From the time we left home, access couldn’t have been easier. Got on the airport link bus directly outside Dublin airport (buy tickets on the bus not the plane it’s cheaper) for the 20-minute journey. The bus only makes 2 stops, one in the centre of Dublin (O’Connell Street) and the bus station. Got off the bus at the station and Isaacs hotel is directly across the road.
Having not been to Dublin before, didn’t really know what to expect from the hotels, but this one was superb. Fairly small, rooms only on 2 floors, and fairly new. Hotel has a real European feel to it. The team of staff were young and extremely pleasant and courteous and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We asked for an extra pillow and one came in 5 minutes, and when we couldn’t work out how to switch the aircon off at 2 am, the porter came up immediately (we were pointing the handset in the wrong direction!). Reception staff helped with directions and recommendations and were good humoured.
Our room was compact but tastefully furnished and decorated and all fixtures good quality. Room cleaned and tidied daily. Satellite telly, aircon, comfy bed, plenty storage space, iron, tea/coffee, and at long last a female friendly hotel that has the hairdryer placed right in front of the dresser and large mirror! The ensuite was nice and clean and the water pressure in the shower powerful. the bath is nice and deep. My husband was enthralled by the mirror that didn’t steam up no matter how long you spent in the shower! the room didn’t have much of a view but then we didn’t go to Dublin for that. No noise from adjacent rooms, no noise from bars (because there aren’t any in this area) and the train line that runs at the back of the hotel was not intrusive.
Breakfast is in the restaurant, eat as much as you wanted including cooked breakfast, again staff really good and food nice. the restaurant has a courtyard shared with the backpackers hostel next door if you want a smoke with your cuppa. there is also a quiet bar for a drink in the evening.
the bus station across the road has buses going to places such as Cork if you fancy a trip further afield, and we used the train station around the corner to visit a restaurant in Dublin 8, past Lansdowne Road stadium. It took only 10 minutes to walk from our hotel to the centre of O’Connell Street, so the location for experiencing Dublin city was perfect.
The only down side during our stay was that the lift broke down and it took a couple of days to repair, but to be fair, the hotel laid on extra porters so no-one had to cart luggage up and down the stairs.
On the day we left, the hotel stored our luggage, and we collected it later to get the bus back directly to the airport. All in all, great location, friendly and helpful, clean, tasteful, well appointed. We had a lovely stay, no complaints, and can’t recommend highly enough.
