Taxi transfer from Heraklion is a good idea - it took about 45 minutes and would have taken much longer on a coach.
We stayed in a first floor room in a two storey block, set in lovely gardens. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The air con was first class - we were too cold until we learned how to operate it properly. The food at all meals was excellent and beautifully set out. Loads to choose from, even for the pickiest kids. Staff were friendly in the bars and restaurant. The evening entertainment was in a closed 'conference room', which meant you couldn't sit and have a drink whilst watching a show - it would be better to have the shows combined with relaxing seating and drinks - not regimented rows. The main swimming pool is salt water which stung the eyes and the beige tiles around the pool are very slippery. The beach is artificial and the onshore breeze made it too rough to swim in the sea or to snorkel safely. Best = room and food, could be better = evening entertainment and a large freshwater pool.
