Used Travel Republic for the first time and will definitely use again as saved considerable amount on package compared to other tour operators. First time in Malta and probably last! Mellieha Bay very quiet, 4-5 bars in the village, I don’t consider myself a 'party... more

A nice place to stay, friendly and clean and just a short walk up to the gondola. Our room was quite large, but the corridors were hard floor so anyone returning from the disco on our floor was heard, but it was not too bad. The food was ok- children definitely seemed well... more

Fantastic!
After reading reviews about the Hotel Solana I was a bit apprehensive about staying there. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms, although small, were very clean and very warm and the shower was always hot. Meal times were very busy but the food was generally of an excellent standard. The location of the hotel is ideal, only a short walk to the gondola and the lounge area provided plenty of things to keep both young and old entertained. If I was to visit Arinsal again I would definitely stay at the Hotel Solana!
Run fast, run far
The Solana is a 70s throwback. Ugly decor, terrible school dinner type meals, cold and dirty pool, threadbare linen, rude staff and constant noise from the bar below til 4am. For the same money, stay in one of the small, family run B&Bs in the village - why pay for facilities which you wouldn't want to use?
great hotel for families and skiers-not for foodies or 5 star luxury
stayed with three children 9,11 and 14. two rooms corner room next to pool lovely spacious with views of mountain. Food variable sometimes lovely other times cold and manky looking. Restaurant served in evening between 8 and 10pm - too late we were starving before then. Upstairs bar smoky.Downstairs Bar solana lively and fun. Location good for ski lifts, restuarants and bars, supermarkets etc. There are opportunites to go dog sledging, ride on snow mobiles, watch torch light processions down mountains. Good hotel if you are going to Andorra for sking. Bad choice if you are hoping for a luxury five star
Go to St Gottard for the money
Solana was grubby and dirty. Food was poor and mealtimes a bunfight. Noisy guests left unchecked. Stayed at St Gottard (****) year before, short distance further out of town but by bus stop. Excellent value for money. Clean, excellent and varied buffet, good wine, nice bar.
Never again
This hotel was absolutely awful. the food was poor, 2 people came down with suspected food poisoning. one night i had the roast beef, it came out still moo-ing! the starter buffet consisted of left over meats from the night before and some very limp salad. there was a information booklet inside the rooms, but we were told that it didnt apply to us as we booked with a different company. the staff were unfreindly and unhelpful the rep we had knew nothing. we in fact got far more information from a thomson rep when we actually booked with concept holidays - again dont touch them. i emailed a complaint after i got back and didnt even get a reply. we couldnt use the water for 24 hours as it came out dark brown. there is a sauna that was supposed to be open from 5pm, but on several occasions we went at 5pm and the sauna was stone cold! we were then told by the staff that we should've turned it on. loved the ski-ing, hated the hotel, never again!
awesome week away
six adults six children just come back from first ever ski-ing holiday 30/1/05 . snowed constantly from monday temp. -20 but loved every minute. ski school a must for first timers. our instructor Clive was excellent. the solana hotel was very good and the food was just what you needed. Restraunt opening time of 8pm was a little late for children. Bar got a bit smokey. Hotel in good proximity to the gondola. overall you couldnt ask for more.
Small, but ok
We stayed here and had two tiny double rooms and a much larger single room ?!?! A lot of the rooms are much bigger though so you may be lucky. The food was ok, buffet style and usually enough to fill up on in the morning and evening. Location is good and the Bar Solana downstairs is friendly.
Avoid
Food was very poor, two people taken ill with suspected food poisoning. Staff were unfriendly. Water supply was intermittent and very often appeared from the taps a dark brown colour! There are far better apartments/hotels in the area...book them instead.
Adequate
Basic accommodation, clean but no points for style and insist on a room at the front as the back looks onto a rock face. The food is plentiful but mostly processed. Overall, the hotel gives the impression of having cut costs right back to a minimum - basically, you get what you pay for.
Highly recommended!!
If you are planning a ski holiday and you don't have alot of money Andorra is definately the way to go. Its cheap, clean, friendly and has definately been the best holiday i have ever been on. The apres ski was awesome, we never got to bed before 4am as there was so much going on! The skiing is also very good. There are two different resorts connected at Arinsal so heaps of slopes to keep you entertained. Can't say enough about it really, just go there!!
