Just got back from Meridiana after a weeks holiday. Was a bit apprehensive of the hotel as it way cheaper than most others in the area. Though after a weeks break at the hotel I couldn't fault it. OK it doesn't have a pool, which may put some people off, but generally there... more

Although this hotel is in a residential area, it is on a noisy road. It was like trying to sleep on a motorway with the windows open.
The food was not good unless you like veal all the time!!
On the plus side - it was very near the centre and basically clean.

This is one of the cheapest hotels that we found in Sorrento, but its main points are that its very central, very clean and very good staff. Although the road at the side of the hotel gets very busy in the evenings, we had air conditioning (extra charge) and had peaceful... more

Very well situated away from the main streets of Sorrento but only 5-10 minutes walk from the centre.
Rooms were simply furnished and very clean. Food was excellent, plenty of it, good choice on the menu. Staff very helpful and friendly. Could not fault it really - very good value for money!

Best location
Good location on the flat straight into Piazza Tasso. Good sized bright room if decor a little plain. Very helpful desk staff, waiting staff not so helpful. Shower only suitable for very thin people. Good value and plenty of reasonable food. Will appeal to the older person owing to it's central location.
Good clean central hotel
This is a good clean hotel just a few minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento. €90 for a double room including breakfast isn't too bad at all for September in this busy resort. On the cons side, it's a little sparse, refurb carried out but they left the original floors which are [--] and the bathrooms although new, are a little cramped - aside from that every room has a terrace and the staff are great - inspite of the fact that the owner does nothing but bitch at them all the time and then beam at you as if you dont understand italian - mi dispiace cara mia, ma io parlo bene in Italiano e ho capito quello che hai detto a la ragazza a reception mentre fare un sorisa cose bella - :P!!
La Meridiana lovely hotel
Very good hotel. Staff friendly and helpfull. Central position 5 minutes to town centre and station. Bus stop opposite to port. Lovely clean rooms with balconys and views. Very nice uncrowded roof terrace which was always sunny. Very good 4 course dinners and occasional gala nights with music. Mr and Mrs Dolan
Had a fantastic time in a small and friendly hotel
My friend and I stayed from end July to end of August 2007 and had a fantastic time. We had been to Sorrento 6 times over the last 3 years, and found this hotel to be the nicest. We had twin room, which was spacious enough, with a very large balcony overlooking a quiet road and with a sea view. The staff were always more than helpful and very friendly. We did not use the restaurant as we met up with friends to eat, but some guests that we spoke to said that the food was delicious and plenty of it. They did not have a pool, but had a solarium where you could sunbathe, again overlooking the sea. They have a shower so that you can cool down,. It is in an excellent position to walk into either St Agnello (where they have lots of festivals happening, taking about 10-15 mins, and Sorrento town, which took about 5 minutes to the main piazzo tasso, where there are bars and restaurants, and of course lots of shops. Sorrento is a lovely place to see, and I would definately suggest staying at the Meridiana. It is not a 'grand' hotel, but is a very comfortable, clean and friendly place to stay.
Sorrento
I enjoyed my stay in sorrento, the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. It was close to the local ammenities. It was in easy reach from the station and the main road. I would definately go back to this hotel it was good value for money.
Good location, friendly staff, average hotel
My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in August 2007. It is in a great location. About 5 minutes to Sorrento train station and a few more minutes to the town centre. I agree with a previous reviewer's comment that it is close enough to everything without being in the middle of a noisy area. As long as you don't expect a sea view from your room, location is fine. Reception staff were lovely. Maids were attentive, replacing toiletries every day (we have stayed in plenty of similar hotels that don't bother with this). Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was clean, although quite run-down e.g. one of the sliding doors of the bathroom cubicle had a pane of broken glass. Breakfast was basic but adequate. My only complaint about the stay was the noise within the hotel itself. We stayed in room 121, right next to the stairwell and immediately above the breakfast room. We found it hard to sleep in as the noise from the breakfast room carried very well to our room! Overall, our stay was pleasant. It is a decent hotel, if you aren't expecting anything fancy. Given the average quality, I found it a bit expensive. However, I got the impression that Sorrento, being such a resort town, is quite expensive in general, so not really a place to be expecting value-for-money hotels.
sleepless nights
Food was excellent.Staff were friendly and helpful .Room and shower were well worn ,in need of refurbishment.Lots of traffic noise at night. Overall it was good value
Exceeded expectations
First time to Sorrento so always a gamble with hotels and location but all turned out well for us. The location was at the north end of the town about 2 minutes to the main strip. So quite convenient but just far enough away to avoid traffic and noise. Hotel was clean and tidy and you could not find fault with any of the staff. Courteous and helpful and patient with us no matter what. We were half board and I have to say the selection of food was not wide but they do try to suit all palates. But be careful... portions can be quite large. Bedrooms quite nice, bathroom a little tired but was kept clean. No fridge and you are recommended to use bottled water. We paid 2. Euros for 6 x 2 litre bottles in the town. There is a small supermarket 10 minutes walk away on the main road. We were on the 5th floor overlooking the pool of the next hotel and it was noisy on a couple of nights but nothing too annoying. Air conditioning is available at 10 Euros a day but not switched on until 2:00pm. Lots of useful advice for exploring by train/bus, all on time I have to say. In fact hotel is 10-15 minutes from the train station and bus terminal both in the same place). Cost us 3 Euro for a day train ticket and we visited Vesuvias and Heculeneum in one day. Herculeneum is about 15 minute walk from the train station and 16 Euros gets you a minibus up Vesuvius and this is just outside the station. And theyt give you about 90 minutes to walk up/around/down before taking you back to the station, spot of lunch and stroll to Herculenium. Which I have to say I preferred to Pompeii ( a 4 Euro train ticket from Sorrento and the entrance is alongside the Pompeii station) . All this is much less expensive than the organised excursion offered by the tour companies and the hotel staff can offer advice if you are a little nervous. Bit of a walk (up/down stairs) to the ferry port ( about 20 minutes) but worth if for the Amalfi cruises and visiting Capri and also the less touristy Isle of Ishae (spelling may be wrong, it's off the coast of Naples). And there is a very interesting old hous across the road from the hotel which is worth a look. I can't say the same for the adjacent lemo grove though. And finally, If the hotel had a pool we would not have had time to use it. See you again Sorrento and Le Meridian for sure. What a beuatiful place
pleasant surprise
excellent location easy, short walk from train and all other amentities without being in the middle of activity.Very friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff ( day and night) - english speaking. Fantastic roof area ( solarium ) over looking the bay- great for sharing a bottle of wine and nibbles watching the sunset and late night fireworks. Rooms basic but comfortable and bathroom needs a little bit of maintance but not unbearable. Resturant staff / Breakfast very pleasant. They even prepared us with a breakfast bag for an early morning transfer to Naples ( 4.30am). Would stay here again We felt very safe walking back to the hotel very late at night it is and next to police station.Parking available if you had a car . Looked at lots of options on the Almafi Coast. Spent a day visiting areas along the coast. Diffinately glad we selected sorrento as our base for 3 days to explore the area. Night life tterrific, young adult daughters loved it!, lots of great resturants to choose from
Lovely Hotel!
I’ve been staying at the hotel la meridiana in july, for the two middle weeks, and I have to say I am glad I chose to stay there. I can surely say the hotel is clean and has an excellent price considering its high quality. Plus, the staff members have always been very kind and helpful to us. I really recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Sorrento.
