Aparthotel SunClub Salou Reviews
" We stayed at the Sun Club apartments... "
Submitted By: Miss J ParkI found the overall hotel to be adequate. However, the pool area was very cramped and lacked maintenance. The poolside was dirty and never seemed to be free of debris.
The staff on check-in were English and extremely polite and helpful, but where did they go, after check in they never seemed to work a shift again and were replaced with staff that quite simply ignored you and went out of their way to be un-helpful !
This seemed to be the trend with also the restaurant and bar staff. It was actually quicker to walk to the shop for a drink than to stand at the bar.
However, on a positive note the reps for the kids club help to make my daughters stay more enjoyable with a variety of entertainment.
The evening entertainment for children was suitable and provided variety. They tried their best !

Submitted By: Miss E EVANSSo where shall I start in our first room we was on the bottom floor of the hotel which was ok until we went out on the balcony our view was a tree and all the cleaners next to us having fags they even left there cigarette trays on the side of our balcony and we had a 1 year old baby and when we complained the rep, he was not very helpful.
If you are coming on holiday to get a nice tan relax again don’t come to salou or the sun club apartments as we saw the sun about 3 times on our 2 week holiday as instead of relaxing by a pool, we got the pleasure of a tornado and a thunder storm causing the electricity to blow in the hotel.
When we did see the sun it wouldn’t be till about 2.00pm in the afternoon as due to where the pool is situated the sun doesn’t reach you.
Also if you want to go to the beach you have travel down a load of steep hills not good when you are carrying lilos and wearing flip-flops and wheeling a buggy.
As for the entertainment we have had better entertainment in a haven holiday park with Rory the tiger. As well referring to food in the hotel I waited about 20mins for a hotdog and for a hotel that provides for some many people there were about 6 tables and 1 waitress and so we waited nearly an hour just to get something to eat.
So if you want to go on holiday to come back the same colour, be bored out of your head then this is the place for you.

Submitted By: Ms MM MANTONWe have recommended it to many friends and family and they have also enjoyed it.
Even though a bit quiet at night, we would go into Salou, but were grateful to come back to the Cap Salou at night.
Staff in all areas were very pleasant, especially the cleaning staff, who were meticulous at their jobs.
A visit to Portaventura and Aquapolis water park are a must. Booking trips and excursions can be done through the local public bus service, (bus Plana) and are very affordable.
There are plenty of places to eat in Cap Salou, especially The Paddock, Smugglers Inn and Danny Boys in Salou.

Submitted By: Miss Ag GrayThe Sunclub apartments where brilliant, the rooms were more than I expected, very spacious with lovely views.
The staff where brilliant very helpful and they all speak English.
The entertainment was ok not brilliant but still a lot of fun for the whole, on our last night there was a comedian/ magician who was brilliant his name Matt Wicks I think. He was like a younger version of Lee Evans.
He was so funny me and my partner were laughing from the start to the end of his act. Of course they still had to play games and bingo every night but I loved it, it was a laugh.
If someone is reading this and would want someone to recommend a hotel in near Salou then I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Submitted By: Mrs Erin KellettWe stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with air con but when we arrived the air conditioning was not working for 3 days .
We found that the apartments beside us had loud entertainment had so did the Sunclub apartments.
Tthere was a kids club but it cost a lot of money. The swimming pool was good for our older children because it had all different depths, but for the 5 year old it was not so good.
Down in the town there was a good selection of restaurants, and most of the time we found we had to go in to Salou and eat.
The beach was nice and quiet and the nearest town was Lapineda which is a 20 minute walk approximately.
Over all it was a great holiday and we liked it much we may go back in the future but not this year!

Submitted By: Miss Melissa LittleIt was the cleanest place I have ever been in in my life; you could eat your dinner off the floors and see your reflection in everything. The hotel has a lovely restaurant so good that we ate there the majority of the time.
The restaurant was very clean although the staff may not chat like the way people may at home you have to take into consideration that they speak a different language and also put yourself in their shoes, if you were a waitress serving people who spoke a different language it would not be that easy to sit down and have a chat with them.
The nightlife in salou was brilliant and the sun clubs location excellent the shops were never ending and everything was very well priced. I think Salou offers so much for everyone so no matter what your age you will have a brilliant time guaranteed!!
* also especially if you have kids to go to the theme + water park

Submitted By: Miss K ChislettEntertainment with Michelle, Laura and John was pretty good throughout the day, however there was one major problem with the Sunclub......THE STAFF...
Why was it every time me or my partner went to reception it was like we were making a nuisance of ourselves by asking them simple questions? The reception staff were mainly all English therefore there was no excuse to not understand what were asking or anything, but they all appeared to have an attitude problem, even on check-in. On our last day me and my partner had to laugh at a sign we saw on the wall by reception. ''Please feel free to ask our reception staff for any advice or even just for a friendly chat''.......what utter rubbish. Can you imagine the look we would've received if we asked for a chat?!
But the rudest of all the staff were the restaurant/bar staff......If they expected tips, I have no idea what for, as they were providing something which was far from friendly. They were possibly the rudest people with the worst attitude I've ever seen at a restaurant.....not really what you want on holiday. When the food eventually came, it was literally thrown at us. Tables were left dirty with the customer before plates left out. When we went to the bar, the barman approached us with an abrupt....'Yes?'' Not a ''hello, what can I get for you?'' At the busiest time of day (breakfast) there were two members of staff working the restaurant and the bar.....absolutely ridiculous.
Take my advice staff at Sunclub........cheer up! Then your guests might actually smile back at you.

Submitted By: Mrs D JonesThe apartment and reception staff were great very friendly and apartments very clean. There was a bus stop right outside which was handy. We visited Salou town which had lots of shops and la pineda was lovely. most evenings we stayed in the sun club entertainment was not great.
Same thing every night quiz then bingo, then a bit of fun for small children, then deal or no deal by the end of the night you wanted to scream out of boredom. For teenage children there was nothing there and at night beware of the security guard, he was a complete pain and he does not care what you’ve got to say as he can’t speak English and does not care who he pushes around.
All that was there for teenagers was pool tables and that was if they could get on them as the little children loved to throw them around. How no one got hurt I don’t know .
I would go back to Salou again but would not stay in the sunclub.

Submitted By: Mr M EastonEntertainment was varied but the nightly games of quiz, bingo and deal or no deal were not very long and fun if you joined in.
Our kids are 14, 7 and 5 and all had a fantastic time they were not short of anything to do.
Location is a bit far out of Salou which is a lovely, lively place to be, although the bus service Plana is great and runs every 15 mins. Cap salou does have a couple of lovely beaches and a handful of shops and bars, although it is not as quiet as portrayed due to the noise from surrounding hotels.
The best places to eat are smugglers inn in cap salou and gabbers in salou.

Submitted By: HattersleyWhat disappointed us the most was that there wasn’t really that much for our children to do. We spent lots of time in the day at the pool side, but that got monotonous after a while. There was only pool to play, and that was always packed.
There is 1 video game. The beach is down a hill which wasn’t highlighted to us and as my wife has a bad leg this would have been a factor for us. We travelled into Salou and also La Pineda via bus most days as a result. The local bus service (Panas) are a joke! With a 3 and a 6 year old we nearly had so many accidents as, as soon as you’re on the bus the driver sets off before you have managed to seat the children - if you can get a seat as most of the time we had to stand.
The entertainment on the evening was ALWAYS deal or no deal - this bored the life out of almost everyone we spoke to, and the reps who entertained were quite happy to take your Euro's at every opportunity. We would not return.

Submitted By: Mr R MuskThe down side was, we were put on the top floor in room 525 just below the main air conditioning unit and as everyone turned it on at night it was going hell for leather. The noise was like sleeping in a washing machine, it was mind blowing - my two kids age 12 + 9 couldn’t sleep. Me and my wife I think slept through the noise out of being so tired but it would still wake you I think unless you are a heavy sleeper.
We didn’t get moved for a week so that took the edge off the holiday, the other thing we found was there was nothing to do in the evenings unless your kids are young the entertainment was very poor and the same thing every night. Having older kids, they got bored and so did me and my wife.

Submitted By: Ms CT MC MahonIt was a haven with the air conditioning, the coolest place available. I was very disappointed with the night time entertainment. It was repetitive and monotonous - deal or no deal every night of the week and bingo too. We see deal or no deal every day at home, I was hoping for something different on holiday. Its put me off the programme for life. All my teenage daughter had available to her was pool!
Apparently there was a problem with getting a licence, but because of this we had to be entertained by the Mediterranean Village Hotel beside us who got the licence and who’s entertainment drowned ours out both in quality and volume. Because of this I would not go back.
The location was excellent, beside the bus and train stops and very near lovely coves and the beach which I loved.

Submitted By: Mr P DurneyThe bar was at times painfully slow to get served especially if Angel was not working, the local beer San Miguel was beautifully chilled and excellently priced at 2 Euro 20 cent. The receptionists were mostly very nice but there was one receptionist who would make an excellent traffic warden. The area Cap Salou is actually ideally situated between Salou & La Pineda the more livelier resorts. The bus service & Taxi services are cheap and are all available just outside the apartments.
The shop on site is ok, but there is a supermarket just up the road which I would highly recommend (especially for dirt cheap spirits). All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday & I would highly recommend the Theme park & Aquapolis water park in La Pineda. I would recommend the Sun Club, myself if I was to come again I would probably try some other apartments for something different.

Nothing is perfect but the staff especially at reception cannot be faulted. We hired a car and found beautiful places that the staff had suggested, they got plans and maps for us from internet and could not be more helpful and friendly.
The only problem we found was that the bar was understaffed.
I would recommend this place to everyone and I have been having holidays abroad for the last 20 years. Try the Sunclub for yourself, sometimes you get treated how you treat people...honestly it was great!
