Great For Kids

Went for a week a wished it had been longer. The kids reps were fantastic and worked a very long shift indeed, yet still kept smiling and the entertainment was good. The hotel was very clean, the maids were in every day except Sunday and cleaned the apartments very well.Considering there were 5 of us,the apartment was still very spacious. The pool and pool area were very clean and tidy.
On the down side you are hit with a 60 euro deposit as soon as you check in which we weren't warned about. The receptionists could also do with learning to smile. The drinks were expensive and the food not great so we ate/drank out most of the time.
To sum up, you'll have a great time here just eat and drink in the restaurants down the hill and take an extra 60 euros with you.

we stayed at the sun club from 24-31 july2010 with first choice.all of the reviews on here that knock the place, seem to me to be off the pace. myself, the missus and three kids,12,9,3 all had a great time there.the hotel and first choice staff were all very helpful, the rooms very spacious and well equipped(just had to hire an electric kettle).the hotel was very clean and the kids clubs/reps were excellent and the evening entertainment was fine,if you want las vegas style entertainment then go to las vegas!if you can do the all-inclusive drinks package, well worth it for a family.alldrinks and ice creams/lollies for kids and all drinks for adults from 10am to 11pm.all the other families i spoke to were of the same opinion as me about the hotel.well worth it,a great base. we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at sunclub and would definitley go back without hesitation.

just got back from the sun club myself and my wife our thirteen year old son and my mother in law, and may i say we had a fantastic time, but reading the reviews before we went made us a bit worried about what we would find, and all i can say is that we did not have to because we found it all very good !! if your looking for a 5 star holiday on a 2 star budget dream on !! we had a family room air conditioned one double bed in one room and two single beds in the other, a good size living area with tv that you don't have to pay for the remote, also a sofa that made another bed under it "so would sleep six in total" the kitchen has a table with 4 chairs a fridge a microwave and a two ring hob, there are all the pots and pans you need and a boil on the hob kettle wich is slow so we took a travel electric kettle, the tea towels are naff so pack one and a dish cloth, the bathroom has a bidet and a bath shower and the water is red hot 24-7, it also has a hair dryer in the bathroom so don't pack one, we had large size balcony with a table and four chairs !! the hotel food is very good and cheaper than salou with a good selection of snacks ie burger and chips chicken nuggets pizza ect and the breakfast sets you up for the day a large English breakfast cost 6.50 euros and you get 2 eggs, two English bacon, two sausages, black pudding, hash brown, beans, tomato, and four rounds of toast and as much tea coffee or fruit juice as you want butter jams ect as its all in the restaurant !! stuffed every day and very tasty !! the staff are very good and the entertainment is good too, the first choice reps are always on site and make your holiday special, Joel is very good with all the tours and will help you with any info you mite need and the girls heather and tiny tash will make your kids feel special !! cap salou is a small place but nice to get back to after been in salou all day its nice to chill in a quiet area, there are a few places to eat in cap salou and i would recommend the smugglers good food and beer, when you get to the hotel get a t10 bus pass it cost 2 euros for the card and you buy 10 or 20 credits from reception 20 credits cost 18 euro and you get 20 rides that take you up and down the coast for the same price 99cence without this its about 3 euros into salou so its a good saving, but the best place we found was the little Hampton in salou on the main street this is run by Karen and her staff who are very good, jane is a waitress who wants everything spot on so the food is hot you don't have to wait long and the menu is very good too and the portions are good so prepare to be stuffed, ribs to die for !! and the local beer is cold and always bob on !! karens mum helps out and is a lovely lady, it took us a week of bad meals to find it but we ate there all of our last week !! just to let you know that on arrival at the hotel there is a deposit of 60 euros wich is returnable this covers any breakages ect it made us a bit mad at first but you can understand why they do this we did not pay any cash out as they will take your debit or credit card number and up to now nothing has been taken from our bank but just be aware of this deposit !!!! we are booking for next year as we where very pleased with it all !!!!!!

Great Holiday!!

Great hol, staff very helpful and friendly, rooms clean and modern. Bin emptied every day, clean bedding and towels 3 times a week.Kitchen well equipt but i suggest taking your own elec kettle.Shop on site sells english food but expensive, found cheaper supermarket 2 streets away. You can eat in if you like, snacks available all day eg chips, pizza, burgers.Entertainment every night Tiny Tash was the hotel entertainment rep who worked very hard and did a great job.Yes bingo but hey its a bit of fun! There were 4 first choice reps to keep kids entertained all day and evening.Only fault the pool was cold. You could always get a sun bed no matter what time of day you went around the pool, just no umberellas.Cap Salou is hilly but a lovely quiet resort. The restaurants are just down the hill, the bus stop is bang outside the hotel and only 4 stops to Salou or La Pinada, both lovely flat beaches. The waterpark is 10 mins away on the bus and well worth a visit costing £30 for 2 days. Our kids are aged between 9-17 and there were slides that suited all.Free dolphin?sealions show once your in. Overall a great holiday and i would definatly go back.

We cant understand all the complaints holidaymakers seem to have about Sunclub?? We read some awfull reviews before we went. Hotel rooms were brilliant, as for noise levels we were on the ground floor 2 doors away from the entertainment and could not hear much noise, nothing to complain about anyway! Prices were very reasonable, Supermarkets offsite were much cheaper though. Entertainment and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities for children were great! I could continue listing the positive about this place.I would definatley recommend visiting the Smugglers Inn - Cap Salou fantastic food everytime. Basically ignore the haters, dont worry about the bad reviews we had a great holiday.

Jun 2010, silver wings

just got back from sunclub cap salou been to salou befor and spain for over 25 years not we also have spanish relatives so i am not just a winging brit firstly any one going hear with a disability needs to know that this is a verey hilly and i do meen steep. when you arive at the hotel you are droped off at the bottom of the hill because the hotel as blocked off the entrance, you are the told to pay 60 euros deposit not in brochure if you have taken th all inclusive drinks opption you will be told to singn a further contract or you cant have it also not in the brochure, you are not alowed glasses unlike the other holiday makers and you are not alowed anything larger than a half pint the brochure states local winse spirits but this is not so they only allow a limited choice and in verey small cups their were four adults and we paid £150 per person for this = £44 per day
when we complaind about this we were told that we were a health and safety danger so would only get plastic cups then we might abuse the system then we could go up as many times as we liked but would be momiterd so every time we went to the bar we had to give our room number
we felt so uncomfartable that we went out every day and used the hotel very littel so we didnot get any where near the amount we paid, also after we had complained we foud that when we went up to the bar the saff would finish serving the paying gests and the go of and clean the tables befor we would be served. if you want a car it will cost you 10euros a day to park at the hotel
if you want to sleep dont go the noise is loud untill after 1.30 am then the people returning to their rooms will keep you up longer. (note there is no happy hour any more)if you go out note it is very expensive!also because we can speek spanish we were able to understand the derogatory remarks made about the tourists which were many. well i will finish off hear i could go on but wont remeber though i am not an inexperianced traveler and i also have a lot of knowlage of spain wich is by and large a grate place to go!!

I went to sunclub late september with my daughter(16yrs)my mother in law my sister in law and my 2yr old neice. On arriving there the coach pulled up at the bottom of the hill, has there were no access to the entrance, so it was a struggle with the little one and cases and the pram, but we managed. When booking in they wanted 60 euros deposit of us which we was never told about but this is refundable. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is absolutely freezing. The jacuzzi is on a timer to cut costs. On the second day my mother in law had her bag stolen from round the pool from one of the locals. When reporting this to the staff they were very unhelpful! The rep at to report this incident to the police over the internet and asked us for the 1 euro to put in to use the net! Bit below the belt when you have just had your money stolen.I found all the staff to be ignorant. The entertainment was appauling. Highlight of the week was them putting x factor on the tv for us,and of course bingo everynight with the prize money of around 5 euros but ther was no more than 15 people in the whole hotel. The food was nice in the hotel but a bit expensive but all salou is expensive, you need to re mortgage your home for a family to take a trip out for the day.Buses get very overloaded and safety is not an issue to them.I have never been on a holiday has boring has this one, your in the middle of no where and its like a ghost town.My daughter could not wait to get home, all there was for her to do was use the internet which is 1euro for 15 mins.HATED the place and would never ever return there, think i will stick with tenerife. Also be very aware of the pick pockets especially at the market.

We stayed in the SunClub in October 2009 and found our one bedroom apartment larger than expected. It had a spacious balcony and the apartment was quite modern. The pool looked lovely but unfortunately was far too cold to swim in! The restaurant food was o.k. We found the reception staff to be not the most welcoming! One inparticular. Working with the public is not an easy job but if you choose to work in the hotel business then you should be at least prepared to crack a smile! Cap Salou is like a ghost town at this time of year with everything closed down for the season. You can buy a prepaid bus ticket from the reception which works out to be cheaper than paying for individual journies. I wouldn't advise families with children to go at this time of the year as there is very little to do. Tickets for Portaventura were 44euros per person for a day pass and once inside you find that half the rides are closed! Travel agents don't point this out to you either! All in all it turned out to be a very expensive week as we were constantly giving our son money to play machines as there was absolutely nothing for him to do! The Little Hampton pub in Salou served great food and the staff were really friendly so make sure you pay them a visit when there!

Oct 2009, welovehols!

We went as a family with 2 children and a 4 month old baby, it was a lovely clean friendly place, food in restaurant was great, cater well for familys, staff fab, most speak enlish. rooms wre huge, we had a one bedroomed apartment with fantastic views over the sea. Only thing we would of change is that they only change bed linen once a week, but clean towels everyday. we paid 270euros for a week, was worth every penny!

Sep 2009, pwaxx

Stayed here early September. Very pleased with our apartment as it was nice and clean but kettle only supplied for a charge! There is a restaurant/cafe on reception floor which is pretty good and inexpensive. Entertainment great for kids but maybe not to everyones taste. Had to bus it everywhere as Sunclub is situated in Cap Salou at the very top of Salou but only takes 5 minutes into Salou centre on bus. Do not be put off by bad reviews as the majority of people do not go to the bother to write positive ones!

  • Advice: Very expensive and plagued by sunglasses and wacky backy sellers
  • Activities: Knights Inn restaurant. Kiss nightclub. PortAventura.

I read all the reviews before i left and believe me there true. The entertainment was awful bingo every nite we only stayed at it once and that was for the bird show. the bins were changed everyday but that was it. They don't tell about the bus pass we saved 32.00 euros by buying them. you get it at the reception its a card and you can top it up 10, 20 or 30 travels. for 30 travels it was 28.00 euro. there is also a supermarket around the corner from the sun club which is far cheaper. We loved cap salou cause we like walking and you can walk to salou within 20 minutes. the smugglers inn is that only place to eat in cap salou every were else is rotten. if you go between 5 - 7 for every adult eating you get 1 free kids meal. For the entertainment go the hotel below its an h10 and we went there every nite.
