Hotel Condestable

We stayed for 3 nights, clean room, clean towels each day, breakfast bit of a non starter though. Ideal position if using the AEROBUS from the airport, & only 5 mins. walk from LAS RAMBLAS.

Stayed at this hotel on a two day city break. The central location is ideal for getting around the centre of the city by foot. It is located about 5 mins from Place Catalunya. This means the Metro, buses (including tourist bus) and taxis are all easily accessible from here. The hotel itself is BUDGET, compared to what you can pay in BCN. Therefore, for a short break where you spend most of your time sightseeing, it`s perfectly adequate. the hotel is central and very clean, the staff is very nice and educated, the breakfast is good but not more variated, the dinner is terrible. It's a good hotel only for bed and breakfast not like restorant.

Got a great price for 5 nights with some friends. Had asked for adjoining rooms on high floor which was met. Hotel was spotlessly clean with daily maid service. Rooms were basic but comfortable. Staff very helpful. Can be a bit traffic noisey but not unbearable. Didn't use breakfast option..so many places nearby to eat in. Metro stop right on hotel doorstep. Stayed in this hotel and was very pleasantly surprised. Clean and comfortable and excellent for the tourist sights of the city. Would highly reccommend to anyone looking for the perfect base, close to all transportation links and amenities at a reasonable price.

Very clean and very basic hotel with an ideal location. All main attractions within walking distance. Metro station nearby. Hotel staff helpful and let us leave our luggage there on our last day. The bath was little more than a deep shower tray which was a little disappointing as we would have loved a bath after a hard day's sightseeing. We stayed at the Hotel Condestable just before Christmas. This is a 2 star hotel just above the hostel level but extremely adequate. A double room on the top floor has the most super views out across the University Square. Single rooms not so good. It's a 5 minute walk to Placa de Catalonia & the top of the Ramblas. The bus from the airport stops right by the hotel. Excellent pub/restaurant 50 yards away. Go to Montserrat. I stayed here with two friends in a triple room for three nights - ideal location for a short stay - flew in from Glasgow Prestwick to Girona - bus from Girona to Estacion Nord in Barcelona - from there very short metro ride on the red line(Arc de Triomf) - 3 stops - to Universitat - which is about 10 yards away from hotel entrance. What it lacks in luxury it more than make up for in convenience. This hotel is in a fantastic location which allows you to walk to everything in central Barcelona. We never had to take the metro anywhere! The staff was reasonably, although not overly helpful. The rooms are quite small and very basic, but clean. Our view looked out over the back alley. We would probably stay here again although we might shop around for something a little cheaper.

If you're looking for luxury you'd best look elswhere but if you want a base within walking distance of La Ramblas and other tourist attractions then you'd struggle to beat this place for value for money. Room was basic but clean and more than adequate for our short stay in the city. Would stay there again.
