Myself and my family have just returned from what was probably the most enjoyable holiday we have had,the hotel and facilites were fantastic and the staff within the hotel from the chamber maids to the general manager could not have done anymore to make our stay any better,we will be returning next year to a wonderful location with wonderful people.

Hotel rooms OK but the beds a bit hard like laying down on the floor , Staff on the whole OK, Views very good gardens excellent.
The bad news the food is poor quality and badly cooked and boring there was nothing about the food to say I would like to eat that.
Secondly the price of a bottle of wine was extortion between 25 and 35 eruo a bit dear.

My husband and I have just returned from a week at this Lovely Hotel, It as its own private beach (shingle) but great anyway. (Doughnuts wonderful). Hotel grounds were outstanding extremely well tended.
The gym is of really good standards with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi’s inside and outside by the pool.
We had a standard room which was very big, with mini-bar, TV, balcony over-looking the pool and also sea view, the room was spotless, cleaned daily, bathroom (quite compact) had all the usual complimentary toiletries, replenished when used plus hairdryer.
Mini-bar, Hotel bar and internet quite expensive, but the outlook is beautiful, we were lucky the temp was 30+ degrees with only one day’s rain.
May I suggest "Dream" the pub across the road from the hotel, drinks cheap and also internet available with English food for lunch.
Food at the hotel is good with plenty of choice, the staff are helpful and polite at all times.
Corfu town is very scenic and well worth a visit, hop on the bus only 1 euro.
Dassia as quite a few bars, tavernas, restaurants and tourist shops.
One of the best holidays we have had. First time with Travel City Direct but would recommend them even had taxi transfers.

" It is the first time we had booked... "

It is the first time we had booked over the internet -and we were a bit nervous but Broadway were v efficient - tickets arrived well on time etc no probs. ....and saved ourselves around £400 over the Thomson prices.
Taxi fare from airport 0- 15-20 euros depending on car.
HOTEL is schizophrenic - on one side there is a beautiful bay with mountains and on the other a very noisy road.
Insist on a sea view unless you are used to a LOT of noise .. it can take 5 minutes to cross the road in the evenings - that’s how busy it is.
Rating is 3-star British, although the dining room is well run. Food - usual superior canteen stuff, but if you like meat, this is carved in small slices and you are not allowed any more - so there!
Fellow guest - mostly Italian, Swiss, Dutch, about 10 percent British.
Disabled - hotel seems to have quite a few ramps and is on an incline, rather than having steps up to it
Reception - the usual two receptionists that you seem to find at every hotel - one Zoë ( an angel) and another one... don’t bother - best to wait until Zoë comes on duty. The porter was great - very helpful and we tipped him! (Yes - that good).
POOL is better than the Chandris hotel next door but gangs of teenage boys (British - shame) from the hotel kept invading and having territory “wars” in the pool... upsetting the smaller children by throwing balls AT them and an Italian family, who cowered in the corner.
Lifeguard didn’t do a thing.. to busy chatting up the girl in the snacks cafe!
The Corfu Chandris seemed to be a far busier and noisier. We visited but didn’t stay longer than 30 minutes, as we preferred the Dassia Chandris, as it was cleaner and quieter.
(Corfu Chandris seemed like Butlins - Dassia, one of the better Pontins..... at least the week we were there)
Rooms
Small but with a good view of the bay. Suitable for 2 adults 1 child max. Bathroom - cleanish. Take your own hairdryer as the hotel’s is VERY slow. Towels rather small and threadbare although changed every day.
Entertainment - Not exactly entertaining. Most people went out, although the magician was good.
BEACH is clean - wide with gritty dark brown sand and quite narrow - the sellers - Doughnuts, melons, grapes and African sculptures (!) are not too demanding. It’s ok for children to bathe as the waves are not high. Sea - not cold at all, the week we were there.

ILLNESS - Ear infection. Visited the “British” doctor opposite Chandris and our own doctor happy with his prescription. One note of caution - his receptionist seemed to know what the problem was immediately, so anyone prone to ear infections might like to take precautionary measures.
ALL IN ALL - Wouldn’t go back because of the road, which has a crossing but drivers don’t take any notice of it. This would be a major disadvantage to anyone not quick on their feet...but the hotel is well run for a hotel in the peak season and if the lifeguarding on the pool had been sorted out it would have been a pleasurable week.

" Room was nice, with a brilliant view.... "

Room was nice, with a brilliant view. Ask for Sea View room as the other rooms look out onto a busy main road.

Dassia is a fairly quiet town although has everything you need - Few bars, places to eat lunch, car hire, supermarkets etc. Brilliant Olive Wood gift shop where everything is handmade and reasonable prices. Hotel staff were friendly, bar prices same as mini bar, which were very expensive. (A local beer is 3.50 euros, 65 cents in the supermarket)

Food was OK-generally something there we liked each day. There were a lot of Germans there who were very rude, and even asked the hotel staff to not seat anyone other than Germans in one half of restaurant!! I would say 95% of guests were over 60 (Prob due to time of year), however this worked in our favour as it was really quiet & relaxing and amenities free for us to use. Definitely recommend hiring out a boat from the firm on the beach, they were really friendly, told us everything we needed to know & even where was best to go.

You can see some lovely sights around the coast & moor up wherever you like - we stopped at a nice restaurant, then headed back out, moored up again and sunbathed in a secluded bay-Brilliant day (Watch out if it gets choppy though!!!)

All in all a nice hotel with plenty to do if it’s sunny, not a lot if it’s raining (which it did 3 days) just a shame about the other rude guests.

Overall a nice hotel.
Rooms are nice but nothing special. The food was lovely and they always had fantastic choice. The pool area was nice although the sun beds by the pool were the only free ones so it was difficult to get one.
The gardens and beach were also superb and the water sports were great but not for the faint hearted.
Entertainment staff were great fun and the aqua aerobics is a must do - brilliant fun rather than a work out.
Dassia as a resort is fairly quiet with a few shops and bars but just 15 minutes walk away is Ipsos, which has lots of bars and clubs to choose from.
One word of warning - the Jacuzzis in the Corfu Chandris were put on a list of the 20 most unhygienic water areas in Europe by the Daily Mail so watch out.

Excellent hotel, very clean and laid back. Can not fault the food. The only down side is the lack of sun beds around the pool. Would definately go back.

Great hotel, fantastic grounds and beach (didn't like having to pay for sun beds though). Food was fantastic, lots of choice. Swimming pool a bit crowded and not enough sun beds. Loads to do in the day if you didn’t want to be a beach-potato, sports, competitions, all provided by enthusiastic, helpful staff. Great entertainment, especially for kids.
Would definitely go again as a great all-round holiday!!

Don't worry yourself though as we decided it was the best Hotel we've ever stayed at!!!
There are two Hotels basically on a site. The Dassia Chandris and the Corfu Chandris. Both are fantastic and have been refurbished in the last few years. You can use facilities in both including the restaurants. Fantastic gardens separate the two
Food fantastic and we all piled on the weight in the 2 weeks we were there. Buffet breakfast and dinner and eat as much as you can manage. At least 3 types of 'roast' each night with various sauces, vegetables, roast potatoes on a Sunday, salads/pasta coming out of your ears along with German/Italian/Greek food. Breakfast could be an all day affair if you tried everything there. Yes there were chips occasionally but that was the closest to 'junk' you could find at dinner. The food was constantly being topped up even 10 minutes before breakfast/dinner ended. Always piping hot and fresh too. At least 8 different desserts each night, along with fresh fruit, yoghurt and a great icecream bar where you helped yourself (childs delight).
Hotel is spotless, staff are friendly and very polite, the General Manager makes a point of coming and speaking to you every morning and most evenings and makes a fuss of the kids. Rooms are reasonable in size and are air conditioned with a fridge minibar. We asked to be away from the main road as we heard all these stories about how noisy it was and got upgraded to a sea view for free (worth £28 a night extra if there are four of you in the room and you book via First Choice), however we did compromise on size (double bed and two campbeds did take over most of the room). No noise at all. and even when we used the courtesy room on the last night (because of the awful night flights) we were located on the main road side of the Hotel and there wasn't any noise there either.
Free Hotel run Kids club is more of an 'art and craft club' for younger children but my two loved it (runs from 09:00 till 16:00 with 30 minute break). Run by a fanastic Greek lady who genuinely loved kids.
Entertainment is okay, Greek nights, Magician with dancing dog and acrobats, Bizarre Magic night with a Polish couple (worth watching just for their facial expressions and bizarre outfits) with singing on other nights. Apparently they did away with their kids disco when they did the refurbishment (i guess they didn't want to lower the tone of the Hotel).
Outdoor cinema is great idea with a bar at the back and a popcorn machine, different film each night, either in English or with English subtitles.
Swimming pools immaculate with a lifeguard. Baby pool very shallow with plenty of sunbeds surrounding it so that you can watch the children.
Plenty of sunbeds around the pools or in the garden areas (The Hotel is on three levels, the Hotel and pools (one large and one shallow kids pool) on one level with a patio area and bar, then down a level to the gardens (free sunbeds there too), and then down another level to the beach (sunbeds at a charge of 3 euros each per day). The beach was shingle rather than sand.
Considering we went on 11th August and this was supposed to be peak season, there was no problem getting a sunbed either around the pool or in the gardens. The Hotel only seems busy at meal times as it is spread over such a large area. English people in a minority, lots of German, Russian we think, Italians (who were particularly rude) and Greek. Not many children at all. The most people we counted in the pool at any one time was 8.
Dassia as a town is pretty quiet although you can get to Ipsos by taxi in 10 minutes if you want more night life or Corfu Town in 30 minutes by bus (2 euros 60 return)
Plenty of restaurants, the occasional English bar (Great Shakes was particularly popular as the owners made you feel so welcome), reasonably cheap food and drinks outside the hotel. Watersports centre on the beach between the Dassia Chandris and the Corfu Chandris (try the Great Big Mable ride - a giant lilo that takes four people lying on their backs and gets dragged through the sea by a speed boat) , Horse Trekking near by, Dive Centre in Ipsos. What more can you want?????? You can do as much or as little as you like. Watch the enormous yachts stop out to sea by the hotel or in Corfu Town (we saw the enormous yacht called ECSTASEA owned by Roman Abromovich) and the cruise ships go past.
Weather was hot hot hot and not one cloud in the sky all fortnight. There was a breeze for two days which you desperately needed. Thank goodness for the enormous palm trees to sit under by the pool.
You can see why people come back year after year (one couple were on their 17th visit)
The only downsides were the cost of drinks in the Hotel (4 euros for a beer, 3 euros 40 for a diet coke and the same again for a magnum type icecream by the pool). This did make a lot of people go outside in the evenings to surrounding bars. Wine was very expensive as was a bottle of water at dinner (2 euros 70). However, most people did go to the supermarket across the road and buy their own even though there were signs asking you not to bring your own drinks in to the public areas of the Hotel (Hotel provides a fridge in each room to store it in)
AquaLand worth a visit (but don't go via First Choice as it costs you 134 euros for 2 adults and 2 kids). There are tour companies in town where you can get tickets and a return bus for a lot less than that.
We loved it and have recommended it to everyone we know!!! Looking at the brochures it may seem a little more expensive than some of the other Hotels but it was by far the nicest one we saw in the best position and you are paying for the fantastic food too.
The only downside to Dassia itself is that the Hotel is on a main road with no crossings at all. The drivers do not stop to let you cross either. The pavements are pretty useless and difficult with a buggy as you would have to walk in the road for some of the journey. There are a lot of mopeds on the roads driven by nutters who definately don't stop to let you cross (even though the car in front of them has stopped). Just be careful!!!
Anyone who moans about this Hotel is a serial moaner and you should take no notice of them at all. We loved it.
PS Take plenty of sun cream. We did 12 bottles in 14 days!!!!!!! Very high factor needed as the temperatures were between 35-40 degrees very early on in the day
