Stayed at creta star in June for a week hotel was nice staff was a nightmare it took about 20 minutes to get served for a drink.
The entertainment was rubbish and it was full of German people who were really ignorant. When in the restaurant having something to eat, with young baby who was feeding himself, people would give us dirty looks the food was horrible.
Never go again we were in the middle of nowhere and you would risk your life getting into the town centre.
I would advise you not to go there with young children.

This hotel was a nightmare, the Germans would cause trouble with us if we made any noise from the rooms but as there was 5 children one of which was 10 years old and the rest aged 7 or younger.
The bar people would ignore us when we asked for a drink but to make things worse we weren’t meant to be in this hotel we had booked a hotel next to a resort miles away from creta star, because we had already visited this place where star beach is and found it amazing the staff at the creta star hotel need to learn to treat English with respect and learn some manners as they were very rude.
Direct holidays didn’t tell us that we would be staying in a different hotel until we got to the airport the adults got 80 pound compensation each as there was 14 of us including the young children the balconies were a nightmare. There wasn’t a lock on the door and there were children of aged two, seven and 10 in the room with there mother and there mothers father there grandfather.
I advise you not to visit that hotel as you may well not enjoy your stay and direct travel could of rang or sent one letter to say we wouldn’t be in the hotel we had wanted to stay in.

Stayed here for two weeks 30june onward, the hotel rooms were kept clean but the staff were terrible, never smiled, reception were just not interested, having worked in reception myself I would say if you behaved like that in this country you would be sacked.
The Germans were a nightmare, just walked to front of queue. I seen a polish guy ask one German to step outside for a roll about as he put it, and I don’t think he wanted to cuddle him!
The main road outside is busier than the m25 and if you want to go to town jump a taxi as you would be taking your life in your hands trying to get on and of a bus. Hotel too far out and not too many English, but the ones that there were good laugh, especially the drunken ones who supported Italy.
If going here don’t expect to much enjoy your stay go out lots and head for Irish pub Rethymnon.

We were very disappointed with this hotel. It was over priced and definitely not a 4 star hotel. The hotel's administration is awful and we found the family suite we booked with Airtours over a year in advance was double booked! We found other families had the same problem when we arrived in the resort. The hotel staff are the most unhelpful we have ever come across and treat you with contempt.
Plus points were the pool was clean and beach area was nice and sandy. The rooms were clean too. Entertainment team tried very hard.
Meals times were like a bun fight. You had to serve yourself your own drinks and food/puddings in the evening, which made it extremely crowded and chaotic.
Not many English tourists, you were overwhelmed with Italians, Germans, and Dutch.
We would never return to this hotel ever again. The hotel management have a lot to learn on customer service.

I visited the Creta Star Hotel on 23 July for 2 weeks with my parents and my 23 yr old sister. I am a teenager so these comment are from my point of view.
This hotel was amazing. Great range of food, activities and the atmosphere was also fab. We started off on a bad foot - We booked 2 separate rooms but were given a “family suite” which consisted of a double bed, a tiny single bed and a broken camp bed. Not suitable for 3 adults and a teenager. They soon apologised and 2 days later they gave us 2 separate rooms (NB - Generally the Greeks are VERY laid back so don’t expect things done in a hurry).
Breakfast - wide range from crepes, fruit, toast, cereals, chips, English fried breakfast etc etc.... “Orange juice is just squash and should be avoided at all costs!
Lunch - quite busy and occasionally no-space to sit down at the small restaurant so you may have to wait about 15 minutes. There are the basics - chips, salads, pizza, hotdogs but also specialities of the day.
Drinks - Below standard during the day but excellent at night! Wine was normally fizzy because they put soda water in! soft drinks (coke, Fanta etc etc) are NOT fizzy and if they are, they are only fizzy because someone has added in Soda Water, which tastes awful! Cocktails were very nice and so were the children’s mocktails!
Dinner - A bit too early - 6.30-9 but again the food is excellent!
Puddings - fabulous. amazing. most delicious cakes/puddings you will every taste.
Rooms- As said before, family suite is not suitable for 3 adults and a teenager! Double rooms are reasonably spacious, always very clean and sea view is incredible!
Animation - Absolutely fab! I can’t say 1 thing bad about the animation team! They are all so friendly and are genuinely interested in wanting to talk to you. They do an amazing sport programme during the day and at night get all the little kids up on stage for the Mini Disco. The Night time shows they put on are outstanding - this particular choreographer was amazing and everyone put in 300% into EVERY show. They really made my holiday excellent!
All-Inclusive - Drinks during the day were average. Didn’t use any watersports facilities because the waves were too dangerous. Unlimited ice cream - watch out for the green one! Its marzipan NOT mint! very average, limited small cakes available and small sandwiches, which were nice.
Beach- Sandy - very nice. “Save the Turtle Beach” which means you aren’t supposed to walk on beach at night incase you scare them away and there are many cages on the beach sheltering turtle eggs. You must pay for sunbeds but it can be avoided. At a certain time (was 11.00-11.15 when I was there), someone comes around the beds to collect money. If you see him/her coming, go into the sea and you don’t get charged. Most days the waves were too rough to be allowed even to paddle in the water. Unfortunately, the incompetent lifeguard always went for 30 minute tea breaks! When I was there on the beach, I saw 4 rescues involving all ages , children and adults because the waves pulled them out too far. The holiday tourists ended up having to swim out to save them, or on one occasion, an animator!
Service - Good but slow....
Location - 5 minutes walking distance to “Mostra” nightclub which has amazing music after the Creta Star Hotel music stops at 12. 20 minutes drive from Rythmenon centre and the market in on Thursdays. Beautiful bar which is also not- all-inclusive which is down over the sea.
Bus - DO NOT TAKE BUS! Very unreliable!!!!!! took 1 hour 45 mins for the bus to finally arrive at the hotel after we were told it was “every 15 minutes!”. We saw many of them drive past but they were too full they wouldn’t stop. 1.40 euros per way for a cramped stand up mode of transport aren’t recommendable!
Crickets - Every day and night you can see hundreds of huge crickets. They are very loud and quite annoying but you do get used to them. Some were 2-3 inches long!
Tourists - one of the main low points was that there were NO English people. For the first week we were there, there was 1 English family I think. Then on the second, there were more, about 8 but it was OK anyway because everyone (even the little 5 yr old German girls) spoke English very well!
Overall- I would highly recommend this hotel but would suggest going later rather that sooner during the high season as there will be more English people!

Well just to say what a fantastic holiday food was great'ideal location right on the beach'freindly people'good clean rooms and also what a fantastic job the animation team are doing. We had a party of six and all really enjoyed this holiday would recomend to any body if you dont like music and noise you can sit away from all this''' in quiet spots of the hotel gardens around another pool. once again many thanks for letting me play Ray Charles. well done and very well organised,..
