We went to Cap Salou this year for the first time with our children age 9, 14 and 16. The apartments were clean and spacious. Air-conditioning was good. They could do with more than one washing machine and dryer. Bedding and towels were changed ever two days, our bin was empty mon-sat.

The staff in the restaurant and bar were very nice and helpful. We ate most of the time in the restaurant, service was good and quick only down fall was not a great selection especially for kids.

Cap Salou was very quiet that suited us as we had our kids with us, not a place I would recommend for couples or single people. The village is small and nice we ate in Smugglers and The Tap House a few nights. Most nights we stayed at the hotel, the entertainment was more or less the same every night. Naomi and Jane were fantastic with the kids and their parents, they really did their best. But when you have people who just sit and run down the entertainment maybe they should have let their hair down and joined in, they might have had a different outlook to their holiday (but everyone is different and expects different thing from their holidays I cannot comment for everyone). The best night of our holiday was when the hypnotist was on.

There wasn't a great deal to do at night for the kids apart from play pool. Our kids made a lot of new friends they all ranged from the age 7-10 & 12-16. They were a good punch of kids it's just a shame the security guard and other people couldn't see that. I was very disappointed to see a notice up all over the hotel even in the lift about people complaining about the carry on that was going on in the hotel and more or less if it didn't stop they would call the police and their parents could lose their deposit. They were a bunch of harmless kids just on holiday trying to have fun. After all it is a family hotel.

The pool lacked maintenance. The drainage was very insecure. On a few occasions the rep or a member of staff would go and lift the towels of the sunbeds that people reserved before the pool opened. One night I watched the guy stack the beds and couldn't believe my eyes at the rubbish that was left, how hard is it to depose of your rubbish.

The reps were fantastic (even though my kids didn't go to the kids club). We went to the night they organized in the Crow's Nest great night. We went into Salou for the day didn't really fancy it, far too busy. Also went to La-Pineda, was a nice place, went to the water park it was ok. The theme park was really good especially the fire work display.

If travelling with First Choice make sure you ask if you have to leave a deposit when you check in to your apartment/hotel. We had to pay 100 Euros when we checked in, wasn’t told this when we booked our holiday.

Over all our holiday was good would consider going back.

Apartments were very clean and spacious and the staff were very friendly.

However you can only get junk food here, everything comes with chips and there aren't any alternatives.

Also the pool has a no reserving sunbed rule - absolute rubbish, if you actually want to get a sunbed round the pool you have to be up early and putting all your belongings and towels on it and reserving it.

This was very frustrating and meant my group had to go elsewhere! Also the lifeguard would turn up at lunchtime and seemed in no state to save anyone!!

The apartments were great for families and for in our case groups, but the food left a lot to be desired and the pool area should have been better monitored.

After reading some of the comments on here we were a bit worried about our choice of holiday, but I have to admit that we had a blast.

Nothing is perfect but the staff especially at reception cannot be faulted. We hired a car and found beautiful places that the staff had suggested, they got plans and maps for us from internet and could not be more helpful and friendly.

The only problem we found was that the bar was understaffed.

I would recommend this place to everyone and I have been having holidays abroad for the last 20 years. Try the Sunclub for yourself, sometimes you get treated how you treat people...honestly it was great!

We stayed at the Sun Club apartments in Cap Salou. The apartment was clean and had good air conditioning with fridge and microwave.

I found the overall hotel to be adequate. However, the pool area was very cramped and lacked maintenance. The poolside was dirty and never seemed to be free of debris.

The staff on check-in were English and extremely polite and helpful, but where did they go, after check in they never seemed to work a shift again and were replaced with staff that quite simply ignored you and went out of their way to be un-helpful !

This seemed to be the trend with also the restaurant and bar staff. It was actually quicker to walk to the shop for a drink than to stand at the bar.

However, on a positive note the reps for the kids club help to make my daughters stay more enjoyable with a variety of entertainment.

The evening entertainment for children was suitable and provided variety. They tried their best !

All those people who gave this hotel a good review must be mad; I wouldn’t go back here in my life.

So where shall I start in our first room we was on the bottom floor of the hotel which was ok until we went out on the balcony our view was a tree and all the cleaners next to us having fags they even left there cigarette trays on the side of our balcony and we had a 1 year old baby and when we complained the rep, he was not very helpful.

If you are coming on holiday to get a nice tan relax again don’t come to salou or the sun club apartments as we saw the sun about 3 times on our 2 week holiday as instead of relaxing by a pool, we got the pleasure of a tornado and a thunder storm causing the electricity to blow in the hotel.

When we did see the sun it wouldn’t be till about 2.00pm in the afternoon as due to where the pool is situated the sun doesn’t reach you.

Also if you want to go to the beach you have travel down a load of steep hills not good when you are carrying lilos and wearing flip-flops and wheeling a buggy.

As for the entertainment we have had better entertainment in a haven holiday park with Rory the tiger. As well referring to food in the hotel I waited about 20mins for a hotdog and for a hotel that provides for some many people there were about 6 tables and 1 waitress and so we waited nearly an hour just to get something to eat.

So if you want to go on holiday to come back the same colour, be bored out of your head then this is the place for you.

We went to Cap Salou for the first time with all the family, children aged 5,12 and 13 in September 2005 and we returned again in September 2006, as it was a wonderful holiday the first time.

We have recommended it to many friends and family and they have also enjoyed it.

Even though a bit quiet at night, we would go into Salou, but were grateful to come back to the Cap Salou at night.

Staff in all areas were very pleasant, especially the cleaning staff, who were meticulous at their jobs.

A visit to Portaventura and Aquapolis water park are a must. Booking trips and excursions can be done through the local public bus service, (bus Plana) and are very affordable.

There are plenty of places to eat in Cap Salou, especially The Paddock, Smugglers Inn and Danny Boys in Salou.

This holiday was everything I expected and more. I have never really been keen on Spain but I have to admit this holiday really blew me away.

The Sunclub apartments where brilliant, the rooms were more than I expected, very spacious with lovely views.

The staff where brilliant very helpful and they all speak English.

The entertainment was ok not brilliant but still a lot of fun for the whole, on our last night there was a comedian/ magician who was brilliant his name Matt Wicks I think. He was like a younger version of Lee Evans.

He was so funny me and my partner were laughing from the start to the end of his act. Of course they still had to play games and bingo every night but I loved it, it was a laugh.

If someone is reading this and would want someone to recommend a hotel in near Salou then I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I have just been to the Sunclub...

I visited Cap Salou last year for the first time with my husband and three children.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with air con but when we arrived the air conditioning was not working for 3 days .

We found that the apartments beside us had loud entertainment had so did the Sunclub apartments.

Tthere was a kids club but it cost a lot of money. The swimming pool was good for our older children because it had all different depths, but for the 5 year old it was not so good.

Down in the town there was a good selection of restaurants, and most of the time we found we had to go in to Salou and eat.

The beach was nice and quiet and the nearest town was Lapineda which is a 20 minute walk approximately.

Over all it was a great holiday and we liked it much we may go back in the future but not this year!

I stayed in the sun club apartments, please take my review seriously and ignore the negative reviews the sun club apartments were absolutely fabulous.

It was the cleanest place I have ever been in in my life; you could eat your dinner off the floors and see your reflection in everything. The hotel has a lovely restaurant so good that we ate there the majority of the time.

The restaurant was very clean although the staff may not chat like the way people may at home you have to take into consideration that they speak a different language and also put yourself in their shoes, if you were a waitress serving people who spoke a different language it would not be that easy to sit down and have a chat with them.

The nightlife in salou was brilliant and the sun clubs location excellent the shops were never ending and everything was very well priced. I think Salou offers so much for everyone so no matter what your age you will have a brilliant time guaranteed!!

* also especially if you have kids to go to the theme + water park

Hotel and room was lovely and clean, pool area was also always clean and not too cramped (probably because we went in mid season). Not happy about the £60 deposit you had to leave at reception on arrival.

Entertainment with Michelle, Laura and John was pretty good throughout the day, however there was one major problem with the Sunclub......THE STAFF...

Why was it every time me or my partner went to reception it was like we were making a nuisance of ourselves by asking them simple questions? The reception staff were mainly all English therefore there was no excuse to not understand what were asking or anything, but they all appeared to have an attitude problem, even on check-in. On our last day me and my partner had to laugh at a sign we saw on the wall by reception. ''Please feel free to ask our reception staff for any advice or even just for a friendly chat''.......what utter rubbish. Can you imagine the look we would've received if we asked for a chat?!

But the rudest of all the staff were the restaurant/bar staff......If they expected tips, I have no idea what for, as they were providing something which was far from friendly. They were possibly the rudest people with the worst attitude I've ever seen at a restaurant.....not really what you want on holiday. When the food eventually came, it was literally thrown at us. Tables were left dirty with the customer before plates left out. When we went to the bar, the barman approached us with an abrupt....'Yes?'' Not a ''hello, what can I get for you?'' At the busiest time of day (breakfast) there were two members of staff working the restaurant and the bar.....absolutely ridiculous.

Take my advice staff at Sunclub........cheer up! Then your guests might actually smile back at you.

This was my first holiday abroad...

This was my first holiday abroad with my teenage children we decided on sun club cap salou as it was the quieter part of Salou so we decided we would use it as a base.

The apartment and reception staff were great very friendly and apartments very clean. There was a bus stop right outside which was handy. We visited Salou town which had lots of shops and la pineda was lovely. most evenings we stayed in the sun club entertainment was not great.

Same thing every night quiz then bingo, then a bit of fun for small children, then deal or no deal by the end of the night you wanted to scream out of boredom. For teenage children there was nothing there and at night beware of the security guard, he was a complete pain and he does not care what you’ve got to say as he can’t speak English and does not care who he pushes around.

All that was there for teenagers was pool tables and that was if they could get on them as the little children loved to throw them around. How no one got hurt I don’t know .

I would go back to Salou again but would not stay in the sunclub.

Don’t really agree with some of the other comments hotel is a lovely clean friendly place reps were great especially Shell, Laura and Craig.

Entertainment was varied but the nightly games of quiz, bingo and deal or no deal were not very long and fun if you joined in.

Our kids are 14, 7 and 5 and all had a fantastic time they were not short of anything to do.

Location is a bit far out of Salou which is a lovely, lively place to be, although the bus service Plana is great and runs every 15 mins. Cap salou does have a couple of lovely beaches and a handful of shops and bars, although it is not as quiet as portrayed due to the noise from surrounding hotels.

The best places to eat are smugglers inn in cap salou and gabbers in salou.

What disappointed us the most was that there wasn’t really that much for our children to do. We spent lots of time in the day at the pool side, but that got monotonous after a while. There was only pool to play, and that was always packed.

There is 1 video game. The beach is down a hill which wasn’t highlighted to us and as my wife has a bad leg this would have been a factor for us. We travelled into Salou and also La Pineda via bus most days as a result. The local bus service (Panas) are a joke! With a 3 and a 6 year old we nearly had so many accidents as, as soon as you’re on the bus the driver sets off before you have managed to seat the children - if you can get a seat as most of the time we had to stand.

The entertainment on the evening was ALWAYS deal or no deal - this bored the life out of almost everyone we spoke to, and the reps who entertained were quite happy to take your Euro's at every opportunity. We would not return.

The first thing I must say is...

The first thing I must say is the holiday reps and staff at the sun club was very helpful and the weather was very hot and the room had air conditioning which was great at night times.

The down side was, we were put on the top floor in room 525 just below the main air conditioning unit and as everyone turned it on at night it was going hell for leather. The noise was like sleeping in a washing machine, it was mind blowing - my two kids age 12 + 9 couldn’t sleep. Me and my wife I think slept through the noise out of being so tired but it would still wake you I think unless you are a heavy sleeper.

We didn’t get moved for a week so that took the edge off the holiday, the other thing we found was there was nothing to do in the evenings unless your kids are young the entertainment was very poor and the same thing every night. Having older kids, they got bored and so did me and my wife.
