Rethymno Mare Hotel

Friendly but not well-trained reception, very clean place, nice rooms although baths are old and a few things do not work properly, the pools although simple they are very ergonomic (they are of decent length so you can swim properly). Food: Typical middle-level hotel food, once is enough! Service is ok. I suggest you eat once at the hotel and then just forget that you have paid for it and head for the nice little tavernas around Rethymno... Since it is build on a hill expect a lot of stairs, which can be good if you want to loose weight, or bad if you don't like extreme sports! A last note: if it is windy then you have a problem. There are no protected places where you can sit and have a drink, unless if you sit inside. The balconies and the nearby beach are also of no use when it gets windy. This particular beach is absolutely horrible anyway. Conclusion: This hotel is very far from 5 stars, if it was 4 stars it would be adequate.
