I have to say that we read the reviews and were a little concerned especially as both my children (4 and 8) and I are pretty fussy eaters. Don't worry yourself though as we decided it was the best Hotel we've ever stayed at!!! There are two Hotels basically on a site. ... more

Room was nice, with a brilliant view. Ask for Sea View room as the other rooms look out onto a busy main road. Dassia is a fairly quiet town although has everything you need - Few bars, places to eat lunch, car hire, supermarkets etc. Brilliant Olive Wood gift shop where... more

Overall a nice hotel. Rooms are nice but nothing special. The food was lovely and they always had fantastic choice. The pool area was nice although the sun beds by the pool were the only free ones so it was difficult to get one. The gardens and beach were also superb and... more

Excellent hotel, very clean and laid back. Can not fault the food. The only down side is the lack of sun beds around the pool. Would definately go back.

Great hotel, fantastic grounds and beach (didn't like having to pay for sun beds though). Food was fantastic, lots of choice. Swimming pool a bit crowded and not enough sun beds. Loads to do in the day if you didn’t want to be a beach-potato, sports, competitions, all... more

Big Dissapointment
Well, what can I say, we chose this hotel for our honey moon but apart from rip off prices and very questionable 4 star reputation, this hotel was a HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT and didn't give us any value for the money!!!! Also, please make sure not to make the same mistake we did, do NOT LOOK at the PHOTOS of the NEXT DOOR CORFU CHANDRIS because this is 5 star surrounding and you are up for a huge dissapointment when it comes to accomodation in DASSIA CHANDRIS which is more like 2-3 star and not high 4 star and even 5 star as self-rated by the hotel. And the FOOD-The buffet is more like a PRISON CANTEEN with the same food recycled endlessly, carbonated meat balls and frozen vegetables from the pack selection(not to mention that there is only 1 ICE CREAM SPOON and 1 WATER BOWL to serve 4 flavors so you end up with discusiting pond to stick in the spoon if you want to put another flavor)! SERVICE-RUBBISH!!!!! The mini bar was not refilled for 5 days and when we asked 3 times to put some water in, we were shifted from cleaning lady to the reception and manager like it was our responsibility in the first place to check out on the mini bar! In the end they placed 2 large bottles in the room which could not fit the fridge and tried to charge us 4,8 EUR each!!!!! (the normal prices is about 1 EUR in the shop for the big bottle). Every service in the hotel is a rip off-espresso 3 EUR where every else it is from 1-1,5 EUR and so on. On the bright side, the only good thing was the beach, which was advertised as PRIVATE, but still we had to pay for the sunbeds 3 EUR each and we had our towel stolen by some guest/outsider !!!!!! SO if you are coming to CORFU, it is better to get a bed and breakfast in one of the smaller motels-45 EUR per room and rent a car and find your own beaches/places to dine out! Great view
Just arrived back home after staying at the Dassia Chandris Hotel, it is a great hotel, very clean and modern looking. The staff are extremely attentive and polite and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are well fitted out with nice decor and the sheets and towels are changed everyday. The bathroom had a large bath with shower and the wash basin had a large area for all your bits and pieces ,with complimentary shampoos, bath form and body lotion which were replaced when used. Inside the room was a safe deposit box free of charge [a first for me] , our room which over looked the pool and the sea had outstanding views of the mountains and the bay. The gardens that ran down to the beach were beautiful and well maintained. Having been on a cruise ship the week before where we had excellent food the food in the hotel was very good and varied, overall a great hotel.
Noisy road next to it
If you book this hotel, ask for a sea view room - it's worth every penny as the non-sea views are next to Corfu's racetrack. It's difficult to cross the road..... and not for anyone slow on their feet. If you dislike noise, take earplugs. Otherwise the hotel is the average 3/4 star holiday hotel, smallish rooms, little hanging space, the usual brown carpet, take your own hairdryer. Food plentiful but if you want sliced meat you will have to fight the chef for more than one slice. Head waiter very good, hotel receptionists from -1 to 10/10. Beach is excellent and if you go to dinner early, can look over the sea to mountains from dining area. Swimming pool - teenage boy gangs. And one of us got a ear infection. Doctor opposite very good. Would we go again? No. Road too busy and pool problems.
Nice Hotel But!!
2weeks in the Dassia Chandis nice hotel, good food , rooms / hotel spotless, Gardens / Beach not very clean , sunbeds at 3 euro,s a day hotel prices for drinks / food extortion the reps did warn us at the meet us !!!, not much to Dassia few bars , tacky shops / supermarkets , Corfu town 30 mins on local bus very busy but worth a visit , lots to see round the island not too clever by car , suggest Island tour Avoid trip to Albania you have been warned!! The Airport is a nightmare , too many flights at the same time too few check in desks just one security screen!! One good comment the Weather late September , early October just two cloudy days , unfotunatly the Island is loosing its Greek identity many regular visitors said they would not be going back!!!me neither
Brilliant Hotel in a wonderful location
We spent 10 days at the Dassia Chandris in August 05 and loved every minute. It's a brilliant Hotel in a wonderful setting. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. We usually go to the Thomson Gold Hotels but I would say this Hotel is equally as good, if not better. The food is fabulous with a brilliant choice every day and the staff cannot do enough for you. The road at the front of the Hotel is very busy and at times virtually impossible to cross but there is a lovely walk along the sea front with plenty of Tavernas facing the sea. The rooms are kept spotless every day and a lovely gesture was the real roses in a vase and a complimentary bottle of wine from the Manager. We would definitely return to the Dassia Chandris.
Nice Standard Agean/Medit. Resort Hotel.
Spent a week at this hotel for a conference. The setting is beautiful. The grounds are very well maintained. Our room was a walk-out--30 meters to the pebbly beach. The view was fantastic. Room had tile floor throughout, bathroom needs a remodeling, looking a little worn and dated. Beds were hard and unforgiving-must be that "space age" foam material. All rooms had two singles, pushed together--not good for the "romantic side" of the trip Foam pillows. It was very nice, but We were very happy to get back to our "Luxury" hotel--Tulip Electra Palace Hotel in Athens. We are always travelling somewhere every month, often international. After looking around on Corfu, I'd rather stay at the Corfu Palace Hotel in Corfu Town. The front desk was not very pleased or helpful when we asked for a suggestion of a place to buy a bottle wine to enjoy on our patio or even where to get a bottle of water or a Coke Light--Their suggestion was to use the mini-bar (at 5 times the price!). Cab to Old Corfu Town shouldn't be over 7 Euro although the beginning asking price is 15-20 Euro. Front desk will help to negotiate any cab deal. A good idea if the destination is new. Perhaps we have just been to too many superior places around the world to rank this one any higher than "just OK" or average.
Loved it twice
My wife had her eye on this hotel in the Portland/Thompson brochures for some time. In 2002 we stayed there for ten days and in 2003 we stayed for a week after a cruise. It was a very pleasant surprise to find that the staff actually remembered us. It is an excellent centre for travelling to other places and there's a free bus to Corfu town. The only problems we had were a noisy parrot across the road and the price of drinks in the hotel. We found Mam-Taka eaterie, about ten minutes walk towards Corfu, was the best value for drinks and Spiros and his family were very friendly. We will definitely return one day.
A Hotel to Remember
There is no problem giving this hotel a 5 star rating having stayed there in 2001,2002,and 2003. The rooms are cleaned every day plus fresh sheets and towels. The hotel is run by pleasant, well mannered, friendly and helpful staff who bend over backwards to make sure you have a wonderful holiday. The restaurant is spacious with a view that you will never forget and the variety of food is second to none. With the beach being only 100 metres from the hotel it really is the ideal holiday. Once tried never forgotten
excellent hotel
I would thorougly reccommend this hotel to anyone wishing to holiday in Dassia Corfu. The hotel is in a prime position close to the beach and amenities.Do book a sea view room as the front of the hotel there is a very busy main road and very noisy day and night from traffic. The decor is lovely, its very spacious, the food is excellent with endless choices of menu. The hotel staff in all capacities are very friendly and helpful. Our only fault was that the drinks from the bars, even soft drinks were very expensive, so we tended to go to the local bars. The woodpecker and Eric's Place oppisite the hotel were reasonable. All in all we had a fantastic holiday in August 2003.
ok hotel in Corfu
Perhaps it was my expectations that were the problem. After reading all the glowing reviews of this "resort" I was disappointed when I actually arrived. First off, I didn't realize how far the hotel was from Corfu Town. On the bright side, it is in its own little tourist area (area very popular with the English I understand) but it is not in the main town. Second, the lobby is very nice but the rooms are extremely basic and dated. Reminded me a little of one of the old school Sheratons or Ramadas. Definitely clean and functional but not at all luxurious or contemporary. If you stay here, bring your own beach towel- strangely enough you have to pay to rent one, even at the pool!
