AC Vilamari

We recently stayed at the AC Vilamari and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is well located near Placa Espanya (5 minute walk), which is the hub of most public transportation. The hotel's neighborhood is less touristy than Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic, but the Montjuic area is a brief walk away. The hotel's location is a great alternative to the more densly populated areas around Placa Catalunya. The hotel rooms were comfortable and modern. The hotel in which we stayed was the AC Vilamari in Barcelona. We stayed there from the 30.10.07 to 2.11.07. I will briefly explain why we were so unhappy. My partner and I were involved in a robbery scam within one hour of arriving in Barcelona. Booked hotel through Bookings.com, found the Vilamari to be excellent value for money at €75 per night not including breakfast, Check in staff were very efficient and spoke excellent English, handy for us not speaking any of the language, able to check in a bit earlier than the stated 3pm which was perfect, Our room was lovely, shower was to die for, and the free mini bar was a nice touch, two bottles of beer and several types of soft drinks/water, Took Aerobus from the Airport into Barcelona, €6.90 one way, no need to... more

Arrived at the hotel v. late on 5th August to be told that the air conditioning throughout the hotel wasn't working (which explained why the lobby was more like a sauna) and they didn't know when it would be fixed. They did however book us a room at the nearby AC Diplomatic at no additional cost, so we caught a taxi there. The additional cost of the taxi to us and the lateness of our checking in at the Diplomatic wasn't the best start to the holiday, but considerably better than staying in the Vilamari sans air-con!

This hotel is ideally situated near major transit stops (bus and metro) and is a short ride to La Rambla. The rooms are clean and modern, on the small side but good enough for a comfortable stay. Free minibar items are a wonderful bonus, as is the lounge area with complimentary coffee and treats, although most times the items were not present (we only found them on our last day). The AC Vilamari is modern, clean and good value for the £60 a night for a double. The rooms aren't big but then again you're out and about most of the time and the free mini bar is a nice touch (don't expect lots of alcohol however!). The hotel is a bit out of the way of the old town (circa 20 minutes walk) but myself and my wife found that a good thing as you see parts of the City you wouldn't otherwise see, and it's quieter than if you are stuck in the centre. Stayed for 5 nights at the AC Vilamari. Check-in was efficient, and we were able to store our luggage securely, as we had arrived early. The room size was standard, and the the decor and features were modern. Particularly welcomed, and very, very uncommon, were the free contents of the minibar, replenished every day. No alcohol, but all the soft drinks and water you could need. The lounge in the lobby with a help yourself bar was also a great touch! Stayed a night there, booked a double with lastminute for £52. no breakfast. Staff: polite and efficient, speaks good english. My booking went AWOL but they allowed me to check in and said that they will liaise with Lastminute.com Location: central, but a fair walk from the nearest metro station (Rocafort or Plaza Espanya). No shops of interest between the metros but there are a few family-run cafes. Hi My husband and I stayed at this hotel on Friday 14th July 2006 for 1 night. We were cruising on Voyager Of The Seas the next day. We arrived at the hotel at 7.30pm and went to check in. We were given our key card and told that the mini bar drinks were included, as I walked to the lift there was a fridge with coke etc, so I took 2 bottles, as we made our way to the lift the fridge was lock for the night, it closed at 8pm. We live in Zaragoza and often visit Barcelona. When we are not staying with friends, we like this hotel and on a recent trip with a family member we stayed here for the third time in the past two years. The decor is modern and spare, which we like, the rooms are very comfortable and the staff is friendly and multi-lingual. The hotel is located within a twelve block walk from Plaza Catalunya and the Rambla, or a short subway or bus ride. It is ideally located for anyone who wants to get away from the crowds.
