The Tayhan Hotel is situated in Kumkapi, one of the ancient quarters of Istanbul, only five minutes away from the historical centre of the city, making it the ideal destination for leisure and business travellers alike.
In the middle of a very busy traditional part of Istanbul, in a part called Kumkapi lies the hotel Tayhan.

My uncle and myself stayed at this hotel for 4 days, when we went to watch THAT football match and we won the European cup again for the fifth time. The hotel was basic but it catered for what we wanted, WELL THERE WAS A BAR!!!!!

There was a bath sink and shower, two single beds, TV, fridge, but there was no mini bar like it was advertised. There are no balconies, just windows with not brilliant views however if you want to stay here and just use it as a base then that is fine. The hotel staff are very friendly but we found that the bar was a little expensive, WELL SO WAS EVERYWHERE, THEY SAW US SCOUSERS COMING!!!!

The cleaners were in every day and changed the bedding and the towels daily, they also tidied things away and even folded my Liverpool shirt and placed it perfectly on my pillow as they did with my uncles. A memorable stay and very educational to see the locals go at there every day activities, and almost everybody stopped to say hello and shout Liverpool, Liverpool. They really did take to us scousers, before and after the win.

Would recommend if you wanted to stay in the working area of kumkapi you really are right in the middle of there living quarters with the schools nearby and the mosques.

However, the bazaar and the blue mosque are only a 10 min walk away (up a very steep road) and the taxi fares are reasonable for getting around, also if you get fed up of there food kebabs, there is a McDonalds nearby.
