" Really clean place "

We went as a family with 2 children and a 4 month old baby, it was a lovely clean friendly place, food in restaurant was great, cater well for familys, staff fab, most speak enlish. rooms wre huge, we had a one bedroomed apartment with fantastic views over the sea. Only thing we would of change is that they only change bed linen once a week, but clean towels everyday. we paid 270euros for a week, was worth every penny!

Advice: go to ambrills, it has some great restaurants, seafood was lovely

Activities: lunatic restaurant in salou was lovely

" Sunclub aparthotel "

Stayed here early September. Very pleased with our apartment as it was nice and clean but kettle only supplied for a charge! There is a restaurant/cafe on reception floor which is pretty good and inexpensive. Entertainment great for kids but maybe not to everyones taste. Had to bus it everywhere as Sunclub is situated in Cap Salou at the very top of Salou but only takes 5 minutes into Salou centre on bus. Do not be put off by bad reviews as the majority of people do not go to the bother to write positive ones!

Advice: Very expensive and plagued by sunglasses and wacky backy sellers

Activities: Knights Inn restaurant. Kiss nightclub. PortAventura.

" dont go to sun club  "

I read all the reviews before i left and believe me there true. The entertainment was awful bingo every nite we only stayed at it once and that was for the bird show. the bins were changed everyday but that was it. They don't tell about the bus pass we saved 32.00 euros by buying them. you get it at the reception its a card and you can top it up 10, 20 or 30 travels. for 30 travels it was 28.00 euro. there is also a supermarket around the corner from the sun club which is far cheaper. We loved cap salou cause we like walking and you can walk to salou within 20 minutes. the smugglers inn is that only place to eat in cap salou every were else is rotten. if you go between 5 - 7 for every adult eating you get 1 free kids meal. For the entertainment go the hotel below its an h10 and we went there every nite.

Advice: Salou is great for kids there is loads to do.

Activities: smugglers inn cap salou/ uncle sam in salou/ and christies irish pub in salou for happy hour

" not a nice time "

We arrived at hotel at 10 am thinking great extra time on the hols! No!! the people in our room were still in it ! Had to lock cases in a not so safe cupboard with loads of other folk trapesing in and out. then off to the very expensive bar to have a drink and wait for 3 hrs while they "cleaned" our room. I use the word clean very loosely. When we did check in we asked for a kettle which had a big sign saying for 7 euros, only to be told that there was none left! There was when I first arrived!!! Rooms themselves large and plenty of storage. we had a family room with ps2, went at night to hire a game as we have before in other hotels (my son has x box) only to be told that you had to supply your own games! Don't tell you that in the brochure! Beds were only changed once, never made. I had to sweep floor every day, I have never stayed in such a mess. entertainment was too loud, and the noise from hotel next door meant that it was not even worth trying to go to bed before 1 am. The only good thing about our holiday was getting out to port aventura every day, we bought tickets online the day before we went away, really worth it, much cheaper to do here and we got 7 days in the park for the price of 2 days from first choice. It is a bit expensive to get out and about 20 euros to get there and back every day but first choice don't provide transport to park either so much better to do it yourself. I'm glad we did the theme park as we will not be back to spain again. This has put me off ever going to mainland spain because I felt that they just wanted your money and were not prepared to give you the service. I know the pound is low against the euro but manners cost nothing! I have used first choice for 5 years and travelled the world but not any more, we have booked our next holiday with virgin

Advice: Very expensive to get around

Activities: Port Aventura-Dragon Kahn!

" Sunclub "

We just got back from our holiday in Cap Salou, Dont believe all the reviews on the sunclub appartments, my family of 4 boys enjoyed it very much, the reception staff (Kim/Sophie) couldnt do enough when our 3 yera old boy fell very ill and ahd to be taken to the hospital for the day, the reps are very helpful and friendly too. We didnt eat at the sunclub so cant comment on food, but we did find the best pub in cap salou called the smuggler inn outstanding food and very friendly, the only down fall on the apartments was that the sheets never got changed enough :(, also yes cap salou is very hilly but so wot we loved the walks, wot do peopple expect...overall very enjoyable holiday, so stop complaining people be happy :)

Advice: Very Lovely and dont believe all the reviews

Activities: the smuggler inn

" SUNCLUB APARTMENTS "

the sunclub apartments are purely for families with children, we went as a couple in june and it was swarmin with children, very very dissapointed, very noisy playing bingo till 1.00 a.m. loud and noisy couldnt sleep. also disgusted with a local parrot show that came in and the parrots wings had been clipped so they couldnt fly, pictures were taken with them, from various people holdin the parrots, it was all money orientated, it was cruel and in the first choice booklet we received prior to departure, it states that under so circumcstance should you stroke or have a picture taken with anything in captivity we from england should know so much better it disgusted myself and my husband and have complained to first choice, the situation also was bad, quite hilly, in fact totally rubbish and no way 4 star they must have let their hand slip with the stars WILL NEVER GO AGAIN WITH FIRST CHOICE AVOID THESE APARTMENTS.

Advice: LIKE BLACKPOOL

" Sun Club Aparthotel Cap Salou "

Just after staying at the sun club for a week , reviews obviously differ
my experience was that it may not be top of the range apathotel it was spacious family apartments, very clean, apartments were cleaned 5 days out of seven plus linen @no charge, go to the top floor it is the qietest avoid rooms beside lifts area as there is the air con system overhead , can be noisy@ nite, Roof balcony is a great for quiet sunbathing , plenty of chairs at the pool but it does not get the sun till near mid day
Staff were friendly, all english food in the returant was good not a gourmet meal but nice , good quality breakfast @ €6.50 less 20% before 10am was good value
In house entertainment could be a bit noisy but kept the children busy every nite plus day activities
Lot of chilren/ families there , just dont go if not family orientated
Cap salou can be a quiet area not to many bars or places to eat . they may not look great but the food is good
Going to Fotaventura Buy your tickets with credit card at the point of entry to the park you will get it printed also there & then it is the quickest way in , reps tickets will only get you into another que, buy a further express ticket inside the park as some rides may be over an hour long queues

Advice: can seem quiet at first but after one night in downtown salou you will appreciate it La pinede is th

" Great Holiday! "

Just arrived back today from the Sunclub, me, my husband and 3 year old daughter had a lovely time. The apartments were very spacious, roomy and clean and tidy. Lovely big balconies and everything you might need there (other than a Kettle, definately worth taking a travel kettle as the hob takes forever to boil water). There was a Microwave, 2 ring electric cooker, extractor fan, toaster, juicer, jug, pots, pans, and the usual crockery plus a teatowel which amazed me as Ive never been S.C anywhere and been give a teatowel LOL.
The bathroom was spacious and shower lovely and powerful, hot water a plenty and clean towels frequently, theres a hairdryer too so no need to pack one! Absolutely loads of wardrobe space, 2 in the main bedroom and 2 in the living area.
The pool is average sized but clean and tidy, a small childrens pool and a park which to be honest is literally a slide and wendy house but a small basketball/football area to the side of it. Sunbeds were in short supply but there was only 1 day when we didnt manage to get them and theres a little grass so we put our towels on there, the poolside is shaded in the mornings but come lunchtime its great!
2 lifts in the hotel, quite small but we never seemed to wait long at all. Reception staff all spoke good english and were very helpful and polite, bar staff and shop staff english speaking too.
The Take Away and Restaurant were average but ok for a quick pizza or burger, its better to walk into the village if you'd pefer a good evening meal. Prices seemt steep but its our Euro exchange rate which is the problem, the prices over there havent really changed its just we are getting a lot less Euros for our Sterling. Prices of Take Out in Euro - Chips 2.60, Burger 4.20, Pizza 7.20, Bacon Sandwich 4.20, Coca Cola 2.10, San Miguel 2.60 (Happy Hour 2-4-1 between 7pm - 8pm)
The shop has a cash machine and was ok priced, bottled Water 0.45, ice creams 1.50, all english newspapers 2 euro's. Initially we found the food and drink costly but its again the exchange rate not the shops/restaurants at ault.
In Cap Salou village theres a few supermarkets and gift shops, a small funfair which has 2 bars, serves food and has nightly entertainment, its not fantastically polished but has a lovely holiday atmosphere and my little girl loved it. Theres some trampolines, electric dodgem cars, inflatable slide/castle, flying plane roundabout and plenty of football, air hockey tables and a small shooting range.
The Smugglers Inn was great, staff all friendly and mainly english, my husband had a T-Bone Steak and its was huge and so tender!
The Paddock was also a lovely place to eat with such friendly staff and a vast menu including Rabbit of all things LOL.
Transport into Salou was frequent, Buses every few minutes and priced at 1.85 Euro. A little Train (well it has wheels so not a real one! LOL) was a lovely way to get into Salou, it cost 3 Euro per trip but worth every penny, the green line and blue line both went into Salou and stopped directly outside the Hotel, a small taxi rank outside too.
The hotel is on a steep incline but we had a buggy and to be honest its a short walk so doesnt tire you out too much (secret is to have a beer before attempting and it doesnt feel so bad at all :) )
We didnt really stay to watch any entertainment but its was on in the Hotel nightly plus kids club stuff going on most of the time.
To be honest, I read tons of bad reviews before we went and was quite concerned but we shouldnt have been at all. Lovely place, lovely people, and to be honest it is a mainly Self Catering place therefore its never gonna be a plush 5* Hotel is it??!!
Well worth a visit, great fun!!!!! ooohhhh beaches lovely too :)

Advice: Dont be put off by the reviews and take a travel Kettle!

" Fabulous Holiday "

I have returned today 5th May, I read the reviews prior to leaving and was worried to be honest, but I am so glad I went, What a Clean and friendly place, Beer 2.40 Euros, yes the Euro has taken a hammering but really we had a great week, yes there are some hills but what views you have, beautiful coves to bask in the sun.
The Rooms are Huge, so very clean, towels changed every day bar Sunday. English speaking staff. All I can say is dont always be put off by what you read, I personally have had a blast, had many laughs with the entertainment staff and the staff in general, Yes English products are expensive but your are in Spain so try spanish bread at 85 cents its FRENCH STICK !!!!! I will be returning very soon and will be taking my children this time Thanks Guys for an amazing holiday.

Advice: Salou drove me Mad nice by day but at night TOUTS everywhere where as Cap Solou nice and quiet.

" Cap Salou OK Hotel Cack "

Rooms looked good on arrival with quick check in. However it was two electric hobs that took 50 minutes to boil a liter water so cups of tea and coffee were right out the window. The tap for the sink in the kitchenette took 4 minutes to fill 2 1 liter bottles. So for self catering it was useless. So tried the food in the restaurant which was p*** poor (on that note have to recommend Route 66 down the hill which was much better quality). The air conditioning made the room hotter. Maid service consisted of some one emptying your bin and giving you a roll of toilet paper Monday through Saturday. The pool has been placed such that the sun only gets to it at about 3 in the afternoon great to cool off if your a polar bear not so good if your a kid. Me with my ample insulation couldn't feel my feet after a couple of minutes. The rep will tell you that La Pineda beach is a 15 minute walk away its not its half an hour away but the supermarket there is a lot cheaper than the frankly outrageous prices they charge in the hotel "supermarket". The entertainment is quiz first ok, then bingo ok then kids screaming blue murder not so good (and yes we had kids with us a 4year old and a 13 year old). this holiday was rescued by the fact that we found a decent restaurant, went to Portaventura for 2 days and had really good weather for the whole week

" mountain goat "

Dont go it will cost you a lot to do a sc as we found out, Also very hilly ok if your a mountain goat , The price of a loaf of bread is £2.50 and £2.50 for a tub of marg 1 lt of milk is £2.49,
maid service is next to non existant only emty the bin and thats it , no making of the beds no mopping of the floors no changing of the sheets , Tv ok if you are french or spanish other wise its world news all the time as it was the only english channel ,
no way is it a 4 star more like 2 we will never go selfcatering again as spain has lost the plot and just robs the tourist right rip off , The bus to salou cost £2 each way and if you have the energy to walk up all the hills and slopes then it will take you 45 min longer if you stop for rests, lapineda is the same very steep hills and a long walk ,
we only went on a last minute and paid £85 each sc so dont pay any more !its just not worth it, It cost £5 for a g&t , but beer was cheap at £2.60 a pint , happy is ok two for one so not to bad , cigs cost £23. 33 for a carton of 200 mayfair , amber leaf is £2.50 per 50gram pouch , its better to pay by card and they wont rip you off with the exchange rate,
and get the bottles or drink you have to haggle to get them we got a 1/2 bottle of smirnoff with every 400 fags so make sur you ask , if you want more info then email us on
mandyjanesymondsfrappme@hotmail.com will never go self catering again AI FROM NOW ON ITS JUST TO DEAR .

" The apartments were very clean and... "

The apartments were very clean and spacious. The staff were a little offish at times, but this would'nt spoil a holiday there. The entertainment was excellant. The fire alarm was set off by a woman who had had a little to much to drink, we were slightly concerned that the staff did not alert us and vacant the hotel. But overall we had a brilliant time met some lovely people and would go back.
