We always wanted to leave Europe and head out to a place which would enable us to not only have fun and enjoy ourselves, but in addition relax and make use of the facilities and become introduced to a new culture.
After having made numerous decisions we decided to finally opt for Dubai, and fell in love straight away with the pictures we saw on a particular hotel (which happens to be the Kempinski Hotel!) We were amazed at the hotel itself, it was clean, very well maintained and the cheerful and helpful staff gave a more definite reason for being content with our choice. Our room was constantly changed in the morning as we went out for our morning breakfast, with fresh toiletries, bed sheets, and the whole lot.
The unbearable weather implied that the air conditioning became an asset to one of the rooms features, and left the room nice and fresh. In addition the swimming pool had an added feature which allowed the water to be cooled, to ensure that we were kept cool throughout the blistering sun. The private beach meant that we were pretty much isolated from other tourists/people, where in general there were no more than at least (without exaggeration) 12 people throughout the stretch of beach, hence the relaxation.
We would truly recommend this hotel to anyone planning on visiting Dubai. You could not be located in a better place: airport 1/2 hour way and shopping centers near by. Its truly a must!

Just spent 6 nights at Kempinksi in Ajman
Our experience was bad.
Hotel average.
Location of beach area is nice.
Food and drink expensive and a 20% charge is added to your bill - 15% local government tax and 5% service charge.
The hotel is undergoing refurbishment so first floor was out of bounds. Only area to drink on an evening is Sports Bar (very smokey) and Cosmic Bowling an area for families to play games to include ten pin bowling.
This area is full of woman in groups which are not shy in approaching the gentleman in this bar.
We were approached twice during our stay and on our last night a lady knocked at our room door late at night and handed my partner a mobile phone asking if it was his telephone number.
We have taken this up with the hotel who claim the woman to be a drunken/dis-orientated guest!! Nice. However the locals in the Cosmic Bowling tell a very different story.
Each corner of the bars have a security guard - which is initimidating.
The hotel is very defensive about our complaint. If you stay at this hotel and have negative feedback then its probably not worth mentioning it - they are not interested - too big an ego to worry about customers commits.
As a "guesture" hotel has offered us 2 nights free accommodation in any of their UAE hotels - which we declind - not our idea of a holiday.
We would peronally not re-visit Kempinski in Ajman for reasons mentioned above.
