When booking we received a £20 reduction for a budget room. checked with tour operator as did not want a budget room, they told us it was in the old part of the hotel but the room would be fine. We were given room 110, the toilet continually filled up this was rectfied by dismantling the toilet cistern and turning the water on and off when we needed to flush the loo !!...the room was positioned underneath the kitchen and above a store room. Kitchen noise started at 6.30am finished at 11.am then again at 5.30am till around midnight after dinner. Small window opened out on to a wall and skylights for the store room. Do not under any circumstances accept a budget room for this hotel...it completely ruined the first part of our holiday.....our Nielson reps, Ashley, Sean and ultimately the head rep James moved us to another hotel, the Crest which was so much better......in it's defence the Solana's food was good but the staff did not want to know about moving us to another room..............

  • Advice: Excellent resort and ski school, forget being a tax haven tho Euro has ended that !
  • Activities: El Cau, free toasties from 3.00 pm - 6.pm....El moli fantastic chicken, Surf fantastic steak,
  • Good For: Ski

Used Travel Republic for the first time and will definitely use again as saved considerable amount on package compared to other tour operators.
First time in Malta and probably last! Mellieha Bay very quiet, 4-5 bars in the village, I don’t consider myself a 'party animal’, but by midnight the streets were all but deserted.
On a positive note, Solana Hotel lovely, very clean, spacious and modern room, lovely rooftop pool. Malta buses very cheap and regular, car hire reasonable.
Worth getting out and about to see the sites. Valetta fantastic, the silent city a must for everyone, some lovely villages and scenery, good to see locals who are genuinely friendly and interested.
Malta probably more for the 50+ age range. Don’t go if expecting lively nights and 6am returns to accommodation.

A nice place to stay, friendly and clean and just a short walk up to the gondola.
Our room was quite large, but the corridors were hard floor so anyone returning from the disco on our floor was heard, but it was not too bad.
The food was ok- children definitely seemed well catered for- and we only ate away from the hotel for 2 nights as we fancied a change of scene.
Opposite a convenience store too- so got extra drinks and things for lunch there.
Freezing indoor pool and a nice sauna.
Quite a good bar contained within the hotel- good atmosphere!
