having read all the great reviews for this hotel, both i and my new wife were realy looking forward to a stress free honeymoon away from our 2 young children.having booked and paid a few hundred pounds extra for a bungalow in the hotel gardens,we were off to a bad start on arrival at 4am,being told that "there must be a mistake,no bungalows available and the offer of a room(528).we didnt want to make a fuss, having just arrived,so ,thinking this would be sorted in the morning,we were just happy to get our heads down...but wiat a min...the bed smells of melted butter!!! the blanket infact!!! yuk! also the air con didnt work and the chairs in the room were all stained! after a few hours "rest" we went to the reception to sort out the bungalow thing, but was told once again that no bungalows were available, but we were offered an appartment(the ground floor of a 3 storie building in the hotel grounds! this was promising but was dissapointed on entering the appartment, the smell of mould was awful and wasnt just a bit damp, all the walldrobes and cupboards were soaked in this smell and there was no doubt to us that we could not sleep there,my wife was actually reeching to be sick,THE SMELL WAS REALY THAT BAD!! so back to reception to tell them that we are not happy, just to be told that there is nothing that they can do,and to wait for our thomas cook rep to arrive (4HOURS LATER!!) in the meantime our cases are being polluted with the smell of a secondhand bookshop in the appartment! we went to the beach behind the hotel and had a swim and a chocholate doughnut(from a beach vendor) verry good!!!!the beach is small pebbles and sand, quite narrow but plenty of sunloungers for hire(3 euros).and the watersports is busy but quiet!!not the best beach to look at but overall 0k-good so 2pm comes and we are still not happy about our accomadation, waited till 2.20 til the rep turned up,told her the probs with the no bungalows available thing and she spoke to the guy on reception, and as if by magic an extra bungalow appears from heaven and we now have what we paid for!!! the bungalow was just what we expected, and we are now ok,only 1 day waisted, lugging our cases to 3 different locations around the hotel!! the rest of this review is short and sweet, i just wanted to highlight a few facts regarding customer service or lack of it!! be cautious when using the phone in your room!!! i was told it would cost half a euro a min to phone the uk and over the week we were there,we used the phone for approx 1hour and 10mins and our phone bill was 135.00 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they must be making a killing doing this and its not on!! dress for dinner is hit and miss,it says that you may wear anything but shorts,i wore 3/4 lengh trousers or 3/4 lenght bermuda type shorts 3 times.on day 4 i was asked to change my long shorts ,i trecked the 1/4mile back to the bungalow and changed into another pair that are an inch longer (i had worn them on day 1) on returning to the restuarant, the manager(who only has 1 suite himself) was holding his chin making a noise like he had wind or something, debating to himself weather my trousers were acceptable!! ok he said!! when i got in the restuarant there was several people in short shotrts and a few women in HOTPANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO IF U ARE ENGLISH AND MALE WEAR TROUSERE(I DID ON THE LAST 3 DAYS!! we hired a jeep from the guy across the road and saw most of corfu, agios gordis has a great beach, the sea is rougher on the west side of the island but is very clean and clear!!,palecostrista is loveley lots of bays and boat trips to caves and beaches!!! sidari has a great selection of shops and a great coastline, very warm water, great for scuba people, the canal amour is a bit? smelly, and the drive back is breathtaking(the drop from road to sea took my wifes breath a few times. overall it was a great place to go,but if you do stay in dassia, try the dassia chandris,as this looked a little more classy than the corfu chandris!! and first impressions were very good. the corfu chandris would have been ok if we had booked and paid for a standard room,as this was probably the best of the 3 types of accom we had the pleasure of trying.
Disappointment

Just arrived back from the Corfu Chandriss Hotel, which for a four star we found very disappointing. On arrival first impressions were very good, but soon found the standards quite poor. The lounge/bar area was stunning however the drinks were extortionate!! Resulting in the lounge being empty every night, also entertainment was rubbish. Rooms were satisfactory, the food was repetitive, OK but not four star. The pool area had no atmosphere and a shortage of sunbeds. The bay is really nice and the guys on the water rides are worth a viewing!! Go down to the beach and on the left there is a bar called Malibu which has a really good pool behind it, sunbeds cost 3 euros each per day but well worth it. All in all not good value for money.
Still as good for 3rd time!

The hotel has been externally updated since our last visit however the rooms have not. They were tidy but the bathroom fittings were a little worn. The service was excellent, nothing too much trouble. Beach a little busy compared to later in the year when we have been before but nothing unexpected. As others mentioned drinks in the hotel are a little expensive but that is expected for the claimed rating of the hotel. You can get cheaper by going down the road if you wish, there is plenty of choice. Food was good quality and plentiful, although Greek style was limited. The terrace area is excellent and cannot be beaten for a relaxing meal with excellent view. Cosmopolitan clientelle this time. Area convenient to access rest of Island. Corfu town lovely at night as usual and well worth visiting, particularly the old Town/Liston areas. We shall probably return!
Great Hotel, with beatiful places.

One of the best hotels in corfu since 1985. I' ve been there for 6 years with my family and friends. Great for family holidays. Offers also a lot of sports. The Taverna near the sea was great. A lot of good memories there. It has also many gardens near the beach and two bars. Looking forward to return.

well what can i say i thoruoghly enjoyed my stay at the chandris,i met many great people there as mentioned in a previous reveiw by a very good friend of mine from moscow. The villa superb especially if your planning on having a balcony party with lots if red vodka(ursus) and 2 dollar wine. The food was fantastic although do not buy crisps from the supermarket over the road they taste like cardboard. resort has plenty of clothing shops although none selling umberellas which was what we required during our stay luckily the hotel provide them in the villas.

Stayed for the very last week of the season, although the resort was 90% dead this suited us as a family with a small child (in bed by 10 each night!). The quietness enabled us to appreciate the beauty of this island all the more, an enjoyment that may have been spoiled if it were too busy/naff. The hotel staff were very friendly, my wife's birthday fell on our stay, and without telling the Hotel directly, a bottle of wine and fruit was found in our room that night, a nice touch. Our room was clean, with a good view. The food was good and quite varied, even for non meat eaters like us. The beach was ok, a bit grubby in areas. Though the water was lovely. The pool was more than adequate for us, with a lovely laid back feel, and the gym was well equipped. What was stunning is the views of the mountains from the hotel bar/pool/outdoor jacuzzi. Drinks too pricey, but we only bought in the happy hour 6-7pm, this was ok for us. One word of caution, we booked an excursion from our rep to Ochi Day parade in Corfu Town, on the understanding that there was no local bus service available for this. It cost 50 euros for the 3 of us, turned out there was a bus service both locally and by the hotel! Could have been free or less than 6 euros for what rather than the 50 euros it cost us effectively for a bus ride. This grates even more considering we found the local bus service easy to use for other days when we wanted to get around the Island. Don't fall for it, it's a con! Finally, if you like your scenery Green and spectacular, choose Corfu but possibly slightly out of season.

Stayed last 2 weeks of October. Was not told by Thomas Cook that the Sister Hotel the Dassia along with 99% of the Bars/Tavernas outside the Hotel that were referenced in the brochure were shut. We know it was late in the Season but were not told how shutdown the Island would be. Food was tepid at the best, very bland and started to run out during the time we were there. Room was disgusting on arrival with hair on Bathroom floor and a strong smell urine. Hotel prices are extortionate but due to Bars being shut had little choice. The Beach was filthy and had a plentiful supply of dog muck. Good Points: Staff friendly and polite, grounds well kept. Check with your tour operator what exactly is or is not available at time of booking. Definitely not up to the rating given ... 3* at the most compared to others we have stayed in around the world.
Loved The Corfu

What can i say ... I love the Corfu. I have never had such a good time in all my life. I was dreading the thought of leaving my beloved moscow but the people therre made me feel right at home. I met lots of new friends, "Bunny Boiler", "Dirk Diggler", "Rhino-saurasus" and many more. I love them all and i love corfu. The pool was great as was the indoor sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The restaurant was also fab with the cuisine to match. There is a lovely bar right across the road from the hotel where they sell two dollar wine which was truly the tastiest wine i've ever had. I would strongly recommend the Greek nite with plate smashing and lot of chamagne. I hope to return in the near future because " I LOVE CORFU"
Good but not great

Not as good as we had expected this being a First Choice Premier Hotel. We were originally allocated room 112 (see earlier review) but after one night and a complaint we were moved to a much better room. Andreas the reception manager was extremely helpful in facilitating this move. A few free sunbeds around the pool usually reserved very early but otherwise you had to pay extra for a sunbed by the beach or in the gardens. Not expected at a four star hotel. Food was generally very good with plenty of choice at both breakfast and dinner. Drinks as everbody has reported very expensive, so go outside for much better value. Overall a pleasant stay, with Andreas and all the staff always pleasant, cheerful and helpful.

We stayed at the Corfu Chandris from 05.09. - 15.09.2005. - great Hotel - excellent service - fantastic food - nice hotel entertainment - generous staf Rooms are not clean enough , especaily the bathroom. Pool and jacuzzi can be used by everyone not only hotel guests, what bothers hotel guests.

We stayed for a week and can home 31 may 2010. Really nice place with EXCEPTIONALLY well kept gardens. The biggest downside is the cost of drinks etc. 7 euros for a small beer? same for coffees etc. The mini bar in our room consisted of 4 small bottles of water, around 8... more
