style and cleanliness left much to be desired. Needless to say we registered a complaint which was greeted with no surprise by the reception staff but no sympathy either. Our three teenage children were moved to a larger but still shoddy room and we were given a tiny but more modern room without balcony or bath. The only meal we ate in the hotel was breakfast which was adequate but certainly far from four star. We were also concerned when we read a sign informing us that it was usual to share tables with other parties at dinner. Luckily Sorrento is full of excellent restaurants. They must have scoured Italy to find such an unfriendly group of staff as our experience of Italian people in general is quite the opposite. The pool which is nice but cold is surrounded by sunbeds and deck chairs with no space between. You will be lucky to find two free deck chairs together as everyone is deterred from using the sunbeds by a EUR 5 per day surcharge. Towels are also subject to a daily charge of EUR 3. The so called 'mini bar' can be used for EUR 15 per week but is not stocked so would be more aptly named a fridge. To use the room safe costs EUR 5 per week. To cap it all, when checking out we ordered a taxi from reception which didn't materialise which turned out to be the fault of the staff who made no apology. All in all the staff treated us as though they were doing us a favour and fobbed us off at every turn. We are frequent travelers and great fans of Italy but can honestly say that this is the worst hotel that we have ever stayed in.
We didn't know about the tunnel!
A large, bland hotel that somehow doesn't quite fulfill the role of a four star. Food was indifferent and service (with two noticeable excpetions) offhand. What we didn't realise is that the only access to the hotel is up a long tiled tunnel with a steep gradient. This is fine if you are young and energetic, but if you're getting on and are weary after a long day out, it can be off putting. The buggy which transports the luggage will give you a lift up to reception, but there's only room for 1 passenger beside the driver, so if you want a lift, you sometimes have to wait. There are also some rather cheeky hidden extras. They charge 15 euros per week (or 20 for 2 weeks) for the 'mini bar'. This is in fact an empty fridge, and you have to pay whether you use it or not. They also make you buy your key to the wall safe if you want to use it. Drinks are also expensive. What with these elements and the Conca Park's strange practice of seating strangers together at the 4-place individual tables in the dining room (in order, presumably to fill the tables up one by one) I must say we were not overly impressed. Sorrento is lovely however, with some stunning views and plenty of good cafes and restaurants. It's a great place to be based while exploring this particular part of Campagnia.
went a while ago but it was brill
when i went to the conca parh hotel i thought it was lovely all the staff were extremely helpful and polite. the pool was different with fountains in the middle of it that were only turned on at night. the rock face at the back of the hotel did block the sun in the later afternoon but get down to the pool at a normal time like 9.30 to 10.30 and you can get a lot of sun and by the time it does go you will have had enough anyway! the bar and restraunt were very wlecoming and homely with lovely food and drink. the rooms were clean and pretty big with a bath/shower and toilet, also a fare sized balcony with lovely views. i went with my parents and they had a rock facing room and there was plenty of light in their room as it was not direcly on the rock!! sorrento its self was a tad hilly but a lovely place to stay with shops upon shops and lots of bars and places to eat and a lovely plcae to walk during the day and in the evening. the beach was a bit poor as it was not sand but stone and was rather small, but a beach is not everything. there are many places to visit such as amalfi, pompeii and mount vesuvius. all in all this holiday was fantastic it is a good place for all ages and very peaceful.
6th Floor Rooms Appalling!!
Upon arriving at the Conca Park Hotel, we were appalled at the type of rooms we were assigned. The tour book rates the rooms as first class, sorry to inform you that these rooms were disgusting. Our sewer backed up in our suite (613) and we had to deal with that nauseating smell the whole time we stayed there. At the base of the toilet bowl there was a crack and when we flushed the toilet a puddle of water was left at the base. Not very sanitary due to Western standards; not to mention; that we needed to be careful not to slip in this mess. It sure would have been nice to have a decent sized shower with a hand held sprayer. We would like to think that our tour company, Globus paided premium rates for these rooms because we paid a premium price and can't believe we would be put in "attic" sized suites! Not the most relaxing scenario!! One advantage: -- the view was good!! Service was adequate -- lobby very impressive -- but a lot of wasted space when considering the peanut sized rooms for tour clients. Kept thinking how great it would be if in this spacious lobby there was a nice coin-operated laundry service -- Tony and Connie Ontario Canada
Stayed in the attic
My wife and I along with 15 others from a Globus grand tour of Italy and Sicily stayed for 5 nights at the Conca Hotel. All of us had 6th floor rooms. There were no balconies and they were very small with limited headroom. It reminded me of Cinderella. The location was okay just off the main street of Sorrento. The breakfast was normal hotel fare and the staff were reasonable in the restaurant. The staff on the front desk were very helpful and should be congratulated for their english. The rooms were a very poor deal for the money that we paid. They would be considered no better than a 2 star motel room in North America. The couple next door had continual problems with a leaking toilet and backup in their floor drain. Anyone that is going to Sorrento to relax and enjoy a small Italian town should rethink their trip. Sorrento isn't very big but it sure is busy and even busier when the cruise ships drop 5-6000 people onto the the already congested streets. A mix of diesel buses and 2 stroke motor scooters make the air a foul mix to breathe. Definetley not the place for someone with asthma or health problems. Shopping is a mix of standard fare and many many bead and junk shops along with lemoncella stands. The public beach is a joke --- about 25 metres in lenth. The majority of beaches are privately owned and charge for admittance. Anyone that believes Positano or Almalfi are any better should have their heads read, they are the same assortment of tourist shops located on a very steep cliff front. the best deal was the slow small ferry back from Almalfi to Sorrento for 7 euro's. I am beginnig to think that our home here in Canada is a steal - quiet - beautiful - lots to do. Dan & Jeanne - Kelowna BC Canada
Mixed feelings.........
My husband and I have just returned from the Conca Park following a week's stay. The hotel is very modern and clean, but in areas (dining room especially) it is quite stark and unwelcoming - and rather cold a/c at times. The one thing that you need to be very careful about is the room you book. Booking a sea view room (and paying the supplement) may only get you a room with a sea view but no balcony. We were fortunate in getting a balcony, but we met many couples who didn't. The rooms at the rear have a sheer rock face and I would imagine to be very dark. The other small problem is that although most of the staff are quite friendly (especially the reception staff), there are one or two (waiting staff) that are rather surly. The bar area in the evening is delightful - with an outside area and candle light - this is probably the hotel's best feature (along with the tunnel !). The swimming pool is kept well, although a bit bare and the sun tends to move behind the rock face at about 1.30/2.00 in the afternoon. There are plenty of deck chairs around the pool, but they do tend to be on top of each other - so if the pool were busy it does become rather 'cosy'. The hotel is in a perfect location; close to the centre but away from the noise of the traffic. All in all, the hotel was quite nice, but would probably choose a different one if I were to return. Hertfordshire.
Stunning Tunnel
My husband and I stayed at the Conca Park Hotel along with 20 other relatives and friends atteding a wedding in Sorrento center in August 2005. We only stayed for one week, but were most impressed with the staff and the Hotel. The food was very nice both in the restaurant and the poolside cafe. The rooms were kept immaculate, and were very modern (the air con was also very good). The tunnel that leads from the front reception to the main reception was absolutely stunning, in fact the entire hotel was of the highest quality, leather sofas and comfy chairs everywhere. The location was also great as it was just a 5 minute walk from the main center of Sorrento. The only downside to this hotel was that the pool area didn't get the sun all day. I would most certainly stay at the Conca Park again. Michelle - Wigan, England
