Try and keep me away!

Just returned from a two week stay at this beautiful resort, just quietening down coming to end of season. Mythos is family run exclusively Thomson property, behind the Taverna Vassilis, on the main street and a 2 minute walk from a stunning beach. Apartments vary in shape and capacity. We had a 2 bed apartment-Rooms 7,8,9 are pool edge and below ground level and we had one of these. Not much privacy, proximity to bar/disco next door makes for lot of late There were sunbeds and a bar table directly outside ours, so curtains had to remain closed to preserve modesty and privacy as all could see in. It also made it quite noisy at night due to the proximity of the bar and the disco next door which thumped away most nights til 2am at least..
The apartment was comfortable and spacious, spotlessly clean. 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a small kitchen/eating area. Cooking facilities limited to 2 ring hob, no toaster, microwave. One pot, one frying pan, fridge. Not suitable to try and feed a family with. We did manage to make Welshcakes on the large ring much to the delight and wonder of all the staff who were given free samples!!
Aircon charged locally, 6 euros/day. Television in both rooms but channels very limited (despite an enormous sky dish)CNN, BBC world news, 2 music channels and several German ones!
There are far more positive aspects than negative! The owner George and his staff are second to none, and cannot do enough for you (esp after welshcakes!) Genuine, friendly people every one, even after long hours and busy shifts.Helen, George's mum who mans reception is a lovely quietly spoken lady.
Tigaki offers so much choice for eating out, although half board / evening meal breakfast deals at the Mythos Taverna Vassilis are available (and the food is soo good!). Average price for meal for 2 including bread and a drink 15 - 20Euro. The local supermarkets provided not too expensive basics.
Anne, the Thomson holiday advisor was always there when she should have been. The excursions were pretty expensive via Thomson, we booked up 3 at Theo's travel agent across the road, a 3 island cruise, Kos tour and a brilliant Greek Night for 90Euros and had a visit to the Thermal springs worth 10euros thrown in as a freebie. We saved 40 euros each! And regular buses run to Kos town for 2 euro each way. A must to see is the Plane tree of Hippocrates, the Aslepion, the old market and the beautiful harbour.
As previously mentioned, the beach is minutes away. Sunbed hire is 6 euros for 2 and an umbrella/day. Poolside there are plenty of beds umbrellas, and the pool is chemically checked every couple of hours.
Just another downside - there is a salt lake in Tigaki which mans that mozzies are a problem. Most people were bitten despite plug ins, 'jungle juice' etc.
I'd highly recommend Tigaki, and even more highly the Mythos. Its suitable for all ages (although a lack of lifts for persons with infirmaties could be a minus) I will certainly be going back....

We have just returned after 2 weeks at Mythos apartments. We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday, lots of fun with lots to do. The staff are extremely friendly and made our stay fun. The facilities are top class with spotless rooms and and wonderful pool. Great location for eating out and visiting the beach. Loved the hub of the bar with music all day and into night and met lots of smashing people. Definitely want to return.

  • Advice: don't plan to cook in the room as basic self catering facilities.

The appartment and it's staff are first class, the pool is excellent.
We ate every evening in the Taverna attached to the Appartments Vassilis the food and service was the best i have ever had.
I would recomend going half board as there is no time restrictions.
The only thing i would avoid next time is booking trips through the rep's as they are well over priced and there is plenty off booking agency along the main road.

  • Advice: Tingaki is a brilliant town, we have already booked again for this year.
  • Activities: Vassilis is the best taverna in town

Hi myself and my husband took our 2 boys while my parents took our 2 girls to the mythos apt's we all had a really fantastic time the weather was hot and the staff were very friendly...we were self catering but there were several resturants to eat at,we found the food lovely and not a bad meal anywhere,it was a quite town with ample shops bars and resterants..the beach was beatiful and the local people were so nice,
The apartments were great we had a large double room at the end with a nice size bathroom with over the bath shower...thee only thing i wasn't to keen on was the childrens bunk beds were slap bang in the courner of the kitchen next to our table and chairs, so not much room in the kitchen area..also we had no window in the kitchen so it was alittle dark at times. The cleaners always made a fuss of the kiddies and so did the bar staff..the food and drink at thee apt's were excellent as the front of thee apt's had it's on resterant so we didn't really have to go to far....
My parents room however was great they had 2 bedrooms separate to there kitchen one double and one twin with single beds and yes very bright with a window in there kitchen.... a good size bathroom and kitchen also,i think my parents room should of been ours ha ha joking aside the holiday was excellent and we all would return again without a doubt the only thing is were expecting baby number 5 in july so i dont think we'll all fit in!!!!
The mythos apt's were alround fantasic and well worth what we all payed Superb!!!!!
WE ALL HOPE TO RETURN AGAIN SOON MANY THANKS THE EDWARDS BROOD!!!!

  • Advice: excellent family holiday with lovely locals a fantastic beach and great food and drink. 10/10

Mythos apartments are ideally located...

Mythos apartments are ideally located very close to the beach and with all amenities on your doorstep, but there is no problem with noise as you are set back from the road and Tingaki is pretty quiet anyway. Points lost because the toilet bin wasn't emptied every day, which was a bit grim, and there was only one channel on the telly - Sky News. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. However, cooking in the tiny kitchenette was a logistical nightmare! You're better off eating out, it's cheap enough and the food is fresh and tasty.
I found the staff at Mythos courteous and helpful rather than friendly, as other reviewers have said. Great holiday overall, you can go on loads of trips and Kos Town is just a short bus ride away, the scenery and beach are fabulous, and the locals are lovely. I can't wait to go back.

Fantastic complex, ideal for people...

Fantastic complex, ideal for people who want a quiet base with ease to a lively evening (Kos town) plenty of bars and restaurants within a stone’s throw.
The restaurant on site is fab, great food and reduction for complex guests. lovely patio area around the pool, which can get a bit busy during school holidays with kids, but would not let that put you off.
A couple minutes walk to the fab beach, has a constant breeze which is great on those hot days. the views from the beach is stunning, overlooks Turkey and look towards the town and you get views of the town and the mountains.
Ideal resort to get into Kos Town, buses run throughout the day approx 1.5euros each way or 12 Euros in a taxi. the harbour in Kos Town is big and the sunsets are amazing -well worth a visit early evening.
Loads of excursions from Tingaki- boat trips, Turkey, Island Tour etc all good value for money.
Really clean accommodation, great staff - family run, would def go back again !!

We 1st visited the Mythos apartments in May 2005 on a 'late deal'.
My partner and I had such a fantastic time, we returned in May 2006 and are on our way back with 8 members of our family and friends in May 2007. Sound a bit boring?
My partner is self-employed so we only get 1 week’s holiday, we just know our week at the Mythos will be enjoyable and relaxing.
I too cannot praise George and his staff enough, and all of the bars and restaurants close by are fantastic. It really is a fantastic resort and am now getting excited about my 3rd trip back! - The extension sounds interesting.
I would recommend using the travel shop opposite the apartments as they are by far cheaper than the tour operators and just as well organised.
Hiring a quad from Nikos is also reasonable and really enjoyable - I think last year we toured the whole island on a quad bike - gives a fantastic insight to the island and a great tan!
Just as someone else has mentioned - if you are thinking about booking STOP hesitating and DO IT!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. I agree with everyone’s comments on here, and will definitely be returning to Mythos apartments again.
Hope bill decides to stay; he made our holiday even more enjoyable with his party tricks etc.

Tingaki is the perfect resort for all families, the beach is so near and the water warm and clear. Donuts and fresh fruit daily from the locals.
The choice of food is excellent, you've no need to go elsewhere.

A fabulous holiday we had staying at...

A fabulous holiday we had staying at the Mythos apartments, George the manager and his staff cannot do enough for you from start to finish. The apartments were clean, spacious and ideally situated close to the wonderful clean beach with its white sand and clear sea which is very safe for bathing, you can walk out about three hundred yards and still have your shoulders above the water.
Back to the apartments one drawback was the very meagre self catering facilities, ie-No toasters or micros just a hob which took an age for warming up, but then you don’t need to cook when you’ve got the great restaurant attached to your complex which seems to attract tourists from everywhere to come and eat in the evenings. Freshly cooked and served with smiling faces, a great atmosphere and great tasting variety of foods. A maid service cleans your rooms six times a week with fresh bed linen twice.
A reasonable sized pool with around 50 sun beds and a kiddies pool. A bar which serves snacks through the day is also available to you. The apartments are on a main street with many shops of all types and also several supermarkets. George has had a new extension built which should open in the 2007 season which will sleep parties of six where also there will be a gym and Jacuzzi, he's also planning to widen the pool and have a separate kiddies pool with more room for everything.
We visited Kos town while we were there, looking around the old ruins (castle) hypocrites tree, and museum and harbour, a good day out. I for one would highly recommend this place to stay for a great holiday and enjoyable experience, and on the day of our departure I asked a few of the new arrivals had they been here before in which they had which I can I say I will be doing for certain next year.

Superb place to stay, highly recommended. George the owner and all his staff make you feel very welcome and do everything to please and make your holiday a great one. The restaurant attached to the complex is very popular and people from all over the resort come there to eat. Freshly cooked meals and smiling faces make it very enjoyable place to dine. The pool is not a large one but is kept clean and around fifty sunloungers surround the pool so threes no fight to get one! The cleaning staff do a good job, and call every day except Sunday. One drawback was that the self catering facilities were a bit meagre, i.e. no toaster or microwave, but then with the lovely food in the restaurant there’s no worry there. George has a new attachment been built there which will sleep parties of six, also there will be a Jacuzzi and gym so I am told, with pool being extended. All in all a fab holiday there and we will definitely visit again. Five stars come from me, great place.
