We stayed for a week and can home 31 may 2010. Really nice place with EXCEPTIONALLY well kept gardens. The biggest downside is the cost of drinks etc. 7 euros for a small beer? same for coffees etc. The mini bar in our room consisted of 4 small bottles of water, around 8 small bottles of Fanta, Coke etc, 2 tiny beers and 6 MINIATURE spirits, cost? Nearly £90!!!! We shopped for ALL incidentals at supermarket over the road and didnt buy anything from hotel, we are not skinflints but couldnt sustain that sort of expense. Even the reps were embarassed about it. But all round, nice place. Boat trips from end of hotel jetty HIGHLY recommended and really reasonable compared to most tour operators prices. REALLY friendly boat crewe, lazy time, and fantastic quality food at beach BBQ. Would we go again? NO, based purely on cost of basics like drinks etc. Bars were enpty all of the time. Maid service, terrible. A charge is made for sun-beds on hotels private beach!! Free round pool

  • Advice: Take lots of cash or buy drinks from supermarket! Nothing for kids or if it rains.

This is quite a large hotel having over 200 rooms and was recently refurbished. All the rooms had balconies and wither overlooked the sea or the gardens. The gardens were very well kept and peaceful - lovely for a stroll when the sun was setting.
The hotel has its own private beach only a stroll from the entrance. This tended to get rather busy at times but if you were out early enough, you could enjoy and hour or too in peace.
Beware - sun towel brigade to reserve chairs was at work.
The restaurant which looked onto the gardens was well set out and served very acceptable food. It was interesting that it also catered for diabetics (quite unusual but I am sure well appreciated).
Visitors are spoiled for choice as far as bars are concerned. Staff were friendly and efficient.
The hotel is within good travelling distance to many of the local areas of interest. I would advise looking at the brochures at reception for local events.

The hotel is indeed impressive, being a modern air-conditioned hotel with every amenity including wireless networking in areas including the fantastic gardens.
All the staff are experienced and can be great characters and very helpful. Food and all meals were fantastic. I have stayed at the Corfu Chandris 3 times and the Dassia Chandris once, prefer the Corfu, families with younger children are perhaps more suited to the Dassia facilities.
The Gym, used it once in all my visits, was fantastic, almost as good as the food.
Stamadis, probably spelt wrong, at the bar or restaurant makes the best Bloody Mary in Europe my wife tells me :).
All in all the Chandris hotels are in my view the best hotels on Corfu, seriously, you have to keep in mind you are on an island that its inhabitants like it's simplicities, they are part of the charms, with the Chandris you can do it in comfort lol.
The bay itself in Dassia is very clean and great for sunbathing and water sports. If you don't normally go for boating or even if your experienced I can't recommend highly enough renting a speed boat for a day, so many say it made there holiday! See Nikos at the boat hire on the South side of the Chandris beach. Take the boat up to Agni bay and have lunch, superb food! Seem to put on weight when I go to Corfu ?? Oh the cakes and pastries mmmm.
Venture around the local shops, bars and even try out any of the restaurants, they are all great. Go to Corfu Town, the Liston at night is amazing for shopping, drinking or simply watching the people go by.
I would give the hotel 10/10 if it wasn't for the rooms, time for a revamping, looking a bit worn and aren't doing the hotel it's complete justice any more. Will review again after August 2007.
Book early if you want to go in July or August, lots of regulars, that says it all, people keep coming back.
Magnus.

Jul 2007, Mr K DAVIES

What a fab hotel and resort. The hotel is in its first season under the Thomson Platinum banner. Rooms look as if they have been recently decorated. We had a King size bed and for those who have more of a 'Romantic' nature there was a ceiling to floor mirror directly opposite the foot of the bed. All rooms as we could see had a sea view. There was no extra charge for this.
Grounds of the hotel were immaculate and it was a pleasure each morning strolling down to the beach which was was about a 3 minute walk. Thomson customers paid 4 euros instead of 6 for beach sunbeds. Sunbeds by the pool were free, but in the 90 degree heat we found the pool area to be too much of a sun trap.
There were approx a dozen bars and same number of restaurants in the resort. Being on half board we did not eat out but found the bars to be of high quality and welcoming. For a livelier night visit IPSOS which was about a 20 minute walk and 5 minute taxi ride away.
We found the food to be of a good standard with plenty of variety. The desserts were to die for. Book this hotel and you will not be disappointed.

From the outside the hotel is impressive, with its dark windows and the big louvres it stands out as modern air-conditioned hotel.
Inside is the same. Reception is helpful, the couple of times I called them and asked for things they arrived very quickly.
Meals are great. Meat is cooked wonderfully, plenty to choose from, breakfast is anything you want it to be...bacon was lovely.
In the restaurant I recommend you go up the stair to the far corner and get a table in Kostas's corner. He will look after you and give you any info you need about anything....he will also sort you a table.
Grounds are expansive with loads of grass area...the beach is shingle...beds are 2 Euros each if you say Thomson to the seller.
One down side is the price of drinks in the hotel...a bit expensive but the street outside has a varied selection of bars and tavernas.
Other reviews say the road is busy and difficult to cross but I found it no problem if you keep your wits about you.
Overall if you fancy a Corfu holiday try this ...I don't think you'll be sorry.

May 2007, Ms C Aldridge

We have just come back from a superb relaxing week at this lovely clean hotel.
The hotel is set in lovely gardens, with plenty of trees to lie under in the shade/semi shade. It has a good beach frontage and the swimming on the beach is good, gently shelving and clean.
The whole island was very clean (even though it was early in the season you get the feeling that they care about their island).
On a couple of occasions we exchanged our evening meal for a lunch voucher in the beachside restaurant (which was excellent) and ate out in the evening locally and there was plenty of choice.
We hired a car for 3 days but also went into Corfu Town by local bus - at 1.20 Euro it was good value. All in all a very good holiday and hotel. Lovely island and Lovely people.

Hey well the holiday got off to a bad start when Thomas Cook didn't send our tickets then told us they would leave them at the airport. Turned up to find there wasn't anyone at the desk, why because the flight time had been changed and they failed to advise us of that also!
Anyway on to the accommodation, not at all advisable to stay in their bungalows, when I went we booked one and paid the extra as we have young children thinking that it would be much easier. Wrong! The bungalows have recessed roofs which all the rain pours into leaving the damp and awful smelling inside, they are also very dark and repressive. Stains on the ceiling you name it - it was so bad. They may be better now, I don't know. The villas up the other end by the restaurant looked very nice though.
We were then moved to a dirty room with electrical cables hanging out of the wall, ants in the bathroom and dead insects under the bed. Fed up by this time as said they had no more spare rooms so we stuck it out.
The electric is on the door key which is right by the door as you come in (just about toddler height) so toddlers can remove the key in the evening etc and all light/electric etc gone - try chasing a toddler round a room for a key in the dark!
Children are not very well catered for at all. If you are right downstairs there is no lift to get up to the restaurant so you have to carry pushchairs up the stairs etc. Very difficult to get up to the pool area as all stairs again. Pool is all the same depth and concrete all the way round so quite dangerous for little ones in my opinion and I spent the whole time worrying about my daughter falling over down steps and things. There is a lovely grass area down the bottom which leads onto the beach area so easier to stay down there really. They do have a kids club which is pretty good. I would also not advise this hotel for disabled people at all because of the lack of ramps etc.
Main thing to note, east side of Corfu has stony beaches and the west side has the sand. If only I had known this. I did not go onto the beach once as not very nice at all, the stones ruined it for me (no not nice rounded pebbles either).
On the up side, it is in a pretty good position, restaurant inside is pretty good with a nice variety of different foods etc. Lovely large balcony area in the restaurant where you can sit out, eat and look out over the grounds. There is a nice reception area too with some shops.
If the place was cleaner and replaced some of those steep steps with ramps and thought about their guests a bit more than I feel that they would do a lot better but for the money £950.00 for 7 days half board I was pretty disappointed to be honest!
