Not a 4 star hotel
from Lug-hedge
Booked at the last minute it was sold to us a 4 star all inclusive. The thing they don't tell you is that it is sandwiched between the main east west road and the old Rethymnon Road, and it isn't actually in the Town but in a resort area 30 minutes on the cheap and frequent bus away (1.10 euro each way - tickets from the shops). The staff were friendly and helpful and all seemed to speak english... not so useful for the large number of Russians and Flemish Belgiums there when we stayed. The public areas were about upto a...

Orion Hotel - no problems but basic
from Jackbee
I have just returned from a week long holiday at the Orion, travelling with my husband and eight year old son. Not one of us got a single mosquito bite, although we did see bite marks on other guests. I also did not see any cockroaches anywhere within the hotel, and found the hotel to be very clean - including the pool. The staff were all very friendly, and the bedding and towels were changed every day. The food was boring, but the cocktails were delicious! There was usually pasta and a choice of sauces available, and fresh grapes and...

The children could not eat inside the restaurant.
from Traceypl
We booked what we thought would be a 4star all inc holiday, however the hotel is more a 3star and the food is not rateable at all as it was too disgusting to eat. Rabbit, veal and fish with bones are not for young children and there was no alternative. Also there were cockroaches in the dining room and the staff were just stamping on them, they were climbing all over the tables and chairs. There was no apology or explanation for this. The pool was fantastic, the pool bar was ok, there were a couple of friendly staff. The snack...

If you are looking for a 4 * All inclusive holiday , with a Beautiful large swimming pool area and nice rooms with a nice view and don't forget good food to eat everyday with a good selection , then DON'T book this hotel . Me and my friend booked this hotel and got totally the wrong impression by looking at their website. They made the hotel look amazing , but when we got there it was nothing like the pictures on the internet it was NOT a 4* more like a 3* standard . There was not a large swimming pool, the rooms where...

You will definitely enjoy your holiday there despite everything
from Lyudkin
First, best regards to people who stayed in this hotel in August 2006! There are many things that you might dislike in this hotel incl. roads from the both sides, mosquitos, food selection... Still I would rate my personal experience there as above average. The latest review was all true so I don't really want to be redundant. If you want a real 5 star hotel book the one across the road. But is it really worth paying EUR1500+ extra?! I think no. All inclusive cocktails make life much easier and people more tolerant. This...

Mosquitos
from PowerPlant53
We booked this hotel one week before hand after reading the two reviews on this site. The reviews warned of the mosquito’s, but we didn't realise just how bad they were! We went prepared with lotions and sprays, yet I was bitten over 40 times and my husband over 70 times in the week we were there! To be fair, we also got some in the town and the airport. The hotel was clean. Staff were friendly. Towels and bed linen were changed every day. BUT it is not a 4* hotel. It may have been when it was built, but it is now in dire need of...

The Orion Hotel
from Hawkins_Family
My family and I have just returned from 7 excellent nights at the Orion Hotel, all inclusive. As with all things though there are some things I believe any future visitor should be aware of that are not mentioned by the travel agents: - 1. The Hotel is positioned between the Old and New Road. Both can be very busy. 2. The Beach is only 200m's away. But you have to cross the Old Road, which can get busy, walk along the road and then between the beech front hotels to then get to the beach. 3. Insist on a Garden Room, if you...

from jordash
I stayed at the orion hotel with my family on the 18 July 2006 till 1 August. The mananger told use the hotel was a 4 star the brochure told use it was 3 star superior but i would not rate it a 2 star. If you are thinking about staying here the hotel not bad its basic the pool is ok but it states two pools only one had water in it, the food is just horriable its raw no choice they use the left overs the next meal time it was cold, they dont lable any of the food so you dont know what you are eating. As for your sweets the only choice you...

Wonderful little hotel
from john1chaplin
We have just returned from 11 brilliant nights at this little hotel. We couldn't have asked for much more. The Staff were the most friendly and helpful you could wish to meet. There was a very good variety of food to choose from. The hotel itself was clean and tidy. The swimming pool was lovely and clean, as were the surrounding gardens. I must admit the only downfall to our entire holiday was the mosquitos. So be warned! The Hotel Orion is in a very good location, as all the shops, supermarkets bars are right down the road....

Lovely hotel near the beach
from MDTyKe
We got this hotel at a discount rate in a local paper. At first we were a bit sceptical but once we found the website we were impressed from the beginning. We stayed in the 'Orion Prince Apartments' side of it. The location was great. Just across the road, and down a few steps was a beautiful 7-mile long sandy beach. Really was beautiful! There are plenty of shops and bars right beside the hotel.. you can walk for about 1-2miles of just pure shops and bars.. so you won't get stuck in the middle of no-where compared to some of the...

Very good not very big, cosy hotel. The staff are very friendly and the chef knows his work really well.
Very nice place to take off from your everyday life for a week or two and just have time for yourself.
Everything is good and more than expected. Recommend it to couples, families with children and to everybody!
