The Stanford Inn has two parts - the main hotel section and then a number of separate chalets a bit further down the road. We stayed in the main building for 2 weeks at the end of Jan, beginning of Feb.
The rooms are a good size and have everything you'd expect from room-only i.e. TV, coffee maker, hairdryer, small fridge, etc (similar to Travelodge). Everything was nice and clean, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and we had absolutely no problems. One thing, however, is that the rooms can get quite chilly, and when you put the heater on it chucks out static electricity like you wouldn't believe!
The hotel has a bar and restaurant that were more than adequate, and it currently employs 2 Indian chefs who cook the best curry we've had in a while! We also made good use of the hot tubs, pool and sauna, which were always clean and well-maintained. These get really full Thurs - Sat though (mainly with gangs of schoolkids), as everyone from Calgary takes a long weekend.
The ski bus stops right outside the front door, and it's only a 5 minute ride. The hotel is quite far from town though (40 minute walk along the busy highway) but the local taxi service is quick and cheap (about CAN$10 each way). Hitchhiking is common, perfectly safe, and recommended by locals as the best way to get around - especially to and from the hill. We hitched a few times and met some really cool people.
I'd recommend the Stanford to anyone looking for something cheaper, but better than average (if that makes sense!). We'd quite happily go back again, although it would be nicer to stay closer to the centre of town if you're after a night out.

Jan 2008, Mr Andy Griffiths

I note the previous two comments regarding this chalet and don't doubt their accuracy.
What I feel is important to note for anyone renting a chalet is the importance of the chalet host. Most people are there for the skiing and all they want is a clean warm place with good food.
WE HAD A FANTASTIC HOST!!!
That's why we have given this a 10 rating. Julie our host was a delight. A young girl who took pride in what she did and did it very well. Our rooms were cleaned every day, breakfast was always on time, and the evening meal was hearty and well cooked with a nice variety available. As for the afternoon home baked cakes and biscuits, well all I can say is Mmm loverly :-)
Our Crystal rep was Chris (Julie's partner) who also did a great job and helped Julie out in the chalet as well. The only thing with Chris is that he needs lessons in how to switch the dishwasher on??
Chalet holidays are all about atmosphere, we had had some good ones in the past and some not so good but this is right up there with the best so thanks to Julie and Chris for making our holiday special - Oh and the powder helped as well!!!
All in all a Bonza holiday (sorry Julie if you read this Ha Ha).

Jul 2007, Mr S Derby

I too stayed in the chalet Riverside and paid a similar price to one of the previous reviewers and agree with what he is saying about the food being bad the chalet not being cleaned and the chalet girl being inexperienced.
But then again, we had a two week holiday to a top Canadian resort on a chalet board basis with flights and transfers for under a thousand pounds what on earth were you expecting?!
I looked at it as a bed and a flight for a bloody good price.
Anyone with a high expectations of chalet Riverside I suggest you pay a lot more money and stay some where else.

May 2006, Mrs K Preece

Myself and four companions stayed at this Chalet for 2 weeks at a cost of £894 pp. The board basis was fully catered.
The food was of a very poor standard, badly prepared and most of the time inedible. There was not enough cutlery, to go around. The Chalet was not cleaned often, the bathrooms were never cleaned, the kitchen was filthy, plates glasses cutlery all not washed properly, the floor was so dirty that you were walking on food scraps if you went in there, there were no locks on the room doors and the Chalet itself was frequently left unlocked and unattended.
We had to make our own tea, coffee, toast, beds, the promise of cakes and coffee in the afternoon was hardly ever delivered usually it was a few custard creams left on a plate. We have photos if anyone wishes to view. This holiday is advertised as a Luxury holiday, its far from that. We had one inexperienced girl looking after 12 guests. It was appalling and I don’t recommend anyone to stay there.
