More Traveller Reviews of Mythos Apartments

The Mythos has three blocks of apartments around a very nice pool and gardens. One block has nine two-bed apartments, which have north facing shady balconies, overlooking the pool. One block has eighteen, one bed apartments, which have balconies with a side sea view (see Oct08 photos) and one block that has twelve, one-bedroom apartments with south facing sunny balconies overlooking the pool (see Steviereds photos). There were three in our party and we booked a two-bed apartment for the half-term holidays 24 to 31 October 2008 - the very last week of the season. Unfortunately we were allocated apartment 7, which is one of the three apartments that have balconies adjacent to and below the main walkway around the pool, so we asked to be moved. Because we had paid a supplement and there was another room available the staff were happy to accommodate us. I would come here again because the weather, resort and restaurants were fantastic and the accommodation, staff and cleanliness was also very good. I would want to book an apartment in the block numbered 31 – 42, which have sunny balconies or request a sea-view room, like the one we moved into that has a balcony with sunshine in the morning. I would pack extra mosquito protection, as our only complaint was that we seemed to be 'the main course' for midges on a regular basis.
Excellent accomodation, pool and bar areas
from Caralan2006
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the apartments, they are fronted by the Vasillis Restaurant which is one of the more popular restaurants in Tigaki and was always busy. The reception area and bar are very tastefully decorated and looked as if they had just been refurbished, the pool area was spotlessly clean with lots of sunbeds which were always available, the apartments were spacious and clean with clean linen and towels several times a week although the apartments were cleaned daily. The staff were helpful and very pleasant and the pool side snacks were excellent. You have the best of both worlds in Tigaki as it is quite rural with lots of animals on your doorstep (cows the other side of your balcony in fact) and the apartments are 2 minutes away from a super blue flag beach it is also very central and surprisingly very quiet in the day and at night. The only thing to beware of are the mosquitos as they are quite nasty.
Relaxing and reviving
from Rallykat
Very relaxing holiday to be had at these clean, modern, friendly, family run appartments. Rooms very spacious and well equiped. We were situated on the second floor with views to the rear of the complex, looking out towards Turkey. (didn't fancy one of the ground floor studios as they are below the level of the pool / walkway with passers by noseying in) George (Yorgos) the owner and Bill (Vasilias) resident Barman were great fun and very friendly, encouraging the blokes to partake of some strange coloured drinks and handing out free "hot shots" every half hour. Vasilias restsraunt attached to the complex is out of the world, we went back 4 times during our fortnight as the food was so good. Try the secret family recipie Chicken Saganaki - no where else in Greece does this! Australian bar on the beach front is great for a chin wag and a game of pool with the owner...mind you when the temperature gets too hot he shuts up shop and orders everyone into the sea too cool off before having an ice cold Mythos Beer! Supermarket a fair trek in the heat..I reccommend the wee one down on beach road...much better. Hired a Jeep and saw the rest of the isle over 3 days...what a beautiful place... a real must is Kos old town and also sunset up the mountain at Zia. don't go on an organised trip as they only appear to stop at a restaraunt/show bar half way up the mountain...you really need to go to the vilage at the top to appreciate it. Tingaki a very laid back relaxed and safe place. George stays on site during the season and patrols the complex at night with his big dopey German Shepard. The pool is cleaned and chlorinated every night by the night porter. My Dad always advised go where the locals go...all the staff bring their family to the pool and restaraunt so it must be good.
Loved the hotel and resort
from Samantha019
Stayed at the Mythos the last week of June and loved it. We have travelled around Greece a lot and this was the best quality accommodation we have found whilst still being in the centre of the action. Good points - excellent clean modern accommodation, warm pool which was not too crowded, beach is sandtyand sea is quite shallow and you can wade out quite far, try the bakery opposite the hotel and slightly to the left for lovely fresh baked bread, pies and pizza. The restaurant attached to the hotel - Vasillis was the best restaurant in the resort - shame we waited until the last night to go there. Also worth trying Tigaki Restaurant on the beach front by the bus stop and Memories for cocktails/ Get the bus to Kos Town (about 20 mins) and have a potter around the old town - the bus coming back left on time - a first in Greece! Book the trip to Bodrum its well worth the money & there is plenty to do even if you don't fancy shopping - change a bit of money to Turkish lire though as not all places take Euro. There is a bar I can't remember the name of down one of the side streets which has an excellent view of the sunset if you go up onto the roof - well worth a visit. Bad points - the Thomas Cook reps were terrible - didn't see them all week and then they virtually begged people to give them a high score on the surveys on the way to the airport so they got a contract the next year. Lots of mosquitoes - be prepared! Mascots Bar - like Wetherspoons on a Friday night. If you like karaoke and blue cocktails its the one for you. After the quiet of Tigaki the beach in Kos is a bit of a shock - like Magaluf in August? A few people on this site have mentioned the cash point - there is only one and it was empty a couple of times but it is filled again next day - just don't wait until the last minute to get cash. We booked our trip with Tigaki Tours by the supermarket and had no problems with them - apart from the guide trying to get us to bring back cigarettes from Turkey for the boat staff! Not that much to keep kids entertained but if you are looking for a relaxing break then this will suit you fine.
Excellent

Apartments very clean, Lovely pool area and bar. Staff where very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you. Ideal location close to beach, shops and restaurant. Although their own restaurant was excellent and you get 10% discount if you eat there. The barman on the afternoon - I think his name was Strados - makes the most gorgeous pina coladas I have ever had. Went with Thomas Cook and their rep Jason was excellent aswell. Had a totally gorgeous relaxing holiday and our 8 year old son loved it aswell. Beware of the mozzies small but aggressive.
Almost excellent

We were in apartment 20 which is on the top (3rd) floor. First impression was that it was obviously just painted, very clean and bright. It had two bedooms plus kitchen and bathroom (although only two of us so one bedroom wasted). TV had only Sky News or - believe it or not - the God Channel. Double size balcony overlooking the pool. Yes, kitchen equipment sparse with only kettle and two cooking rings but who cares? Who self caters anyway? Air Con can be purchased at 6 euros a day. The only thing that let the apartment down was discovered on our first night when we opened the bed up. Sheets were very badly stained, to the extent that we didnt want to sleep on them. We showed the maid the next day and she reluctantly changed them. However, throughout the week all sheets were variously stained or full of holes. Shame really, this was the only reason I can't give it 5 stars. Surely a needless skimp. The pool is clean and there are numerous sunbeds around it and on the grass nearby. I counted 80. Pool Bar is no more expensive than bars outside - 3 Euros for a beer. Staff are without exception friendly and helpful. Their Taverna, Vassillis, is brilliant. Waiters including Costas and Vangelis excellent and like to chat. Food not cheap but worth every penny. Average cost for main course for two with drinks was around 22 Euros. Some dishes much more expensive. Absolutely no complaints about standard of food. Always lovely. Tigaki itself is a nice resort with loads of supermarkets, shops and bars. Beach is nice with lots of sunbeds at 6 Euros for two beds with parasols. Water is very shallow. You can walk out 100 yards and still only be up to your waist. Can be windy here so sometimes sea is a bit rough. Only book trips or cars through the Rep if you want to pay over the odds. There a 2 Excursion and Car Hire places on the strip and both are good and cheaper. We hired a Jimny 4+4 for 35 Euros a day from Tigaki Express. 5 Euros cheaper than a basic car from the Rep. Island is small and you can drive around stopping regularly and still see it all in 2/3 days. Paradise beach is nice especially when it is windy in Tigaki as it is on the other side of the island so will be calm. I would definitley visit Kos and Tigaki again and definitely recommend it. Mytho Apartments ( apart from the sheets ) are definitely above the usual standard for Greece.

Excellent at the Mythos
from patrickjohn
We hit on a fortnight of wonderful weather and found the Mythos Apartments friendly, clean, and quiet. The pool was fine, the food at Vasilis (which is their own restaurant) excellent. The golden, fine sand beach is a short walk along the main street. The seawater here is warm and shallow. If you walk for a mile you come to the dunes by the salt lake where you can sunbathe as nature intended if you wish. All in all a great place to stay especially if you are on a budget.
Just the Facts
from neil-in-black
Just the facts for you, not opinion. The Mythos apartments are on the main street of Tingaki. They are very close to the centre of the night-life. i.e Disco bars. However Mythos are set back behind a Taverna, so no noise problems during our stay. No problem getting a poolside sunlounger, but beach is so good most guests went there instead as it is no more than 2 min walk to the beach. Pool bar which did have some life, and pool table and a couple of other games machines. As mentioned by others, the kitchen equipment and crockery etc. is very minimal. The living area in our apartment for two was tiny just a small table to eat at. The bathroom was very clean and modern with a bath and a shower curtain. Bedroom was usual layout with large built in wardrobe with a safe. All windows had Mozzie nets on them, so could be left open, although not secure in this state. Aircon unit in bedroom was not used for our stay. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Bus stop 2 mins walk away for Kos Town. Small supermarkets across road. Large Hypermarket about 10' walk at far end of town, prices a little cheaper there. Lots of eating places in Tingaki mostly of the Taverna variety.
Loved it.

A group of eight travelled to the mythos apartments to celebrate a 50th birthday. What a gem I had found, the fact that we had only paid £362 per couple we were'nt expecting to much. When we arrived we were over joyed, the pool area was lovely and clean and looked like it had just been renovated there were also plenty of sunbeds available. On entering are room we were delighted as it was brand new it had a small kicthen with table and chairs and also a sofa which I presume was a sofa bed, off there was a smart but small bathroom then you had the seperate bedroom which looked out on to the pool. The Apartments had a friendly bar which had a tv for all the sports etc. They also had started quiz nights and bbq nights etc. Attached at the front of the Mythos was the restaurant were you could get a good english breakfast for just under 5 euro. We also had a couple of evening meals here and they were one of the best we had had. The service was great and so was the price. The location was brilliant just walked out of the apartments and staight on to the main strip were you had all the bars, shops and retaurants. Though you in the centre it was still very quite. The beach was a mere 100metres away and was lovely and sandy with shallow waters and views over to Turkey and surrounding greek islands. There are plenty of trips to book in the resort and a lot of tourists hire cycles as it is flat so easy to get around. The bus is near to the apartments and run frequently to Kos town which i would throughly recommend. I loved these appartments and Kos and would definitely return.
Just returned from a two week stay at this beautiful resort, just quietening down coming to end of season. Mythos is family run exclusively Thomson property, behind the Taverna Vassilis, on the main street and a 2 minute walk from a stunning beach. Apartments vary in shape... more
