Perfect Place
from JillCamberley
Have just spent a perfect, long weekend, with 4 friends at this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights, arriving at 22.30pm, to be greeted by Giovanni, his english is perfect, and he is a wealth of knowledge, from restaurants to excursions. As we were a group of 5 women, we had booked a triple and double room, these were next to each other,so we were able to spend all our time together. Breakfast was a joy, fresh fruit, yoguart, cheeses, ham, all types of breads, cakes, it really isn't a problem that there is little hot food, especially when, there is a beautiful lake view, to stare at while you breakfast. The staff are wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, and the little things, like, your name, your preferance for tea or coffee in the morning, were remembered. Our flight back was late evening, so we asked for an extension on our check out, we were told we could keep one room for the day, actually on the day, Giovanni came and found us, saying we could keep both rooms. It is an absolutely perfect place, a few faults, but not worth mentioning. You will not be disappointed
Lovely village, good hotel
from Victor54
In May 2007 I stayed 5 nights in this hotel. I booked two rooms: one regular double and one superior room. The superior room was large but the regular room was small. The price difference was relatively small so book a superior room. I did not like the beds: matrasses are too hard. The hotel and the rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast is very good altough no fresh orange juice is served. The hotel has a very nice lake view, there are sunbeds and there is a moderate sized pool. You can park your car in front of the hotel Overall this is a very good hotel. Some minor points: I'm a light sleeper and I woke every morning at 6.30 due to noises caused by deliverances to the hotel by suppliers (ask a room on the left site of the hotel if you sleep light too). One negative point was that I could not set the temperature of the airco lower. The temperature of 24 degree which was on the display of the thermostate was centrally set and could not be infuenced by me so it was relatively hot at night. (Maybe in the summer you can set the temp yourself; I did not check) The hotel is located in the old town of Sirmione which is one of the most beautiful villages on the Garda Lake so if you decide to visit this lake choose Sirmione. An advantage is that the hotel is in the quite part of the old town where no cars and especially no scooters are allowed except cars of hotel guest and residents. If you like to make a lot of cartrips this is not the place to be because it will cost you a lot of time to leave this small town with your car because of the extemely busy streets with pedestrians which block the street so you cannot easily pass with your car. The best thing is to use the ferry to visit other villages on the lake. Visit the villages when there is a market. The reception knows when. In conclusion Sirmione and this hotel I can highly recommend. Take a superior room; you will not be disappointed.
Continental is to be admired

Just back from a short 3 night break in Hotel Continental in Sirmione after spending 3 nights in Venice. We were very warmly greeted by the reception staff and they proved to be so pleasant and helpful over the entire stay. The receptionist showed us to our room and explained all the features of the hotel and the vicinity while the porter brought up our luggage. The location is excellent overlooking the lake with seated terrace for meals and sun-lounging and I even went swimming in the Lake from the Hotel Pontoon. The rooms are spotless and spacious and the hotel is very well maintained, the other reviews are spot on about the breakfast, its is only adequate but made special by the excellent views of the lake. The hot buffet is certainly poor. We had the most amazing lunch from the restaurant sitting out on the terrace on one of the days with white linen tablecloths and silver service, and excellent food too. All the staff at the hotel are amazing and the location for enjoying Sirmione is excellent. I would certainly recommend it and can't wait to go back.
the reviews are right-on

We stayed (2 adults, 50 and 48) at the continental for three nights (sept/06) and could not find fault with this property. After re-reading the most current reviews, i would have to agree that the property is sparkling clean, has large rooms with great views, very warm and welcoming front desk staff, lovely terraced waterside area with lounge chairs and tables; it also has a terrace for eating your breakfast outside with that wonderful view of the lake. Giovanni in particular was very helpful to us over the course of our stay; he was able to assist us in confirming our flight home after we had made numerous attempts on our own and had difficulties. He speaks impecable english and it was a joy to talk with him. Thanks Giovanni! We spent our vaction in northern italy (including milan, lake como, cinque terre and verona), and sirmione was our favourite spot. Very quaint with many family run restaurants; we did hike into the main town of sirmione (about 30 minute walk) and found an internet cafe. I dont the remember the name, but the ladies at the tourist information office by the main bus stop told us about it. Other than that, there is no internet access on the pennisula itself. We did not have a car, and it appeared that those who did struggled to get in and out of the old part of the town (the part we stayed in) The road is only wide enough for one vehicle, and it is continuously crowded with people walking. You must have lots of patience if you plan to drive in the old town. Make sure to visit the roman ruins at the one end of the old town. very interesting. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again.
A Great Place to Say
from V-alpha
The Hotel Continental more than lived up to expectations. The hotel was spotlessly clean, staff unobtrusive but helpful and cheerful. The cold breakfasts were good (the hot ones left a lot to be desired) and dinners also excellent with a good choice. The fact that I could avoid pasta - which I hate - was a boon. The head water made sure I had a good choice from the salad bar to make up! The position of the hotel was attractive although if your room was on the Spa side of the hotel the sulphur smells at night could be excessive and I found breathing difficult on some nights. That said it would not stop us re-booking at this lovely hotel. We went the last week of September and the ferries reduced by half on 1 October so anyone travelling at that time should get their lake visits in before the shut down. We travelled to Verona and Desenzano on the local 'bus which was entertaining and very cheap. All in all Sirmione and the Hotel Continental have the ingredients for a good holiday.
Very Good Hotel
from Clair22
We stayed at Hotel Continental for 3 nights, on a trip that was part business part pleasure. Sirmione provides an ideal base between Milan and Verona and we have stayed at a number of hotels in Sirmione including the Grand Hotel Terme. Hotel Continental is very good value for money and spotlessly clean. Our corner room had a lake view on two sides and well furnished in continental style with tiled floor, pale wooden furniture and large well apponited bathroom. Breakfast was served on a lovely lakefront terrace and the hotel restaurant is also very good. There is limited parking available at the front of the hotel. Whilst we were there, the other residents were of mixed ages and although quiet (the hotel bar closes quite early) we will certainly stay here again.
Wonderful Hotel Continental
from Debos28
We booked Hotel Continental like so many others based mainly on the very positive reviews made about the hotel. We were not disappointed. We travelled with our 18 month-old son for a 10 night stay and could not have been made more welcome. All the staff at the hotel were professional and friendly. We booked a superior room with a full lake view which was a good choice as we had a large balcony and we could entertain our son with the passing boats on the lake. The hotel seemed to cater for the slighly older guest and we were the only family with children however, this was never an issue and all the hotel staff were brilliant in talking to our son and accomodating him. We ate in the hotel twice in the evening. There was a good choice on the menu but the restaurant could be a little lacking in atmosphere (maybe slighly quieter due to the time of year) and I found it better having dinner in one of the abundant number of restaurants in the town. Sirmione itself is lovely although I can imaging July and August to be extremely busy. Hotel Continental is a lovely spot to base yourself to explore Lake Garda and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Luxury on Lake Garda
from Karen7
We chose the Continental based on previous reviews here and it was great. We booked a junior suite for 2 nights at the end of our holiday and enjoyed a huge bedroom, lounge, walk in wardrobe, massive bathroom and lovely balcony overlooking the gardens. We were greeted on arrival by the staff who parked our car (free onsite parking) and delivered our luggage to the room, then handed us a town map and guide to the area. Breakfast was the best we had in Italy - a plentiful buffet with coffee in silver pots served on a terrace on the Lake. Wonderful! Sirmione is a moated medieval village on the end of a long spit into Lake Garda so be warned - only hotel guests can drive into the town past the police, and tourists in the narrow lanes will need to squeeze against the walls so you can drive past!! But once you're in, it feels great to be in such a beautiful little village!
Great place, but...
from Huddy
Lovely place, lovely staff and well managed place catering mainly I would say for the 'older generation' - we felt young at 49! We chose a suite on the top floor occupying a corner position with a partial view of the lake. If a balcony is important to you for lounging around on, then choose your room carefully. From what we could make out, only the ones at the front are capable of this as most have very high concrete walled balconies with smoked glass panels. In some ways it is a strange mix of modern and old fashion with some areas and rooms enjoying modern styles and others reflecting a much older style. I'm not sure if this is done purposely. The position of the place couldn't be better at the top of Sirmione and within 3-4 minutes of the (considerable) hustle and bustle of the town itself. We travelled to Sirmione by car from MIlan. If you are driving into Sirmione be warned, it is strictly controlled entry only to residents and hotel guests (you will get a pass on arrival). Also, it is an absolute nighmare each time you do have to drive through. It is packed with tourists and you have to negotiate your way around them! Not for the faint hearted be warned!! The hotel has it's own sunbathing area on to the lake and a good sized clean pool. Breakfast was good, the usual fare - friut, cereals, yoghurt, breads, etc. All of a high quality. Hotel is frequented by a number of travel companies - Inghams, etc. As others have mentioned, it is next door to the 'Terme' Spa which obviously uses high amounts of sulphur in its treatrments! Although not overpowering by any stretch of the imagination, you will notice it! Oh - very important - if you need to have access to the internet/email, be warned this hotel does not have it and there are no internet access points in Sirmione. Overall, a good place and I cannot see anyone being disappointed by this well run establishment unless you are a very demanding sort of person who wants to be waited on every second of the day and use room service. last comment, I'd say it hovers between 3 and 4 star rather than being outright 4 star.
Excellent hotel
from Beanjar
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Continental for two nights at the beginning of September and we were most impressed. My choice of hotel was based on the reports that I read on Trip Advisor and I have to say that that they were 'spot on'. Descriptions of the hotel, its excellent position and its facilities, can be found in previous reports and I can only add that they are totally accurate. Giovanni manages a very good hotel indeed and it fully deserves the 4*s that have been awarded by the Italian authorities. For some reason, Trip Advisor only gives it 3*s - perhaps they should re-consider. Giovanni could not have been more helpful and he speaks perfect English. If you read this Giovanni - many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. Would we return? Most certainly!

The hotel is situated in Nago a lovely village a couple of k from Torbole, 90c on the bus. Well worth a wander around with frescos painted on the walls. We enjoyed our holiday very much. The room was on the third floor with views over the mountains and vineyards. The food... more
