The Sidero hotel was recommended as a quiet out of town centre disabled friendly hotel. The lift was too small to fit my wife’s ordinary manual wheelchair. There are 3 steps to get into the hotel. The room was too small to get the wheelchair more than 3 feet into the room.
The unbelievable noise level kept me awake for most of the nights. The breakfast food was without variety and very basic. I and lots of other guests were treated to staff rowing in the middle of the day in the bar pool area at the tops of their voices. Safe deposit boxes were broken into.
The photo guy is a pest. The tours were 1/2 the price across the road. The transfer back to the airport supposed to be 1 1/2 hour if fact we were driven round Marmaris for nearly 2 hours before finally heading out. The cleaners did a great job on the room every day.
Overall the hotel is run like a frat house and would only suit those wishing to get drunk and party all night and sleep all day. Marmaris resort - we will go back. Sidero not while we draw breath.

After reading some reviews we were a little concerned about going to this hotel, but there was no need as it was fantastic. Yes the rooms are on the small side but cleaned to a high standard every day. Plenty room and beds around the pool and the staff are great always on hand if you need them.
The tour operators opposite the hotel Raymond and Gail were fantastic they could not do enough for us the trips are much cheaper than anywhere else we recommend the Turkish bath and the jeep safari excellent fun. Please don’t be put off by some reviews we will definitely be going back next year, Garry, Jane Mick and Ashley.

After reading some of the reviews on here before we went, we were a bit apprehensive about this hotel. How wrong we were.
The hotel itself is basic but always spotlessly clean, everyone who works in the Sidero really made the effort to make our holiday the best, all the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful and entertaining the guests to our enjoyment of our stay, great pool, great bar, great staff, what more do you want? I've read some scathing reviews of the Sidero and just two days back from our holiday I had to write a review, this place is great, fantastic people working in a friendly hotel.
Were going back there what does that tell you? Oh and if action man reads this, coomala, coomala, coomala vista! Our new friends at the Sidero we will be back. From Lorrie and Chris, thank you all xx

We booked this hotel as part of a last minute deal holiday which was always going to be a bit of a risk, however after reading a mix of reviews on this site, some very positive, we thought we'd give it a go.
On the whole the hotel was basic but very clean. The housekeeping staff were lovely and cleaned the room daily. I’m not sure why in other reviews people didn’t get there room cleaned, perhaps the staff have been changed since.
However, I’m not quite sure what to say about all the other staff!!! They were extremely unprofessional, sometimes rude and arrogant and constantly seemed to pester you! There’s a photo guy who won’t leave you alone until he’s taken your picture at least 50 times, in various stupid poses, which he then expects you to pay for!! And the guy on the reception is very difficult to know how to take, as he is very sarcastic! On the first day he wouldn’t let us have a safe at first until he interrogated what we were going to put in it, which made us very suspicious to say the least!!
When we went the hotel was very quite until towards the end when a large group of people came, who did inevitably wake us up at 3am shouting and being sick! We are only in our twenties and do like going out but some other guests didn’t seem to have any consideration for others!
Marmaris itself it’s not what I thought it would be! It is very tacky and you will get harassed all the time. When we went to some shops near the hotel we counted we got hassled 15 times! If you like fry ups, tacky bars and sleazy men than this is the place for you! Also a word of advice if you visit the resort before the height of summer the beach is a building site, literally!!! And if you do go in the summer you will be laying like sardines, on the very tiny beach!!
Raymond (travel agent opposite hotel, I think known as Mr Fish) was very, very, very annoying! Every single time we went in and out of the hotel he tried to make us go on one of his trips!! He didn’t take the hint until he saw us board the transfer coach home!!
If you decide to stay here, you should definitely eat at the village house (next to hotel). The food is good and the owner is very welcoming! A trip with the European Dive Centre to snorkel or dive is also very worth the visit! Also a walk along the seafront to Icmeler, about 1-2 miles, is very worth it!
So on the whole if you’re looking for a cheap holiday in a basic hotel, love fry ups/burgers and chips and want to go clubbing every night this is probably the place for you!! If not try somewhere in Icmeler, it is a lot quieter, prettier and on the whole has a lot more to offer! Although be warned the Turkish men are still the same!

It was the first time I had been to Turkey last year. It was very different to what I was expecting. The scenery is beautiful. Especially the beaches they are amazing. Its really cheap to eat out there and there’s plenty of places to choose from.
The staff out the hotel were great entertainment they made the holiday it was great fun. We went in July be warned it is very hot it reached about 45 Celsius on the one day. It was so hot we stayed around the pool most of the time. The mud baths in Dalyan in Turkey are a must we won this trip with the tour operator while we were out there.
It was fantastic getting covered in mud great fun and then seeing the rock tombs and visiting turtle beach. Be sure to take plenty of money as there is tons to do and explore. A gullet cruise is a must as well great for sunbathing.
Plenty of shops you have great fun with them bartering they give in eventually and let you have a cheaper deal. Its a place I shall never forget.

The Sidero is probably the last place on earth that you would want to stay - a five star hell hole!
Ignorant staff, dirty, noisy(till all hours). Table cloths with food on from the day before. Hotel dog (Alsatian) allowed to roam around the food area, then kicked very hard by one of the staff for doing so.
Everything that everyone else has said about this place is true.
The Thomas Cook reps were useless when complained to, we were offered another hotel if we paid £180 extra.
We managed to get moved after doing the leg work ourselves, then told to pay £60 each extra - needless to say they did NOT get their money.
We were offered £30 each by Thomas Cook when we got back which I find an insult, £30 is not a very good way of compensation for 14 days/nights of pure hell.
Needless to say we will not book with Thomas Cook ever again!

My friend and I were in the Sidero 2wks in august 2005 and enjoyed so much went back 1wk in September 2005, were greeted by friendly staff who took our suitcases straight away up to our room which was on the 3rd floor. Room was basic but clean.
Staff were friendly could not do enough for you, meals were fine, pool area was clean and very spacious we got a sun bed no problem, we didn't find it too noisy heard some people coming in late very merry but that is what your holiday is all about.
Mr Fish across the road was very reasonable with his tour prices and is quite funny. Had a good sense of humour.
We have booked the day after we came back for Sidero next year again, had a fantastic holiday and love the staff cant wait to get back... Janet and Jessica (wee Scots lasses!)

All in all I found the Sidero hotel fantastic. Yes the rooms are slightly small but they are very clean and very comfortable.
One thing I would knock was the fact that our towels were not changed as often as they could have been. However, when they were the sheets were changed, a lovely heart shaped display with rose petals was left on our bed.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and were greeted by the man on reception every time we walked by him.
The resident photographer was also fun. He offered to take our picture and ended up doing a full on shoot!! He made us a very good deal on all of our photos and gave us both a disc with all the pics on. We felt as though we were in ok magazine!!
Over the road from the hotel was Mr Fish. He was great. Our friend throughout the holiday, we booked all of our excursions with him. Don't listen to the reps when they say you get ripped off by the local excursions, you don't! We would highly advise you to take the boat trip to top up your tan and the jeep safari, the funniest day of our holiday.
By far the best holiday i have ever been on, I would recommend the Sidero hotel to anyone and encourage you to try Marmaris for your summer holiday as you won't be disappointed! Also the best bar on the beach, Turtles! A karaoke bar where you can find the best and the worst singers and the DJ has everyone involved in the fun even if you don't want to sing! Fish bowls and bar dancing as standard.
10/10 for Marmaris definitely be back in 2006!!

We have just returned from this hotel and will never go back.
We encountered problems with people keeping us awake all night be it when coming home very drunk at 3,4,5oclock in the morning or playing ghetto blasters at full blast with the room doors open. When we asked the management to deal with this we were ignored. I was so tired I ended up in tears. The culprits and some of the staff thought this was funny. We have been to Marmaris 17 times but have never stayed in such an awful hotel.
I would add that we went with Thomas Cook and when we went to the office and made them aware of our problems they were excellent and moved us to a lovely hotel where we will be returning to next year this was the Mehtep.

I have just returned from the Sidero which we found to be noisy and dirty we had slamming doors and children playing football in the corridors to three and four O’clock in the morning also the sheets and towels were not changed all the time we were there. When we complained to the hotel management and the Thomas Cook Rep we were told that their was nothing they could do forcing us to pay £60 to move Hotel for the second week, If you want to visit Marmaris do not stay at the the Sidero which is truly a hotel from Hell.

Forget any bad reviews you may read. The Hotel is clean if a little basic. How anyone could complain about the staff is beyond me.
Whatever you want you'll get (with a smile). OK there may be some noise at night but nothing to really complain about. The Pool & Bar area are fantastic and the waiters need to be seen to be believed they are superb.
I'd go back tomorrow.
Try Cozy Corner for a meal. Food very good and Kojak is always smiling.
